  1. These aren't maybe, maybe not questions. These are yes and yes. No doubt if Sano gets in better shape it would lengthen his career, ceteris parabis. And obviously no matter what he does he's going to be a big guy, but there's a difference between 290 and 250 lbs. Even if that keeps him a little quicker or more agile for a year so he can be a 3rd baseman through age 28 instead of age 26. I like Sano and I know he'll end up at 1B/DH, but no doubt he should be busting his butt every day to be at 3B because his value becomes a lot greater to the Twins.
  2. They were gassed tonight. Thibs has gotta use his bench more this is ridiculous. There's no excuse's for him not using it enough. Taj Gibson played 39 minutes tonight and 40+ last night. Seriously TAJ GIBSON played over 80 minutes in the last two days. Our starters play way too much Thibs has gotta be smarter.
  3. My thought would still be hope we sign Darvish and wait till the deadline. If we're contenders then ship out some of the farm for a starter or reliever. But if we can get Darvish then let's hope we get to July with a good record then go hunting for a good pitcher. I like this post tho. We have a lot of prospects that could be major leaguers some day and there's won't be room for all of em on our roster. Hope we contend this year and the prospects take another step then move some for a pitcher.
  4. Jeff Passan tweeted out tonight that the Yankees are working on a package to acquire him. Another tweet says if deal falls through Pittsburgh is still highly motivated to move him.
  5. Yes exactly what I was thinking. Even as a starter to begin the year. One year deal would be a great fit. Say we get Darvish and we have Darvish, Santana, Berrios, Liriano, Gibson. Then we can start Mejia in AAA or in the pen. When Liriano struggles a little bit or Mejia lights up AAA move him to the pen.
  6. Kanley, Duffy, Pressley, Busenitz, Rogers, Hildenberger, Rodney This our bullpen when we head Minnesota in late March? Little underwhelming for what everyone was saying they thought they would do. But if Kanley is OK, and guys like Curtis, Jay, Reed, Eades, Moya step up and just one can have the impact Hildy did it'll look a lot better. Also if Pineda joins the pen in September he could maybe be an impact arm. I really hope we're all in on Darvish though...
  7. I'm obviously still assuming we'll sign/trade for another starter this offseason. If we can do that and acquire one reliever I think it's been a good offseason. If we get one of Archer, Stroman, or Cole for a reasonable trade or sign one of the top 4 starters and are able to get kintzler, Rodney, Cishek or a guy like that I'll be happy.
  8. Just a thought I had for a long time. Worth the risk and I'm glad Twins did it!
  9. Is this sixers team that much worse w/o covington? they're making the wolves look great defensively
  10. I'd like to see us maybe get McGee assuming he is not too expensive. I like the three guys above too tho. Also would anyone take a risk on Pineda? Maybe he comes back this year and could help the pen at the end of the year then next year slides in as a starter. I see an injured Smyly got 2 years $10 mil with $6 mil in incentives. I wouldn't mind a similar deal for Pineda and we sign Rodney to a 1 year deal or another guy to a 2 year deal.
  11. I've been thinking this for a long time. The Jays should sell their assets and start a rebuild. However I have no interest in Donaldson, not for one year. The cost would be way too high. Osuna I definitely want. Stroman and Osuna for: Gordon, Mejia, one of Gonsalves/Romero, Jorge, Enlow, Wade, and Palacios Too little or too much? Or would they want mostly lower level players instead of Gordon, Mejia and the AAA pitchers?
  12. I have no idea the cost of it but if the Marlins are just giving away players it would be interesting for the Twins to make Kepler/Rosario available in a trade for a pitcher then use prospects to acquire Ozuna or Yelich. Not saying I would do it but in the right scenario if we had to give up one of those guys to acquire a top pitcher we could easily turn around and look into what they would cost us.
  13. Great in-depth post here. I love the plan drawn out. As I was reading this I was thinking about how I am expecting the twins will add one pitcher but I am really hoping they're able to add two. One signing and one via trade w/o giving up pitching prospects. Then heading into the year if they have Santana, Berrios, Mejia, Gibson, Romero, Gonsalves, Jorge and two outsider players. Obviously I don't plan on the last three getting a lot of starts, but I feel confident if they need to make a few cuz someone is on the DL.
  14. That's HUGE for this team. If only he woulda got it done tonight. But yes Tyus looks good. I was worried he wouldn't be a serviceable backup but I was way wrong he looks good. Defensively he plays really well for his size/athleticism
  15. Real terrible loss. KAT playing as bad offensively as he did tonight doesn't help because of how bad he is defensively.
