  1. When healthy, he's certainly in the conversation at the very least. But he's got to be healthy. Regardless, he's fun as hell to watch! That is for certain.
  2. There was also a pretty stiff wind blowing out to left, too. That ball was hit plenty high to get up in it. Still quite a blast though.
  3. Garlick PH for Larnach and remained in the game. At the time, he would have faced a lefty, but LaRussa changed pitchers after the PH announcement, so he ended up facing a RH pitcher instead.
  4. This Buxton guy can flat out play!

  5. This team is so much better with Buxton in the lineup. What he's doing right now is video game-esque and it's amazingly fun to watch. It's also great to see him take this team and become the leader it needs. That fire after hitting the game winner today is something this team has lacked for a while.
  6. Seems that between the extension and the lack of clear veteran clubhouse leader, he's simply stepped into that role. It's fun to see, that is for sure. He knows that it's his team now.
  7. That's the kinda game I expect from the offense. Hopefully this is a good springboard for the bats, but that remains to be seen. Great game though! Let's break out the brooms tomorrow!
  8. Congratulations, Miguel Cabrera, on joining the 3,000 hit club!

  9. One other thing to take away from last night's game is that it's nice to have a game handed to the Twins instead of the Twins handing a game to the opponent. It's not really encouraging, but I'll certainly take the win.
  10. I didn't plan for Kirilloff, Kepler or Sano to be anywhere but the bottom third of the order. I like Correa in the 2 hole. It's leadoff, #3 and #4 spots that I can configure in a couple of ways depending on matchups. Arraez, Buxton and Polanco can round out the top 5 just fine. I figured that Sanchez would be flipped, and that hasn't happened. And he's kind of what blows up most of the way that I'd build the bottom of the order. But I had hoped that Kirilloff would step up and produce and possibly move up, but I certainly wasn't planning on it.
  11. I was looking more at Jeffers vs Garver, but that's not an unfair comp either. Especially since it backs my point!
  12. I'm fairly confident that they will warm up eventually. That said, they need to get healthy in order to do that too and that's not a given. Heading into the season, I was figuring that Kirilloff would be a constant in the lineup and thrive. I also expect more out of Buxton, Correa, Polanco and Jeffers. I expect all will start hitting relatively soon. Kirilloff being out an extended period hurts those odds, in my view. I don't expect Sanchez to be anything more than what he is currently. Not sure what to make of Urshela yet. Kepler is a complete wild card. Sano will heat up at the end of June like he usually does. If Kirilloff is out for a while, Sano will play plenty. Key departures from last years lineup are Garver and Donaldson. I don't see either or both of those seriously impacting the lineups productivity if they were here. It would be better, but not by leaps and bounds to this point in the season.
  13. If I didn't see it for myself, I wouldn't believe it either kid!
  14. I don't recall that, but that doesn't mean it wasn't the case. But more importantly, from what I can tell, Dougie hasn't been in baseball since getting fired from Toledo in 2019. So I don't think that I'd consider him the answer either if that's your argument.
  15. And from what I can tell, Doug hasn't been in baseball since he got fired from the Mud Hens in 2019.
  16. Great to see Ryan answer the bell. It would have been fun to see if he would have gone out for another inning if he were stretched out more.
  17. Misery loves company! Bring on the weekend series! And hopefully some decent weather!
  18. I like Dick's style quite a bit. He can get a little over zealous at times, but you know that he's enjoying himself in the moment and that can be fun. I was at the Kubel game and his excitement fit right in with what was going on in the stands. Every time I hear that call, it get chills because he puts me right back into that atmosphere for that moment.
  19. Welcome back to the lineup, Buxton!

  20. Oh yeah, definitely true. It's just amusing/scary to see things unravel like that. And to the extent that a blowout was turned into an extra inning affair so quickly.
  21. Another very good outing for SWR. Hopefully he's found that consistency that's been lacking the last couple of years. that Wichita game though...wow...
  22. Some hits would be swell.

  23. At the risk of sounding like a broken record...I'm just not going to drop the needle.
  24. I see this as a two part question. Can he be a reliable option in the backend of the bullpen? I'm not convinced either way. Perhaps the bigger question is this though; are there better, more reliable options there? I don't know that there are. At least right now. So, it's sort of a case of he's basically got to be one way or another until Rocco is able to find someone that is. And they need more than just one reliable arm for late game situations, so it becomes a circular argument. Not a confidence instilling scenario.
  25. The money grubbing that professional sports get into is getting even more ridiculously ridiculous with this. Pro golfers and their walking billboards are a bit different in that they don't make a salary in the first place, so it's another means for them to make money. But even there I have my limits. That isn't the case for team sports. Jerseys used to be about the team. It's getting to be just another chunk of real estate to plaster another ad on, just like at the ballparks. It gets old to constantly get bombarded with it all.
