  1. I've got two more. One is a personal one. Paul Giel. He's Winona's hometown hero in terms of sports. Two time All American fot the Gophers as a running back. He was a good friend of my father. He passed away several years ago, shortly after attending a Twins game with my father and a couple of his friends. The other is the end all, be all, top it if you can. Charley Walters, yep that one!
  2. FWIW, according to B-R, there has been one successful steal against Moya in two attempts this year. Of course, he hasn't allowed many baserunners.
  3. Foul. He was an all star I believe. Funny thing, but unless he qualifies as a legend, Greg Gagne. Unless being in the Twins HOF is what is meant. How about Paul Abbott. Be sure to ask Dan Gladden for his opinion on him.
  4. Record is 26 by the 1916 Giants. Funny thing about that team. They were sub .500 when the streak started in early September. They still ended the season 4th in the NL with 86 wins in a 154 game season, 7 games behind Brooklyn.
  5. And as I keep pointing out (because I think it is relevant), Gibson's "turnaround" happened while he faced some of MLB's worst offenses.
  6. Normally PCL would stand for Pacific Coast League. I fail to understand the reference though. Palka and Vargas' AAA numbers are both from Rochester in the IL.
  7. Yeah, even the Twins beat them 2 of 3. For this franchise, that's like climbing Everest.
  8. That's because your end date is the current date, not August 17. What I am saying is that his very good numbers since then skew the subpar numbers he had in the previous 2 1/2 months. It's the clearest definition of a SSS skewing a larger sample.
  9. 87 would be about 3 per team. Between injuries, skipping the worst starter a few times and shuffling pitchers from AAA to get better production from the bottom of the rotation, that seems about right.
  10. Might want to check with LaTroy Hawkins first.
  11. I just don't see the line of improvement at that point. Some, sure. He went from historically bad to merely bad from June through the first couple weeks of August. This is Gibson's combined line (if I did the math correctly) from June 1 through August 17: 72 IP, 87 H, 45 ER, 11 HR, 29 BB, 50 K. ERA=5.63, WHIP=1.61 I'm sorry. I still don't consider that acceptable from a number 4 or a number 5. I'd certainly be looking to upgrade that if I was at all able to do so. Since then, yes, the results are undeniably good. Fantastic, even. But it still doesn't erase the previous 4 months or frankly his entire career.
  12. Danny Ardoin and Mike Maksudian
  13. Then all of those wins weren't in October. There's usually no more than 3 regular season games in October. Win all those and 12 more and you will have swept the playoffs. Even with the current 1-3-4-4 format.
  14. Can definitely say that 20 wins in a row in October wins a championship. Maybe even 15.
  15. Just in case anyone forgot, this is pitcher # 36 on the season.
  16. They play the Giants and Padres 38 times this year.
  17. Does anyone know if Moya is in uniform tonight? If so, I'd have to think he would pitch the 9th.
  18. Not sure I see the point of Gimenez playing LF, but whatever I guess.
  19. idk, Twins made D-Backs look pretty bad.
  20. Perkins is back! #toofartuesday
  21. That is something Perkins did not need.
  22. Perk's not exactly fooling hitters.
  23. Doing his Buxton impersonation...
