I'm really beginning to wonder what will come next year if guys like gonsalves, Romero, jay, Stewart, and Jorge are all ready for the majors. We will need rotation spots for berrios and may. Hughes, Santana, and Gibson will probably still be around, unless possibly traded. Also mejia could be in the running for a rotation spot. Pitching depth is good so this makes me happy. But it is also a good reason to trade Santana if a good offer comes around. I'm excited to see what comes of all of this and who stays and who goes, who produces and who fails to make. Hopefully all these guys succeed and for once we have too much pitching!

I mean I like the thinking here and the hope is buxton and polanco will be a great 1 & 2 someday, but isn't the point of the 1&2 spots to get on base so when dozier/Sano hit bombs there's guys on base. Also I don't have a problem with grossman as our 4th outfielder. It's been said before on here that when he was with Houston he was an average fielder so I'm hoping he improves this year. Plus we have 3 good defensive outfielders playing everyday so I have no problem with a guy that'll play once or twice a week being below average defensively if he hits. Let granite develop and come up when he is ready.

It's just proof that teams he play for win with him and struggle without him. Leadership is huge in sports obviously and Torii hunter is one of the best leaders in baseball. Obviously there's many other factors that go into it but find me a player that has improved teams liked this.

Torii Hunter, actually worth at the very worst worth 5 wins. How's that for "WAR"? I'd pay that guy 15 mill if his leadership and clubhouse presence had us a game out for a playoff spot the final weekend again.

Is anybody curious as to wear Dozier and the Twins would be if we had hired Jason McLeod? If we'd be doing the total Cubs tear down right now and would have already gotten rid of Dozier and Santana?

Another big similarity between the Wolves and Twins is each team was coming off momentum from the last year and could've added a few veteran pieces to help the young guys, but both chose not too and the teams struggled. Hopefully they both can turn it around though

This is pretty incredible, obviously there's a lot of other aspects to go with this, but no doubt no matter what type of performance he's giving you, Torii Hunter makes a team a lot better. WAR is obviously very popular stat used but WAR doesn't really tell you how many wins a guy like Torii Hunter is worth.

After reading through this thread a lot I'm hoping the twins are able to get a position player out of the deal too. We need pitching and it's tough to get and it's riskier. So I'd like to see us get one position player. I'm not sure why but I really seem to like Lux, seems like he'd be a great lottery ticket get.

All this waiting makes me less optimistic a deal gets done. IMO I feel like no deal gets done. If it's been taking this long the sides must be too far apart. Really sad because each team has what the other wants/needs. The trade matches up perfectly, so I hope I'm wrong and the twins and Dodgers get a deal done. If no deal gets done a salute Falvey and co for not backing down tho.

Yes that's what TyTY said also and I agreed. I was just showing this trying to find it from a neutral party. Also FWIW it's really hard to just make a prediction of a trade when it's just an idea and get the players right. He's not trying to predict trades, he's just throwing out ideas. Nobody is actually taking it seriously like it's a trade that's going to happen.

Exactly the more you think about it the better it seems. I ass,umed any shot we had of trading Dozier would be to the Mets(assuming they didn't resign Walker), but the Dodgers are a great fit. Just a thought where do you see Dozier batting in the Dodger lineup? Also thank you Dodgers posters for educating me on the Dodgers franchise and their trade tendencies, it's helped me gauge what to expect from this trade.

I agree with this. All I was saying is Dozier helps a lot of their problems. Like other posts haave said it'd be smart if they just traded for him at the deadline and maybe gave up less to get him because all they really need him for is the postseason. Dozier just seems to be a great fit with the Dodgers

You're right I suppose the players going on the DL hurt it a lot, but 7th in the NL in runs and 9th in OPS. That seems pretty average to me. It's not a bad lineup, but it helps to add a few pieces. But I agree I think the Dodgers are the favorite to win the NL west again. All I was saying was Dozier really seems to be a great fit with the Dodgers as he helps with a lot of their problems.

This is a great point, he literally checks every box the Dodgers need. Also there's been a lot of talk that the Dodgers probably will win the division which is true, but remember last year it took a major Giants 2nd half collapse for them to do it. This team overcame a Kershaw injury with their SP depth but what if Turner or another everyday player gets hurt? That'll hurt their lineup a ton, and this is an average Dodger lineup. Although he is not an ideal one but Dozier also gives them a leadoff hitter. It's a perfect fit for the Dodgers. So that should inspire the Dodgers to offer up a little more for him.

I am really curious as to who the AAAA guy could be. It's easy to find lots of lottery tickets in the Dodgers farm system, but not many AAAA types. Either way if we get JDL + Alvarez + one more for Dozier it's a very good trade IMO.

I'm really hoping a trade gets done this week. I think if DaveW rumors are right my guess is we'll get a AAAA player with De Leon and Alvarez. Otherwise I think its De Leon, Stewart, and a low minors player with some potential (sheffield maybe).

I do agree that Doziers value to LA is increased because he hits lefties well. One of those dominant lefties could easily face that lineup twice in a NL series and shut it down. Now adding Dozier would help them out a ton as if he were to go 2-4 with HR 2RBI that would be huge for them in a playoff series as runs come at a premium. Also since they are elite pitchers I realize Dozier likely won't be great against them but he has a career .973 OPS vs Sale and an .829 OPS vs Quintana, so does still hit really good lefties well. Just a thought that should improve his worth to the Dodgers

Really good thought on this one. It seems far fetched but I like the idea of swapping Santiago for Ryu and love the idea of Grossman for Puig, this is assuming hopefully the Dodgers wanna get rid of Puig which could be likely. But like other posts said I don't think the Dodgers wanna get rid of bullpen pitching. So maybe this is a little better, Dozier, Santiago, Grossman, Kintzler for JDL, Ryu, Puig, Stewart or Buehler, and Calhoun(just cuz it seems like the dodgers fan seem very willing to get rid of him) This is all very unlikely as trades like this never go down and there is a lot of stuff to work through, but its fun to think about!

You bring up good points and clearly know what you're talking about. And that is a good amount to ask for, but Puig is a guy the Dodgers have had their trouble with as you would know, being sent to AAA and rumors about him being traded and was mostly a 4th OF in the playoffs, his value is low right now. De Leon and Buehler are just prospects. The odds of 1 turning out let alone both to be very good pitchers is low. I mean a Dodgers writer just wrote about trading both Bellinger and De Leon for Dozier, that's not gonna happen, but no way is it just De Leon in a trade.

Reading on it the plan for the Nats would be to move Murphy to first and Zimmerman to the bench, it seems they're fed up with his play. So yes there is a spot for Dozier with Turner in center like last year and Espinosa at short and Murphy 1B. Really though watching the AL central people would take Eaton for 5 over Dozier for 2. You have no clue where you will be in 5 years anyways, you will have lost Harper, Werth and Murphey so why not get the better player and win this yeat or next? they'll still have an outfield of Werth, Turner and Harper. It's hard after Dozier had an incredible year for a 2B and Eaton had a slightly above average in RF, that the Nats would do this trade for Eaton before snyone else. Eaton has value but not as much as he was traded for.
