Article: MIN 6, BOS 2: Bats Get to Boston Bullpen
Tomj14 replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I agree he didn't have his best stuff, but then why bring him out and ask him to be perfect, then knowing full well if he is not, you are bringing in a relief pitcher and basically asking him to be perfect as well?- 56 replies

Article: MIN 6, BOS 2: Bats Get to Boston Bullpen
Tomj14 replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The Twins did a great job of running up his pitch count after the 4th no doubt, IMO the Red Sox had a better chance of winning that game with Sale pitching the 8th then anybody else. He had given up 3 hits, one a fluke, one was a amazing hit (Escobar) and one solid hit to LaMarre. An 8 year vet, with 1426 innings, 1692 K's, should be able to start the 8th inning with 105 pitches in a 2 - 2 game. IMO also IMO high pressure pitching is "suppose" to be more important than innings or pitch count. And sending a guy out to start a inning with requirement that he is perfect is very high pressure.- 56 replies

I love me some Escobar, but I think Trout might be having one of the best seasons ever. ESPN has Trout's WAR at 6.6 and Escobar's at 2.2. Plus Trout's OPS is .217 higher at this time.- 56 replies

Told my son last night when Berrios came out in the 7th, that he would be pulled as soon as somebody got on base, and you could see on Berrios face he knew he was out when he hit the guy. IMO, how do these pitchers ever learn to pitch deeper into games if they aren't ever given a chance unless they are perfect? I will also say the Red Sox did the Twins a favor taking Sale out after 7, with LaMarre, Mauer and Rosario (he looked lost against him last night) up.- 56 replies

Article: MIN 9, CLE 3: That’s Our Eddie
Tomj14 replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
it was a 5 - 3 games, and he wasn't given a chance to come out in the 5th after only 63 pitches, IMO you have to give them guys a chance. Unless of course they are trying to extend his season by limiting his pitches and/or innings. The look on Odorizz face when he gave up a hit in the 5th, looked like he was expecting to be taken out. Trying to perfect could take a toll on the pitchers.- 33 replies

Sadly Morrison looks like the Kendrys experiment. As for calling up people, nobody in AAA does anything for me. (except maybe a catcher) Carter - .198, and 23 K's in 74 at bats, no thanks. Wade is the guy I want to see up.- 85 replies

Article: Trying to Get a Reed on Addison
Tomj14 replied to Jamie Cameron's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I am not sure it is a depth issue. Molitor needs to realize that the starters as a team are averaging less than 5 2/3, and he needs a plan every night for the bullpen to pitch 3 to 5 innings. IMO he doesn't go into the game with that plan and reacts to the game situation and puts Pressley and Reed in almost every game. Then Duke and Hildy fill the gaps. Why have not have a plan for Magil to pitch the 5th and/or 6th in games Odorizzi and Romero start or something other than the starter gets in trouble in the 5th bring in Pressly to finish that inning start the 6th, matchup up Duke and Hildy for the 7th, Reed 8th every game and hope Rodney saves the game. -

It is funny people mention Gibson, the one player everybody has wanted to get rid of the last few years because he wasn't living up to expectations, and Dozier who others having been trying to get traded for more prospects. Or Romero who has all of 8 major league starts. -

Having him on a pitch or inning limit is NOT the same as watching for Fatigue (mental or physical) I don't think anybody on here thinks it is a good idea for him to pitch though fatigue.- 44 replies

Article: Twins Sign Belisle: What Does This Mean?
Tomj14 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Every guy I mentioned would return something, sure that something is probably a mid tier prospect that as Twins fans we will over hype and claim to be the future and be unwilling to trade because we are still two years away from really contending. In a few years if will be questionable that they deserve a 40 man roster spot and again as Twins fans will be waiting for our next mid tier prospects to bring us to the promise land.- 82 replies

If the Twins are selling, they should go all in. Rodney, Reed, Magil, Presley, Lynn, Ororizzi, Dozier, Escobar. Why half arse it. They have replacements for all of them.- 82 replies

Just guessing here, but could it be, they are worried he takes off in AAA and they have to remove somebody off the 40 and if he gets hurt they are short outfielder?

I didn't say he was ready. I said "If Graterol continues to pitch this well the rest of the year and moves up a few levels, I don't understand why he couldn't be ready sometime next year." Obviously if he doesn't continue to pitch lights out in all levels he pitches this year and next, he wouldn't be ready. I just don't understand the philosophy that a pitcher has pitch in the minors for 6 or 7 years prior to being called up. If a kid can throw upper 90's with another plus pitch for strikes he could/should be able to help the major league club.

Article: MIN 6, STL 0: Fernand0 R0mer0!
Tomj14 replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
IMO if a pitcher has two pitches that can get guys out in the minors no problem, it seems like a waste to have him spent extra years working on the 3rd and 4th pitch in the minors. But I will say if the team notices a guy is a bit fragile, it might be a good idea to have them in the minors working on pitches.- 79 replies

I am not saying it is or isn't, but comparing him to Berrios doesn't mean anything, you could compare him to others that have about the same innings that have done really well. So far it looks great but maybe a week earlier stops a 8 game losing straight. It doesn't matte since this is what happened, I just it interesting that sometimes waiting too long can hurt a team.- 79 replies
