  1. Sanchez thinks it's 2011 again tonight.
  2. Dick really needs to quit begging for a bunt...even when I think he's right in the case of Buxton.
  3. I'm guessing that you're suggesting that the same intrepid reporter shown earlier in the broadcast get right on that?
  4. I'm not convinced that is the bargain you make it out to be...
  5. I sometimes wish we had the technology to superimpose a Q-bert style thought bubble at times like that.
  6. If they dyed the baseballs grey, these TV guys couldn't say "rub up the balls" repeatedly while snickering in the background. Juvenile antics must be maintained!
  7. That was still spring training though. Does that still count?
  8. No runs allowed after the Twins scored one? What is this madness?
  9. Nice heads up base running Buxton! Where are these fundamentals coming from?! Wherever they were, glad to have them on board today.
  10. Heck of a read on that ball by Zukes.
  11. Even our fielders that can field can't field...
  12. I once got laid off the day after Thanksgiving. My reward was getting thrown onto a roof in Detroit Lakes framing in the middle of January. Of course, I got my current office job when it started to warm up.
  13. It's time to call up guys that have nothing left to prove in the minors. Clearing space for them as soon as possible should be a priority. Some of these moves don't even require thought. It's time to play for the future and get rid of guys holding this team back.
  14. It doesn't just have to be sunk cost either. Trading good veterans to bring in youth is the same thing, just the opposite side of things. If chipping in a few dollars brings more in return for players, that could be a wise investment. It sucks to eat money on a bad investment, but it sucks a lot more to continue to ride that poor investment into the ground and loose even more. A good businessperson will cut their losses without thinking too much about it. Admitting failure and moving on from it is a sign of someone that knows what they're doing. Good GM's have deals go sour on them too. It's how they deal with it that separates them from the bad GM's.
  15. Where I would disagree is that if you're the owner, you're on the hook for the entire contract if that player stays on the team regardless of performance. At least if you move him and eat some of the contract, you're cutting your losses and getting something in return. It sucks to keep paying a guy that isn't on your roster, but at least you aren't paying all of it.
  16. While I think this is a valid consideration, there are only 30 of these positions and not many open up a year. As much as I hate heat and humidity, if my dream was to be a MLB GM, I'd be willing to relocate to Arizona, Texas, or Florida without question. I'll adjust and make due if I have to. Besides, they'd be in Fort Myers by mid-February and someplace warm for the Winter Meetings in early December. Business can be done via phone or video conference if need be. That would cut the winter down enough to survive it.
  17. So, basically what Bo Ryan did with Greg Gard. However it plays out for Antony, that's a classy move by TR and a humbling sign of loyalty if its true. It's hard not to respect that.
  18. Payroll should go down just by virtue of going younger. I don't think it's really something to be paranoid or upset about, it should be expected. I would say if that is how you're reacting, that would be overreacting.
  19. That is exactly what I thought and I'm most afraid of.
  20. I don't care so much about the series. I can more about their progression and development. Awfully hard to progress while sitting on the bench. They're in their early 20s, they don't need rest after having a week off a week ago. Santana doesn't need to play.
  21. I'm interested to see the player movement between Rochester and Minneapolis in the next week or so. I think that will be telling on who was pulling the strings on those decisions.
  22. I was at the game ranting about that very thing yesterday. I got a bit louder when Santana turned a can of corn into a double. Like you said, Mauer makes a little bit of sense, but Sano and Buxton should be playing every day. There's no excuse for them not to be.
