  1. And, 3 teams later. Oakland picked him up on a waiver claim from Kansas City.
  2. OMG, that photo with Terry Ryan. I swear he's thinking, "If anybody brings up David Ortiz, I'm gonna fling this water bottle at them." Good find Seth.
  3. I commented on this in a different thread and received about the same response as Vanimal46 gave above. Not saying Vanimal is necessarily wrong, but the Twins would be desperately foolish to not pursue Mr. Sasaki's services. Acquiring his talents would already make the off season a success, no matter the teams sale outcome and all.
  4. Japan's best pitcher Roki Sasaki has been posted and is available to MLB teams. He's only 23 years old witch makes him an Amateur Free Agent by MLB rules and can only sign a minor league contract limited to a teams bonus pool. If I understand it correctly. I guess that means a signing in the $5 to $10 million range with another 20% going to the Chiba Lotte marines as a posting fee. Sasaki would then be like any player "called up" to the major league roster and have the 6-year Team control window with 3 years before the arbitration process can begin. I'm not sure what criteria Sasaki will use when choosing a team, but signing him will provide elite pitching at a minimum cost for 3 years and I think even the Twins can afford that. And if they are going to sell the team, Sasaki would provide great value as a salable asset. Will the Twins even pursue signing him?
  5. Payton Eels new winter work outs should have him ready-to-chuck come baseball season.
  6. After KC beating the Astros (from AP): Second baseman Michael Massey, who led off the game with a double and scored on a single by Vinnie Pasquantino, said the front office bringing in experienced veterans with playoff experience like Tommy Pham, Yuli Gurriel, Michael Wacha and Will Smith made this possible. “They’ve been there before, they’ve done it, so I think it’s helped a lot of guys,” Massey said. “It’s helped us, for sure me, to be around those guys and just watch them, more than anything, and see how they go about their business, has been — I think that’s helped us stay even keel.”
  7. My bad, I forgot, they did. I'm probably suffering from late-season collapse syndrome. 😵‍💫
  8. Meanwhile both the Tigers and Royals today accomplished more by winning their respective play off series than the Twins have since 2002.
  9. This team ran out of gas a month ago. We all knew it, and save some miracle, this is the way we expected it to end. We hoped they would find a way to get into the post season, but they didn't. Like a car battery placed on concrete, the life slowly drains away until there's nothing left. Thats what this feels like to me.
  10. We score 1 run, and it's unearned. If you hear a noise its probably Detroit wizzing by.
  11. The Red Sox started us out with Dick Fitts. At least they didn't hammer us with their Wong.
  12. Our new secret weapon, infield singles.
  13. Heck of an inning by Blewett.
  14. Nothing says Twins win like Manny Margot pinch hitting.
  15. Red Sox going for the Winckowski.
  16. Oh geez, the Ronny Henriquez Experience.
  17. Cole Sands looking for win number 10 and would tie Stan Williams who went 10-1 in 1970.
  18. I guess only CC gets RBI's now. Is that in his contract?
