    The other consideration that I have not seen mentioned is that Cave had more MLB experience. For a team that was expected to be a serious contender, keeping proven players (even of Cave's caliber) over unproven ones makes sense.

    And he's trending in the right direction of late, no? Perhaps that's what teams were waiting to see?

    It would only figure that in a season like this, with such potential for multiple moves at the deadline, that they become paralyzed by other inactivity in the market and get stuck with most or all of those that should be dealt. That seems very 2021 Twins-esque. Whatever can go wrong, most certainly will go wrong.

    I think my coping strategy for the rest of the season is to watch/listen solely for the purpose of seeing what asinine ways this team finds to lose. It's almost entertaining in its own right, sadly.
