  1. All for it. Our outfield is solid, even w/out Buxton. Rooker getting a deserved shot will not hurt us. Maybe it'll give Cron a deserved day off if we plug him in at 1B as well.
  2. Thanks Ted. Loved listening to the Lewis walk-off. 2 things...very random. 1.) How is it that the Florida State League is the home to so many spring trainings, but very few have the MiLB telecasting capabilities? 2.) Where is Landon Leach? He was part of that crop where we "saved money early on in the draft to spend money on people later" back in 2017.
  3. Same. Prior to his struggles this year, what more does the guy have to do?
  4. Good stuff as always Seth. I know Royce has all the tools, but his second half struggles in the FSL last year, and the first half here have allowed the likes of Michael Davis and Joe Cronin to continue the streak of leap froggers from Cedar Rapids to AA. Royce isn't really striking out a ton at all compared to earlier. So he's making contact, but just hitting to people. Is this accurate? He's got a great head on his shoulders, so I hope he's staying on the positive side of things. I was a bit surprised to see he made the ASG down there, but then again, the talent pool in the FSL-South isn't top notch right now.
  5. Glad we didn't jump on the Jose De Leon deal when his stock was highest. He's been nothing but medical bills for Tampa.
  6. Mah boy!!! Arraez arrived. I’d love to see him hit for days. Like I mentioned a while back, the great problem we’d possibly have is the log jam of infielders now and in the near future. Everybody do great. Trade the right guys when stock is high and get some pitching.
  7. Wow. Balazovic was dominant. Jeffers is proving his worth. Who goes to Pensacola first? Jeffers or Rortvedt. I wouldn't complain about either. Luis Arraez is my #6 overall prospect. He hits. That's half the game. He's sufficient in the other half. I'm excited to see him take a roll of "flat out on-base machine" when he gets the call.
  8. My guy Arraez!!! He'll find his way to the Twins roster if he keeps up what he's been doing all his career. Regardless of what Nick Gordon does when he gets up and running, Arraez deserves the call before Nick.
  9. Let's get Arraez some love even though he slumped last night and had ONLY had 1 hit.
  10. Awesome work Steve. Nice to hear some dope straight from the horses mouth down in Cedar Rapids. I love seeing great people having success on the diamond. Trey's a great person. Love to see him at the All-Star Game in South Bend this summer, but it'd be even better if we get him to Fort Myers to help that lineup's offensive woes. Keep it up Trey. And can I request more Steve Buhr updates from Cedar Rapids throughout the summer?
  11. I'm sure multiple people reading this thread could attest to how great of a person Royce is. He's phenomenal on and off the field. Don't know as much about Kirilloff, but I know many people in the organization view him as the real deal. So far the ONLY thing that really bothers me about these gentlemen who seem to have their heads on straight is the fact that they've hired Boras to represent them. They're smart and wise beyond their years. They knew that Boras was a great way to solidify their financial future. ...just can't stand the work that Boras does.
  12. Sorry if you've answered this in the previous days minor league reports Seth, but what are we waiting on exactly for Wander Javier and Alex Kirilloff? You mentioned Kirilloff's injury briefly when the team rosters were announced, but haven't heard any updates Besides that, great to see the Miracle bats catching up to help the OUTSTANDING pitching performances in the FSL.
  13. Jake. Reed. He's not the end-all-be-all answer, but he deserves a freakin' shot. Going on 5 years from AA & AAA with solid numbers and no MLB opportunity is sickening.
  14. I thought Arraez would be up in Rochester, but they do have a platoon of guys, minus Rooker and Gordon, who seem to be AAAA guys in the infield there. I’m excited to watch these guys throughout the year, but even more after the all-star break.
  15. This is again a solid group of high draft picks. They could really knock the ball around, and out of the ballpark, while causing havoc on the bases with all that speed from Baddoo, Lewis, and Blank. We’re actually heading down for the opening series. Should be fun. With Blank and Cabbage, I thought the same as DocBauers. They both seem to be great athletes who happen to be really good at baseball, and not baseball players who happen to be really good athletes.
  16. Bottomline, you have to win the genetics lottery in order to be drafted. Once you've already won that lottery, what is it? 1 in every 33 make it to the pros? Even when you're called up for a cup of coffee, you're still only making so many hundred a day, if even $200 a day. Ask any minor leaguer NOT living off a signing bonus how $150-$200 a day sounds. They'd light up. Everything is pro-rated off the league minimum. Don't let that fool you. Even a "cup of coffee", does not land anyone a big pay relief. Minor leaguers are living out a dream. Little did these boys know that their dream consisted of them being a financial pawn to billionaires. Owners need to pony up and pay these guys. I read that it would come out to be another $7 million a year to support their minor leaguers and pay them minimum wage (Rookie - AAA). Suck it up and pay. It's a shame owners have been getting away with it for so long. I think so much less of them morally because of it.
