  1. It's a good point, but I still just have a hard time finding more value in Eaton. It's just way easier to find an outfielder that will replace Eatons value than it is to find a guy that will do what Dozier does. Every year there's a ton of Eatons available in free agency, of course at a higher price. Also I get Dozier won't put up 42 homers again, but the fact he puts up 25 in a half of a baseball season provides hope. It's not like the pirates traded for Eaton looking for a deal, it was the Nationals who would have no problem with money issues. I just think you can find Eatons other places, but there is not a lot of Doziers.
  2. So a below average CF defensively with an OPS of .790. And I know its just one websites opinion but bleacher report said Dozier was the best secondbaseman in baseball. If he's not the best he's top 5 no doubt. You bring up really good points using WAR and salary, but if you were to draft a team Dozier would be picked way ahead of Eaton. If you could have two years of dozier or 5 of eaton i'm no doubt taking Dozier. And if you're the nationals and harper is gonna be gone in two years isn't your best chance to win now? So why not take the 2 years of dozier instead? And if players are graded on surplus value of their salary from WAR I bet there would be some real funny player rankings....
  3. I get the 5 years of Eaton to 2 of Dozier helps Eaton a lot, but really a below average CF now gets a better trade than a player that was the best second basemen in baseball last year?
  4. Thinking about what the Red Sox have done is really impressive. Jackie Bradley Jr(who struggled early but found success), Bogaerts, Betts, Bennintendi(who was taken after Tyler Jay), Moancada, Swihart, and they still have Devers(a top 20 prospect in the minors). That is a heck of a line up that they have developed. Let's hope the twins can develop the our young players and prospects the same. A lot of them have shown potential but need to sustain it. We have lots of elite talent (Buxton, Sano) and lots of very good talent (Kepler, Polanco, Gordon, Rosario). So obviously one day if we can get the most out of these guys like the Red Sox have their prospects and develop our young pitching we can be looking at a bright future.
  5. No way do I wanna see us trade for Sale. Why would we every give up our top young players/prospects for a pitcher to have for 2 years, then watch walk away. The White Sox would be asking for a huge haul in return too. Also if the Yankee report is true that is very good news. The Yankees do have a lot of young players we could be interested in. I'd assume Gary Sanchez would be untouchable but hopefully we could get a package headlined by Severino. I also like Justus Sheffield, Domingo Acevedo, Dillon Tate, Judge, Torres, Mateo, and Frazier. So the Yankees got prospects to deal. A bidding war between the Dodgers and Yankees would be a dream situation. So hopefully the Yankees do have interest in Dozier.
  6. Odds are Kohl Stewart isn't gonna be involved in any trade any time soon, but it is fun to talk about it. Really though I think it would be a very good idea to throw in a perkins or santiago or another pitcher that won't be apart of our future to improve the deal. I am very on board with adding Puig as a second or third part of this deal. There's no better buy low player in the majors right now. Unless we're getting De Loen and Alvarez or Puig I'm not making the deal.
  7. Love the idea of this. Throw in Perkins and see if we can get De Leon, Alvrez, Sheffield, Puig and one more prospect. Maybe we have to add Rosario, but thatsok with me. As for Stewart I think if that's what it takes to get 3 of their top 5 prospects and Puig+lesser prospects then I'd probably do it. We have to sell high on dozier. What if he slumps at the beginning of the year and we don't get the same for him. His value will never be higher than it is right now.
  8. Anthony Castrovince, An MLB writer(so in an unbiased opinion) suggested that the Dodgers trade De Leon, Alvarez, and Sheffield for Dozier. So it is very possible we can get all 3 of them. I think we have to move on from Dozier as he won't be part of our next winning team and Polanco proved he's ready to fill in and no way do I wanna see him play 162 games at SS. Also, I know Santiago's salary would make it tougher for the dodgers as they want to get rid of salary but why not try to throw him in the deal to acquire more prospects like Lux/Calhoun. If not him I would throw in Kohl Stewart to sweeten the deal to get 3 starters in return and possibly Puig as a throw in.
