  1. Does anyone else feel sorry for Buxton? Or are we just angry? I'm unsure how to process this right now.
  2. Doing his thing in the field, nice work Byron! Hughes should take him out to Gibson's Steakhouse tonight after the game.
  3. Unbelievable. Nice catch, though! I think he still gets to bring his glove if he bats 9th, right?
  4. I don't think the new brass is setting up Molly to fail. I think Molly's been failing on his own for 2 years now, and doesn't need any help in that regard. When the Twins announced sweeping changes in management last year, I was thrilled. When Pohlad added "oh yeah, you've got to keep Molitor"....I was dumbfounded. I don't think Molitor has what it takes to manage a team of young talent. He'd be a decent choice to manage Team USA in the WBC or something, but aside from that I don't see a role for him anywhere in MLB. Torii Hunter, on the other hand, would be a great choice. I'd love to see the Twins put him in the minors for a year or two to sharpen his skills, and then move him into the dugout. Molitor has the personality of a box of Triscuits, which isn't good on a team with no clearcut leadership.
  5. Fantastic work by Santana. Sano with the bomb! Polanco, doing his thing on offense and making the defensive plays he needed to. Jorge's bat is going to become too valuable to put in the 7th spot and maybe he'll switch with Buxton by the end of April. The Twins didn't pound the crap out of the ball - but they took what the Royals gave them. A win's a win and like most of you, I'll happily take it!
  6. Polanco and Sano handle their first 2 fielding chances! Woohoo! Let's see if the Twins can get through an offensive half-inning without any strikeouts here.
  7. Don't forget all of those outfield assists. This kid has one of the best arms in the majors and it'll be fun to watch him cut down runners all over the infield this season.
  8. I think the Twins finish April with a 9-16 record. Molitor gets fired by June 1.
  9. I drafted him as well. Way too high, according to CBS Sports, LOL. I'm optimistic on Bux and can't wait to see him play this season.
  10. I have to disagree with a lot of the commenters here - I don't share the optimism on Kepler. I'm questioning why a guy who hit .235 last year in 400 ABs belongs in the conversation among the team's best players. He hit .151 this spring in 53 ABs. I think he belongs at the bottom of the lineup right now. Sorry to be a downer, but I can't put all my eggs in one 3 HR-game basket.
  11. What a slap in the face for Park. What this tells me is that Favine must think pretty very, very, VERY highly of Grossman. Guess we'll see.
  12. I honestly don't see how the Twins could sit a shortstop who's batting .280. With the atrocious pitching, they'll need their best bats in the lineup as often as possible. I see Polanco playing 150 games, regardless of his defense. Along with Buxton and Sano, he's one of the players I'm most excited about watching this year. While there's always a chance of the Danny Santana-style "sophomore slump", I have high hopes for this kid. I'd like to see him steal more bases.
  13. I'm pretty depressed, as I also am guessing Duffey's going to be our 5th starter instead of Mejia. It would be nice if the Twins gave us at least ONE prospect to be excited about. The brass loves to bring up "confidence" as a reason to demote top prospects. But what about "experience"? The Royals let Zack Greinke go 5-17 with a 5.80 ERA his 2nd year. Why not let Berrios or Mejia (or BOTH) just get out there and figure it out?
  14. I agree Dan. We keep hearing that "Dozier likes hitting leadoff" and assume that he wouldn't have hit 42 home runs if he was batting cleanup. Probably true, but he'd have still hit 30 and that's not bad. One issue: I'm guessing if the Twins get a few guys on, pitchers are going to be careful about pitching to Dozier in the 3 or 4 hole. That means the guy following Dozier is going to have to be good. Do we put Mauer behind Dozier in the 5-spot? Does that mean we put Bux in the 3-hole? I like: 1. Polanco 2. Kepler 3. Bux 4. Dozier 5. Mauer 6. Sano 7. Park 8. Rosario 9. Castro
  15. Hopefully Duffey's pen-bound. I'd prefer someone with a bit more upside starting, especially on a developing team. I think both Mejia and Berrios have a higher ceiling than the Duff Man. Regardless, glad to see a solid performance.
  16. Looking forward to seeing more of Mejia and Berrios over the next 2 weeks and I'd be pretty excited to see one of them crack the rotation. Personally, I've seen enough of Duffey as a starter and would feel better with him in the 'pen. But that's just like, my opinion, man.
  17. Why panic? I never understood the "bro crush" everyone has on May, as he goes out and posts a 5+ ERA every year. This'll just make the Berrios decision easier. We've got more than a few guys to back him up, too. May seems like a good dude, and it's a bad break for him personally - but as far as this team's hopes go, I hope nobody really believed he'd be an impact player.
  18. Rats. Just awful. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery. Remember, Sano had Tommy John and he came back and has been fine. No need to panic.
  19. I agree. I like what Santana's offered thusfar in his Twins career. He carried the team during the playoff push in 2015 and was solid last year. The Twins staff was miserable in 2016, but Santana is a proven commodity and gives the team a chance every 5 days. This team needs a Mr. Reliable, and that's Santana's role. I hope the Twins keep him.