  17. The FO makes millions for their decisions. We get "likes" for our comments. What I'm trying to say is this FO knows their $%*#. HOWEVER, that's not going to stop me from preaching the likes of the prospects I likes. Arraez hits. And hits. Watching him play 2B, I wasn't not impressed. In fact, I thought he had very quick hands playing the right side of the infield. He's deceptively quick on the bases, and just has that savvy for the game that you can't teach. Could you imagine though, if aaaaalllllll goes well, we'd have Polanco, Schoop, Gordon, Lewis, Javier, my man Arraez, and sleeper of the sleepers Michael Helman flooding the middle infield for years to come. That's going to be a good problem to have. Eventually, the ball don't lie, and the right person is in the right position come The Show.
  18. Funny how we tout Garver on his way up as a hitting catcher. Then out of no where comes La Tortuga (which is feminine by the way for anyone who took Spanish in high school). Sorry, but I'd give La Tortuga the starting job. He hits, and if a guy like Machado is a +10 wins guy in your lineup, I'd laugh at the +wins from Castro or Garver. So why not give Astudillo the job? Money.
  19. The Schoop signing is a win/win. We needed a holdover, and he could be that, plus some. The "plus some" could be of value as we make a playoff push this season, OR it could be of value if we are far from making a playoff run when we'd become sellers. This made me think of the Shannon Stewart pick up we had back in '03. Granted that was a trade (for Kielty, and WOW what a steal), but Schoop could make a great impact. I'm not expecting that .300+ average, but I expect production and contribution at a high level.
  20. One of the most, if not the most, productive catcher out of the entire draft from 2018 at this point. I like this kid. For everything that was mentioned though, he really seems like he's always been underrated or an underdog. My question is, why? He produces at such an impactful level everywhere he's been. He's definitely still got lots to work out defensively, but he makes himself sound like he's a "tell me once and it won't happen again" kind of player. A true student of the game. I wouldn't mind seeing this kid get pushed a bit more and just stay in Fort Myers. Banuelos could definitely use the extra work back in Cedar Rapids in his stead.
  21. Basically, what I get from Rooker is that he's good. He's not great. Don't know if I agree with the "dominated lower levels". He was .282 in E-Town. Jeffers was .422 w/a few less RBI, and then continued that to Cedar Rapids. I know Cedar Rapids isn't Fort Myers, but I just don't think dominated is the right word. Regardless, I like Rooker. I'd love to get frustrated with him and his abundant strikeouts and sparing walks at the major league level, then see him go back to back behind Sano in game 7 of the ALDS in 2020. Just saying.
  22. I actually do agree with you on possibly trading Gordon. I just thought that ship had sailed due to his AAA slump. So I figured we'd just see what he has to prove now. I definitely agree on Polanco. He and Lewis up the middle could be fantastic. They are both driven gamers. Lewis is a bit more of an extrovert, but both are genuinely kind people as well that I'd love my children to admire (aside from Polanco's PED mistake). As for Rortvedt, I would retract a bit and agree that he will hit better than Butera. Rortvedt is a General on the field as well. I just get frustrated that a .300 catcher is such a diamond in the rough. Hence, my affinity for Jeffers. When I mentioned Jeffers and the AJ comparison, I only say it because of AJ's confidence. Word has it that Jeffers came into CR feeling he should've been there earlier, being very confident of his 2nd round draft position (even though he was projected as a 5th rounder), and again bringing up that he was on the greater side of .400 in E-Town. All of which, I can't argue with, just as I couldn't argue with AJ's confidence. I can attest however, that Jeffers was quite genuine with our younger one this past summer. He gave him a game ball, and gladly signed it after the game (he didn't have a great game). Jeffers definitely doesn't talk as much trash during a game as AJ would either. Regardless, the more TD articles being posted, the more excited I get for this season. I'm excited to read about Enlow at the #9 spot.
  23. So many people in this thread I want to quote. DocBauer, I view you as a solid sage on each thread that emits from TD. I'm glad someone brought up the Gerritt Cole proposition. I remember it as, Gordon, Tyler Jay, and Gonsalves. Should've, could've, and stop regretting. Geez he was good this year though... Gonsalves haters, Stephen Gonsalves has eventually owned every level he's been at. I stress eventually. He doesn't ever come up and "wow" everyone. He is a product of his work ethic. He has figured out every level w/below stunning "stuff". I, for one, am excited for what Gonsalves has yet to show. He'll figure it out. Gordon is 22. I'm over his "prospectusness". As is many of people w/any AAA player, unless they tear it up right away. Now it's just wait and see. Let's give this kid a chance. Dozier was the most recent guy to move from SS to 2B. That didn't happen overnight, but it worked out pretty well. Jeffers comes off as more self-confident guy than Rortvedt. Rightfully so, if you like that type. I really like Rortvedt, after much criticism of his bat, but I like him as I like Drew Butera. Jeffers has the potential to be an A.J. Pierzynski, not as likeable, but likeable because he produces.