  16. Richard (Rick) Pitino. Seems up his alley for some reason
  17. How much would it costs us to get Nick Saban, Coach K, John Calipari, and Urban Meyer to help us recruit him??
  18. I'd try to get Cole and Rivero in the same trade. Or maybe a Stroman/Osuna package or a Archer or Odorizzi and Colome package. That is if the Twins sign a starter. Because if they sign a starter they won't have much left for a reliever or two. But if they are unable to sign a Darvish or Lynn then I would say spend the money on Shaw and McGee and trade for one of Cole, Stroman, Archer. See how the market plays out first. In a perfect world for me they're able to sign Darvish and a 2nd tier reliever like Kintzler or Nicasio and trade for a starter+reliever package for Mejia, Gordon, Romero, Graterol/Thorpe, and few more lower level players.
  19. I love a good post about trades. And I like the trades for pitching. Most of those I would probably do if the other teams would take. I would look into trading for a package of Gerrit Cole and Felipe Rivero. 2 years of Cole and 4 years of Rivero Or a package of Marcus Stroman and Roberto Osuna. 3 years of control of each In return I hope a package of Mejia, Gordon, Romero, Duffey, Stewart/Jorge, Wade/Badoo, Palacios/Miranda, and Jake Reed. Obviously you could do a lot of shuffling with the guys after Mejia Gordon and Romero. Depending on what the teams like you could change just about anything after those guys and add any prospects in our system outside of the top 6-7. I know it'd be a big package but I'd really look into giving up what it takes to get them. I'm not sure if either team is looking to sell yet but we maybe could get Toronto to if they got rid of them then they'd probably trade Donaldson. Pittsburgh may be looking to retool or rebuild so we might need more high upside low level players for a rebuild or might have to throw in a major league player for a retool. That would be tough for me as I really would prefer to not give up any major league position players.
  20. Plan A and C-ish is the choice for me. Go out and pay Darvish 28 mill a year for 4-5 years with a 5th or 6th year option. Obviously a 4 year deal would be best but you need to 5-6 to get him. Sign a solid reliever like Neshak, Kintzler, Nicasio, Shaw, or another mid level reliever. Then trade for Gerritt Cole and Filipe Rivero for a package of Mejia, Gordon, Duffey, Stewart, Jorge, Wade, and Palacios. Maybe this isn't enough and we have to take a couple out and add Gonsalves or Romero. But I would add just about any of our minor leaguers not named Gonsalves or Romero. Another trade combo like is Marcus Stroman and Roberto Osuna. The asking price would obviously be really high for that tho. But I don't want the twins to trade away any current major league talent. This is a team that won so don't break it up and keep this young group together. Don't trade Dozier or Santana unless for some odd reason we're blown away.
  21. Rivero had a 1.67 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP. I don't expect numbers that good this year too, but I don't think there's a RP of that quality on the market and if there was he'd be a lot of money. I'd really like to get Rivero if we do make a trade for Cole even if it costs us some young lottery ticket players.
  22. That's a good point. I have no clue where they'd want to go but I'm hoping rebuild. As I'd prefer to not trade any major league position players. I wouldn't mind trading any of the minor league position players though.
  23. What if we traded for Felipe Rivero too? A lefty coming off a very good year would be a great get for the bullpen. What about Cole + Rivero for Romero + Gordon + Mejia + (Kohl Stewart or Felix Jorge) + Jermaine Palacios + (Edwar Colina or Akil Badoo) Too little or too much?
  24. Brining this up makes me I think. I know it's been a year and hicks didn't perform well offensively last year but would people already call this a bad trade? At least hicks will be on the Yankees big league roster. I would rather have hicks right now.
  25. The one thing I hope to see this year is molly trying different lineups based on who's hot and who's pitching. One thing nobody has talked about on this thread because molitor said it's not gonna happen is buxton batting leadoff. I know he doesn't have the ideal on base % and most of his hits are extra base hits I wouldn't mind seeing him batting leadoff. A lot of the doubles he hits would be singles for most players but he turns them into doubles. So if he's leading off games with a double or a single then stealing second and mauer is walking or doing his ground out to second then you got buxton at third with dozier and sano coming to bat. Also I don't mind dozier leading off if he's most comfortable there Vs RH Buxton/Dozier Mauer Dozier/Buxton Sano Kepler Park Castro Polanco Rosario Vs. LH Buxton/Dozier Grossman Dozier/Buxton Sano Kepler Park Polanco Giminez Escobar
