Hawkins needs to reemphasize to his relievers that when they enter a game, they SHOULD NOT HIT OR WALK BATTERS. If the guy in the bullpen can't seem to throw strikes or close to strikes, don't let him get into the game and get somebody else warming up. Another LUCKY win. Those catch up to a team in a hurry and soon go the other way.

The reality of the game was that: Wallner made a bonehead play in the OF. Unacceptable, this is MLB. Martin made a bonehead play on the bases. Unacceptable, this is MLB. Lee not only can't hit but after all his time playing baseball doesn't know how to bunt. Between Banda and Sands, the game was nearly BLOWN. A WP each by Banda & Sands = inexcusable for relievers. A HBP each by Lawyerson & Funderburk = inexcusable for relievers. Larnach came in to pinch hit and hit into a Double Play. Wallner went 1-4 but struck out TWICE. Didn't see Lee's errant throw = on him or on the 1B being unable to adapt to it. Funderburk "Earns" a save when he puts the tying runs on WITHOUT giving up a hit and except for a good play by Keaschall, the game could have been tied. A win based on pure luck; the other team's inability, NOT the Twins' ability or skill. Some benching of position players, more instruction to relievers, potential demotions.

Report Card: F = Austin Martin threw to the wrong base, allowing the eventual 2nd run to go to 2B. F = Josh Bell, with 0-3 with all 3 being K's. F = Royce Lewis, 0-2, GIDP F = Brooks Lee, 0-3 C = Caratini, GIDP, Couple nice plays at 1B, Single in the 9th with team trailing C = Jeffers, GIDP, At least he GOT a hit. F = Matt Wallner, weak ground out to P & out on a foul tip with the game on the line. F = Trevor Larnach, Game winning opportunity in the bottom of the 9th was a K. F = Justin Topa, Blowing the game, Saddling Kody with the undeserved loss. F = LaTroy Hawkins, Letting Shelton bring in Topa with the score 0-0 - 1 Runner on base. F = Derek Shelton, = Bringing in Topa in a 0-0 game after the Spring Topa had F = Hitting Coaches, = Total lack of team situational hitting F = Twins Management = New Year - SOS F = Twins Ownership = SOS - Pull your head out from the orifice it is in.

WAY MORE THAN JUST THREE !! Larnach needs to prove he belongs with this team. One of Kreidler, Gray or Arcia needs to take hold of the backup SS job. Lewis needs to start hitting and show he has a future in Minny Caratini or Jackson needs to step up as a viable backup catcher. One of Martin or Outman needs to step up as the 4th outfielder. The assortment of non-roster relievers needs to have someone emerge from the pack. The roster of relievers: Banda, Kent, Orze, Sands and Topa need to get in gear if they really want a big league job and/or want to remain with the organization.

Twins Add Zak Kent to Bullpen Mix with Waiver Claim
Jacksson replied to Cody Christie's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
On the plus side, Lopez will come off of the 60 Day DL, just after the 2026 World Series and remain non-injured throught the off season but will then probably once again be designated as being injured for the start of the 2027 Spring Training. Stupid, antiquated MLB rule (along with a host of others) in need of review & updating. -

Any trade of any kind with the Cubs would have to include getting 1B Jonathan Long in return. Start with that player as the focus of what we want in return and then structure a complement of players that the Twins can offer for his services as well as any other of their players to receive in return.

Tom Pohlad offered the Second Opionion on Lopez. Pohlad stated, “He’s just fine and will pitch all season long”. He further stated, “The Twins are serious contenders for the American League Central Division Championship; we will win it in a walk.” “Start ordering your 2026 Play-off and World Series Tickets NOW !!” “Be sure to lock down your 2026 Season Tickets now; they’re going fast.”

Should have dumped him when they could have during the offseason. Along with: Ryan, Jeffers, Larnach, and perhaps Buxton. Too late now. The sinking ship has started to take on even more water.

Seems like a prime opportunity to involve a third or fourth team in a trade with the Astros involving Paredes.

Would be interesting to know who wanted a full rebuild (Derek?) and who wanted to continue the POHLAD path of APPEARING to be in contention (Tom?) for sure. Could be that by the 2026 trade deadline, the Twinkies will be so far out of it that Tom gives the order to Zoll to undertake the full rebuild. Perhaps that is the TOM plan all along - once the MONEY for season ticket sales and renewals are in the Pohlad Treasure Chest to strip the team down to the bare walls at the 2026 trade deadline for the balance of 2026 and for 2027 when a lockout may take place. Better to only have a minimal payroll in the event of a work stoppage, then come back as optimistic heroes for 2028. Meddling by Tom would help to explain the haphazard roster building in the offseason by Flavey that has taken place since Joe got booted out. A PLAN wasn't at all clear. I still believe that the 2025 mid-season sell off took place to have the dumping of Correa be of ZERO cash impact on the P & L. That is the way it worked out. After the disposal of high marquee players is taken off the table due to the negative fan impact, the next option to trim away the 30MM cost of dumping Correa, was to deal away from the strength of the bullpen. Back at that time, the goal of the organization was to make a buck, or. at least not to lose 30MM on a guy who doesn't even play for you anymore. Even though Joe was "in charge" at that time, it is logical to conclude that older brother Tom was influencing Joe's decisions by exerting some level of string pulling on "little brother" back then, and, perhaps all along. You know how big brothers can be.
