That would be insane to see Wells get a September call up, but doesn’t he have to be on the 40 man? I would think he’s a shoe in for AFL and even a major league spring training invite. Anyone agree? I looked at his numbers and they are among the top 10 in all of minor leagues. Whip being probably the best in the entire system of all teams with that many starts. I’d love to see him, Kirilloff, and Lewis in Arizona and Big league camp. They simply deserve a shot to be tested.

Given Tyler Wells has some of the best starter numbers in the organization, if not the best, I would hope they send him. I love what Moran is doing also

Who all do you expect to go to AFL?
  4. 108Stitches
When do they start naming AFL invites?

The most unfortunate thing about Stewart’s debut is this god awful picture you guys have posted at the top! Poor fella!

Not really impressed by this Alcala acquisition too much.

    Whut.

I agree with everything you said. I’d just like to see more attention in the league given to guys who are DOING the job instead of guys they keep wishing will eventually do it to validate their own predictions. That’s all I’m saying.

Sure that plays a huge role, but let’s not be naïve and pretend that media hype and bonus don’t play a role. Guys like Andrew Vasquez are nowhere on the radar, but he’s got better numbers than most relievers. Hell, Tyler Wells got knocked out of the top 30 and he has as good or better numbers than the top three rounds for 2016 except for Dakota Hudson. If he were a top round guy with a 2.90 career era and a 1.09 whip he would easily be top 100. This all stems from the comments above about Arraez vs Gordon. Nobody wants to admit that if they might’ve been wrong about Gordon. While Arraez IS getting some attention, to just brush off the notion that he should be above Gordon is just simply projection and wishful thinking, not actual statistics.

Rankings sure seem to have a hell of a lot more to do with how much money they have invested in someone rather than actual long term numbers. Bonuses make the media

The fact that Wells was bumped from the top 30 is so wrong. He has better numbers than almost ALL of the ones on there. He needs to be on it. Good for him. Any chance Royce and Kirilloff go up to AA this year ?
  12. 108Stitches
What happened to Kirilloff? Why was he scratched?
  13. 108Stitches
Wells. 7 k in 4 with NO hits? In AA debut!? Why didn’t he start though? Is he a reliever now in AA?
  14. 108Stitches
Oh man that SUUUCKKKKS. Is it looking like another TJ or was to for something else?
  15. 108Stitches
Yes, Wells gave up a 3 run shot and a couple of solos. That is what killed the ERA, otherwise he's probably in with a sub 2 ERA and a whip in the basement.
  16. 108Stitches
    Is Buxton made of glass?
  17. 108Stitches
ANOTHER aa pitcher?? How are they gonna fit all these people on the roster?
  18. 108Stitches
Tyler Wells Instagram shows he’s on his way to Tennessee! Looks like he got the call up
  19. 108Stitches
Tyler Wells AND Alex Kirilloff need to be moved up. Let Alex try the next level. If he’s capable, who cares what his age is. There’s a reason he’s a first rounder so let him eat! I don’t get why you wouldn’t give him a shot. If he can do the job let him do it!

Regarding the fly balls for Wells. It’s due to having a very high spin rate. I heard his is very high which causes the batters to misjudge and swing under it. Here’s a good summary of spin rate and fly balls. It’s nothing to worry about because he just doesn’t give up many hard hit balls. https://www.mlb.com/news/what-statcast-spin-rate-means-for-fastballs/c-212735620

Díaz is out for the season. Multiple fractures and having surgery. Per Miracle broadcast
  22. 108Stitches
Wells is the Twins Corey Kluber! They better not trade him!
  23. 108Stitches
Take away that one 3 run shot Wells gave up and his era is still sub 2 for July...plus his whip is still .93 and average is .190 for the month of July. So those couple of homers he gave up messed the stats otherwise their still phenomenal
  24. 108Stitches
Vasquez slider is ridiculous. That’s what he gets them out on
