  1. It'll be a hell of a lot more if I drink Scotland out of Scotch tonight!
  2. Nah, far less serious. Colorectal surgeon.
  3. There are so many days where wish I had Scotch at work, let alone an emergency stash... That story is hilarious, by the way! Love it!
  4. I appear to be in trouble then. BREAK OUT THE EMERGENCY BOURBON!
  5. For a game like this, for that length, I really don't have enough Scotch...
  6. Yup, I can see that. May was the one I was most sorry to see go too. I just didn't want them to dismantle the bullpen to the extent they did. That may not be the greatest reason, but I think that continuity has its benefits, particularly for the manager and his staff.
  7. Agreed. The Rays have a knack for these things. I was in the camp that wanted the Twins to bring back at least two of three relievers (Clippard, Wisler and May). Obviously, letting Clippard go has worked out. Even with the seasons that May and Wisler have had, they're an upgrade (even if slightly) over what was brought in.
  8. FWIW... @Vanimal46 posted this a few minutes ago in the "Ex Twins thread". "Wisler update on the Rays… 11 appearances 10.2 IP, 0.84 ERA, 14:2 K:BB"
  9. My psyche probably could have done without reading this...yikes! It probably doesn't matter, but the team is in a different position than it's been since this FO took over. It remains to be seen if they actually take advantage of being a seller rather than a (timid) buyer.
  10. Lynn was terrible to start out because he didn't have a spring training. He came into camp quite late, so he was behind to start the season.
  11. Love this quote from him: “I think my favorite part is the relationship you form with the pitchers. I take a lot of pride in that. It’s not about me back there. My job is to get the best out of those guys. For me, I try to be there for them if they want me to catch extra. Get to know them off the field. What’s their personality? And most important, what is their stuff like?” That's an impressive perspective from a guy his age. I look forward to seeing how he works through the system. Thanks for the write up, Seth!
  12. Just as "meaningless" as run prevention. They're both important.
  13. That's an interesting read. I always like reading perspectives like his. To see how the game changed, on many fronts, even during his career is interesting. We know its been happening, but to hear the inside perspective is interesting.
  14. No doubt. They should really put together a book or pamphlet that they can hand out or sell at the ballpark that tells you these things. Maybe give the media a guide that has that sort of information.
  15. Sano poked his head above the Mendoza line, I see. Edit: Well, just the top of his head now...
  16. But did they explain how to tell whether someone is right or left handed? That's the hard hitting analysis I'm after!
  17. Only 15 hits allowed by Twins pitchers today. So, there's that!
  18. Gladden: "You can tell when a guy is left handed when his pants are buckled off to the side." I always wondered how I could tell whether some was right or left handed.
  19. Perfect! I did look it up. Rooker is on the 40 man, but he's another bat first guy. Astudillo is also on the 40 man. Options aren't great, but they are there...
  20. Do they even have another healthy outfielder on the 40 man? Broxton isn't exactly pushing his way back into the big leagues either. And I'd rather Celestino get the big league experience over Broxton anyway. Heck, let Gordon play more CF and bring up another infielder. Aside from Miranda, do they have any of those? I don't know what Miranda's defense looks like either.
  21. Ideally, they would be. Injuries have forced their hand, unfortunately.
