  1. We have much greater concerns as a country than where candidates stand on the Hyde amendment and other socio-cultural issues. What I find obnoxious is that the Hyde Amendment is viewed as racially oppressive legislation. Overturning this would basically make it a lot easier for people of color to have unprotected sex, transmit STDs to one another and exterminate more black babies. I would give Corey Booker or Elizabeth Warren or Kamala Harris five minutes each to explain this to me and allow me a five minute retort where they cannot interrupt. I really could care less if Biden "flip-flopped" here. He is a seedy character and a complete space cadet who would be a horrendous president. This is nothing more than Biden trying to appeal to a broader base and it only goes to show what a political whore he is. We need to just ignore him and maybe he will go away. Some goes for mayor Pete
  2. As a soft supporter of Trump I detect a very condescending tone. It's not like I find it hurtful, though. Continue, I would like for you to expand on it
  3. No amount of spin doctoring from the media is going to matter. Approval ratings and think tanks about this stuff meant nothing last time. I think the hatred for Trump runs so deep in some people (and in some institutions) that it is irrational. Trumps loudest critics are hypocrites because they are as bad as he is in their own way. This is the kind of thing that galvanized the public in support of Trump and it is the kind of thing, quite frankly, that will make me vote for him this time around. There are lots of people who didn't vote last election who will come out in droves to vote for Trump. If people can't see that or conceive it then they will learn when it happens, just like they did the last time. Trump is partially the by product of a hyper-sensitive, finger-wagging, politically correct academic "white intelligentsia" that has done nothing to help this country. These are the types that will get Trump elected again. The democrats needs to work on policy and FAST. Biden opened his campaign with Charlottesville. Think about that for a minute.
  4. Precisely. Where are we going to get starting pitching from? These are the kinds of hard decisions that need to get made sometimes. Do I know for sure we should trade Sano for starting pitching? No, but why is the notion that we ought to consider it so far off base? Unless one is of the belief that we never should trade any of our guys for starting pitching. Well.....we honestly never have and how has that worked out?
  5. Did the initial post suggest that we should DFA him? Is all criticism to be viewed as "PANIC" now? The guy suggested we trade him at the deadline and while I do not agree with that he has a right to his opinion without being mocked. If anything Sano has proven thus far this season that he has little interest in evolving as a hitter. What the heck. We might as well start considering that maybe he can be a trade chip to bring in pitching. This isn't a discussion that should be verboten
  6. Barring some groundbreaking reveal there is NO WAY the senate is going to let the articles of impeachment go through. It is a fools errand on the part of democrats to pursue this and it is stunning to me that a veteran like Nadler is going to take this all the way to zero. He might just have a stroke if he doesn't calm down.
  7. What's the topic? This is "general politics" It's all good Mike.
  8. I asked you to generalize "left wing" people. I guess you won't do that and that is fine. Just figured I would ask
  9. Your message seems to be that "right wing" people don't love freedom and are scared of other people. What are "left wing" people according to Mike Sixel? Just curious
  10. This. So this. The baseball minds know this team is very good and very dangerous right now. I was at my nephew's graduation in Cornell yesterday and I wore a red Twins cap. A guy from NH chatted me up in passing and he only wanted to say how much the Twins were kicking ass this year. Who cares what ESPN says? Who even watches ESPN anymore!
  11. If we are going to be consigned to waiting for "respect" from the "national media" then we might be waiting an awful long time for something that may never come. I honestly could care less about what ESPN or some national publication might say about this team. I just want us to win meaningful games in the postseason. We have won precisely ONE postseason game in 17 seasons and we were there a bunch of times last decade only to get slaughtered like lambs while every other team in our division made it to the World Series. Enough of the woe is me "we don't get enough love from ESPN" garbage. I just don't want to hear it. And by the way..... I live in NY (granted not in the metro area) and people are talking about this team. Perhaps they are friends and acquantances of mine being kind, but they have been mentioned on WFAN here by hosts who are big baseball fans. Just a couple of weekends ago Rocco Baldelli was a guest on Talking Baseball with Ed Randall on Sunday morning. This is a national baseball show based out of NY and he and the Twins were given HUGE praise. People who care about baseball know the Twins are good.....RIGHT NOW. And there is the rub. I am interested in this team doing something in the postseason. If we win 100 games and get swept out in the first round AGAIN, what then? Are we still wondering about why we aren't getting "respect"??
