  1. How bout this. I'll continue to root for the Team I've been a fan of my whole life, and you can root for a player on the team (I can only assume) you are a fan of to fail.
  2. And yet Correia turned out to be a good pitcher. It's almost as if guys who get payed to evaluate talent are better at it than the fans.
  3. People still get killed for being gay. Having a crowd scream slurs me would scare the hell out of me if I was in a similar situation. In general people are OK... groups? Not so much.
  4. Just to throw some more gasoline on the fire here... The good Liriano showed up in Pittsburgh today. Liriano has 8 K's through 5 innings and has given up 3 hits and no runs so far against the Mets. Yes it's against the mets... but MLB tonight (today) went through all his pitches today and it actually looks like his mechanics aren't terrible. I hope Liriano finally gets it together, so much lost potential.
  5. that's the short answer. long answer: yeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssssssss
  6. I seriously doubt the twins didn't make serious offer for Grienke and Sanchez. Aren't unverifiable statements fun?
  7. That would actually be ideal. If Pelfrey and Correia play well enough to continue their success... The Twins either are somehow in playoff contention, or they are close but not close enough. Twins get overpaid and send those guys off to contenders. Twins get prospects and more payroll flexibility for next year's much better free agent class.
  8. Good start by a guy who likely had 1 or 2 chances left before he forced the Twins to take him out of the rotation. If Pelfrey can turn into a solid rotation guy... The Twins could have something unthinkable before the season started... Rotation depth
  9. This is an unforgivable error. G.R.O.G.! Get Rid of Gardy
  10. So Twins draft 4th. What are the odds Appel is available at that spot? And that the Twins draft him? I really feel like the Twins should bite the bullet on a Boras client for this one. They know he doesn't have the leverage of going back to college, and he's the closest to MLB ready of a pitching prospect in the draft. I realize he's been rumored as the #1 or #2 prospect so the odds aren't great... but Man would it be nice to get this guy in a Twins uniform.
  11. I really don't understand the compulsion to define a statistical category for defense. Defense is just not something that can be defined on stats alone. Certain stats can get your a vague picture of what a player is like on the field... but it really doesn't do any justice to watching a player on the field.
  12. oh look. This thread again. Yeah let's fire the manager for not wanting to overuse his bullpen early in the year by not pulling a starter who looked like he was finally getting it together.
  13. It's not to say that THIS year Mastriani has much to worry about with his 25 man roster spot... but Let's face it... He's on his last or 2nd to last year as a viable backup for the Twins (and there will be little market for him when he's done here) Mastriani needs to impress to show his value to the REST of the league if he wants to continue to earn a paycheck above AAA
  14. That's obviously not my point. What I'm saying is people present their baseless speculation as some sort of proven fact. Or in this case, claim to have any knowledge whatsoever on Mastriani's medical condition or the Twins handling of it. There is plenty of room to discuss things without the inane BS that people attempt to pass off as evidence.
  15. It's almost as if a bubble player tried to play through an injury knowing was one of his last chances.
  16. Yes we should. There is a lot of talking out of one's ass that happens on a forum. People claim to know that the Twins could have signed player X but were cheap... or Lowballed player y. My personal favorite is the people who claim to know the trade market for a player. Claiming that they know the Twins could have gotten a better package for a player with absolutely zero knowledge on the situation.
  17. Slowey had a right to privately go to management, the public and defiant nature he chose to voice those concerns lost him any right to sympathy for how he was treated. Slowey complained about the bullpen role before he was even used in the pen. His attitude likely affected his preparation for the role, and I have just as much evidence to state he intentionally prepared poorly for his role as you have in claiming that Slowey's injury was in any way related to his usage (none).
  18. oh the poor thing... used 3 times in 4 days! what's next? Prison camp?
  19. So the Twins picked the wrong starter about to stop producing meaningful innings to hitch their wagon to. The horror.
  20. I'm convinced. The Twins used Slowey as a scapegoat to distract from growing rumors that TC is actually a bigfoot (which completely explains his raw animal-like power)
  21. Not quite a comparable situation... but Aroldis Chapman went from being stretched out as a starter to a closer in a similar time frame. Liriano went to a similar role mid-season last year, then went back into the starting rotation. It's amazing the excuses people will make for a AAAA pitcher who just couldn't hack it in the majors.
  22. Or Baker at every level of his development was seen as a higher-value prospect. At that point in their respective careers the Twins and outside observers saw more value in Baker's stuff than Sloweys. Slowey didn't speak up, he made demands and came across as a spoiled child.
  23. Slowey acted bigger than the team, and bigger than the game. He was Kevin Slowey not C.C. Sabathia. Far better pitchers than Slowey with far better resumes than Slowey accepted bullpen demotions. He simply wasn't good enough to start, and should have accepted his role like a man. Instead he whined his way off the team, & there were reports he failed to properly disclose injuries to the team doctors. Quit painting Slowey like a victim. He's a professional baseball player not a martyr.
  24. Luis Rivas. Nobody could handle a blade quite like him
  25. In a year or 2 when this team is back on top of the AL Central... you'll all be back.
