  1. Vargas I suppose. Maybe Granite if he is healthy. Dark horse: Matt Hague.
  2. Could see a situation where Pressly is asked to (try anyway) finish the game and then likely be sent out.
  3. Beautiful, quick 12 pitch inning. Either a totally gassed Grienke comes out or he is replaced.
  4. There's a reason why he is consistently voted worst in MLB.
  5. 82 pitches for Grienke. We saw yesterday that the D-Backs lesser relievers are no better than anyone else's. Should get at least 4 innings of the pen.
  6. Angel Hernandez is home plate umpire. May the Lord have mercy.
  7. If it were up to me, I would option Gibson to make room for Melville and perhaps add a reliever (Boshers I suppose) as the 26th man as he would be eligible in either game. After Monday, Boshers returns to AAA and Melville is optioned to make room for Slegers to start Tuesday. Of course that would mean Gee has to start next Saturday as well. Monday the 27th is an off day that can be used to get the rotation back on track. By the time Sept 1 comes around, rosters expand and the 10 day waiting periods for the guys sent down after the doubleheader will be over. But that's me.
  8. I think a lot of his speed comes from the long legs. He has a quick first step, but when he gets going into high gear, he is fast. What was it, 13 something seconds on his inside the park HR? That's more than 100 meters. And sprinters don't have to make 3 sharp lefts when they run.
  9. Adding Melville will require a 40 man move. Putting Santiago on 60 day DL would seem most likely.
  10. Next up will be the Man of La Mancha...
  11. Sano may or may not have been going top speed. But he was out by 30-40 feet. That's at least 5 seconds at his speed. He had no chance to score barring a poor throw. And Polanco was due up. He's the hottest Twins hitter not named Eddie right now.
  12. Glynn must have thought Buxton was running? That wasn't the greatest effort, but Sano had no chance IMO.
  13. FWIW, Chris Gimenez is about 60 innings shy of his MLB career high. That's only 7 more starts. Jason Castro needs about 250 to establish a career high. That likely won't happen. He is about 170 innings away from his second highest total. That he should get easily. I guess the relevance is that both of these guys are playing considerably more than they are used to. So, it really isn't surprising that their offense has been non-existent the last month or so. Not that it was substantial before that. Neither has homered in two months.
  14. At least the ump is calling it both ways. Swing the bats boys.
  15. That ball left the yard un-godley fast.
  16. This just in: Byron Buxton has above average speed.