  12. If a perp attacks a cop? My thought process is the cop should do everything necessary to make sure he gets out of it. This excludes literally nothing in extreme circumstances
  13. I am, but you can "shine a light on police misconduct" and that is part of what you do for a living so go for it. What I can't take is reading stuff like this.... "Most of us had a boss or two who treat others as police officers treat anyone they meet on the street. We have all quit those jobs. This tells you all you need to know." The above is one of a few posts here that have generalized police in a ridiculous way. If you have an axe to grind with law enforcement I guess you have your dream job. Maybe it is just me, but I tend to trust the police over those who they are apprehending. One is trying to uphold the law and the other broke the law. If there is a physical confrontation between an officer and a criminal started by the criminal I root for the officer to beat the criminal to a pulp. If I had a choice to live next to a police officer or a criminal I pick the officer ten times out of ten. If that makes me an outcast here then I own it.
  14. Police activity is already . Where does "public surveillance" end? Should we just allow people recording you at work? How about I show up at your work, provoke you then hit record so everyone could see your reaction? It is out of hand.
  15. It's all about representing the facts fairly. If a video is put out and it only shows part of what happened then I'm not for it. I guess you are
  16. I don't, but I do think the videos people put online of these exchanges need to be made illegal. It isn't fair because we do not see HOW it all transpired and police are being tried in the court of public opinion without people knowing all the facts and actions of the person being detained. Over the last ten years (with the advent of social media) people have been emboldened to challenge the police. These videos cause a reaction with a segment of the population and it is counterproductive.
  17. I don't understand the paranoia, Ben. If you missed a few court dates and had a warrant out for you that's when you worry about cops looking for you.
  18. Huh?
  19. Interesting little clip I just found. Not as much like Buck on this one, but I see a bit of a resemblance. Look at the cast of characters from the 2004 season, I think
  20. A couple of weeks ago I watched sort of a highlight reel of Baldelli as a player. His stance and mechanics were eerily similar to Buxton's
  21. That is going to be under review, I suppose. WE actually don't know enough about the case to make that judgment. I think it is important to review staements by the police, other witnesses and whatever else that might have captured on surviellance before what the kid's friend captured on his phone. As is the case with a lot of these phone recordings we don't see how this escalated. Let's not pretend for a second this guy was "minding his business" when the police rolled up on his and beat him down. The dude was a fugitive for various charges of domestic violence, missed two court dates and resisted arrest. It's nearly 2:00AM on a Sunday and he is on his way to get a tattoo? Hey...The cops used excessive force, but I don't think anyone should be "outraged" over this considering the circumstances
  22. The cops have been placed on administrative leave (rightfully so) and the guy who got punched in the face is in a cage (where he belongs) awaiting trail. Cyprian Luke, of Morristown, was a "fugitive wanted for aggravated assault" when Dover police tried to take him into custody early Sunday, the local mayor and public safety director said at a news briefing Monday. He allegedly resisted arrest, they said, and the aftermath played out on shocking cellphone video. So the cops are dispatched to bring in a fugitive who then resists arrest. I know this is going to upset a lot of people here, but I really don't have a problem with this guy getting punched in the face.
  23. Law enforcement is supposed to detail criminals and law breakers. If a law breaker fails to comply law enforcement runs out of options. They are, in the simplest terms: "crime fighters" If a criminal who is supposed to be detained fights it....what exactly do you prescribe? The cop is supposed to take abuse and just let the perp go? Yeah. We have fundamental differences on this one
  24. It's a two way street. The guy got beat up and that's his fault. The cops used excessive force. To blame the police only is wrong
