  1. One might point to an absurdly low .118 BABIP as an indicator of horrendous luck. On the other hand, it seems like every ball he hits is on the ground. Although the actual ratio is about 2 GB to every FB. Even with his speed that will result in a lower than normal BABIP. .118 is absurdly low though.
  2. The Twins would still have needed to add someone to the 40 man immediately. Who? The only nominal candidates right now would be Tonkin or Rucinski.
  3. I don't think this is an original take (meaning I probably saw it somewhere), but he has Paul O'Neil upside IMO.
  4. So, I saw an earlier report on this site that Gee was DFA. Is that not accurate?
  5. If Gee moves on and does well and Colon bombs, this could turn out to be the dumbest move of the season.
  6. That's wierd that it isn't the current one. I took it straight from the mlbpa website. I looked at the sections regarding termination pay and assigning contracts.
  7. The catcher wasn't blocking Dozier's pathway before he had the ball because Dozier wasn't close enough to reach the plate before the catcher had the ball to need a pathway.
  8. Colon was obviously right about being better off retiring batters quickly. He's still pitching. Santana hasn't pitched in the majors in almost 5 years.
  9. Here is the current CBA. I read parts of it. I saw nothing that indicates that any other team would have to pay part of a salary of released player, other than minimum.
  10. When Colon throws his first pitch tonight, he will be the 28th pitcher to appear for the Twins this season, including Chris Gimenez. They used 29 all of last year, including Eduardo Escobar. 8 have appeared in 3 or fewer games.
  11. An awful lot of hard contact that inning. Gives me concern about Mejia going through this Yankee lineup a third time.
  12. Makes me wonder about the AAA infields. Are they like rock hard and Granite's ground balls are getting through? I'm sure somewhere there is data about his average launch angle in AAA. My guess is real low.
  13. If you have runners at second and third with one out and the top of the order due, you better get at LEAST one run.
  14. Would the Yankees have interest in Vargas or Park? Either would likely be an upgrade. Probably just get Jim's favorite return in trade: $$$
  15. But what if that tv simply had bad reception? It was still watchable, but it was no longer the best tv in the house? Maybe it's even the worst in the house, but you can still use it. Still throwing it out? That's the case with Hughes. He can still get some MLB hitters out. He's proven that the last couple weeks or whatever.
  16. Are Bremer and Blyleven really this dense? They understsnd that activating Colon will require a 40 man move, right? It won't be Granite or Vargas. They could activate and immediately DFA Breslow. DFA Belisle. Couple guys down in AAA could be DFA. Turley maybe. It almost certainly will be a pitcher.
  17. I don't know why they aren't hitting and running with him. How many times has he actually swung and missed?
  18. He can't be much bigger than Vargas.
  19. Yeah, Hughes' tree has 26,000,000 more branches on it...
  20. Suspect? 4th best team ERA in MLB. Twins are 27th, a full run higher. Cleveland's offense has been what has held them back. That said, they are in far better position than the Twins because Cleveland isn't overly dependant on one guy. The Twins are a Sano hamstring pull away from their offense being shot.
  21. Dozier doesn't strike me as that unintelligent.
  22. That's why they hire agents. I'm sure Dozier's agent is well aware of what his value is likely to be at age 31, assuming he maintains close to his career norms.
  23. Actually, there is a certain pct or number of games. What that number is, I have no idea. Back when Eric Milton missed almost all year (2003 maybe?) he was covered even though he came back in September. Indeed, his being covered allowed the Twins to bring in Kenny Rogers.
  24. That may have been true after last season, but Dozier is still another year away from FA and his numbers are considerably down. I'm sure his agent is also well aware that power from 2b isn't a rarity right now. There are probably 10-15 2b-men that can match, or at least approach, Dozier's HR output. That's really all Dozier brings to the table. He has never hit for average. His defense is middling. He gets the occasional steal, but again nothing that seperates him from the pack. Point being, high supply = low demand.
