    I don't like the idea of creating a blackhole in your lineup should the game get tied up. Butera is not enough of a defensive upgrade to justify his bat.

    Thinking someone is going to trust Liriano in a stretch run is just as stupid. You can trade him for a player on the level of Cole Devries... or HOld on to him and not further deplete your roster for the rest of the year... If someone actually offers something worthwhile, then sure trade him... but for a throwaway prospect the trade is not worth adding to the already huge depth problem in the rotation.

    If the Twins were to go to a 4 man rotation Gray would be out and one of Slama/Guerra/Waldrop/Oliveros would be up... It would be an interesting way to give these kids an early tryout for next year's club.

    The Twins absolutely failed on this signing... but I hope it doesn't scare them away from Japan for good. Yu Darvish is evidence that talent can come out of that league. I really like the extra emphasis international signings have taken since the building of target field. One of the less publicized benefits of the extra revenue. I don't think the Metrodome era Twins take the risk they did on Sano.

    Gold gloves are not position specific for outfielders. It just goes to the 3 best defenders, regardless of outfield positioning.
