  1. I heard that the hang up was the inclusion of Schilling's bloody sock.
  2. I think Suzuki, Abad, Kintzler, and Ervin get dealt. I don't see any reason for the first three on that list to be around by tonight and see an Ervin deal as less likely, but I think somebody will pull the trigger. Otherwise, like alarp33 said, I'm good with the new GM dealing Ervin (if not dealt) and Dozier in the offseason. I'm not sure what to do about Plouffe at this point. He may just have to ride pine next season.
  3. Nice intro. The baseball card bits always get me. I still have all of mine, but my dad continues to kick himself to this day. He gave all of his away for nothing. Shoe boxes full that included Mickey Mantle's, Hank Aaron's, Willie Mays', etc etc. Whenever he tells the story, I want to kick him too.
  4. Could be, but my understanding has always been that score doesn't matter. The verbiage of the rule doesn't say anything about it either, but I guess I don't know for sure.
  5. Not to mention the fact that even if you take another job and your former team wins a WS, you still had a hand in that. Your efforts aren't erased from history.
  6. No, it sounds like he actually got into a game.
  7. Actually, I agree completely. He could still end up with an administrative role, just one with far less prominence. But I do think the visibility he has can benefit him regardless. It could also hurt him if he shows poorly.
  8. I don't see the manager thing being all that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. If they feel handcuffed by a one year deal, that almost seems more worrisome in my view. Many new GM's keep the current manager on board for a year anyway. The caveat to that statement is that it has to be clear that the new GM has the authority to move on after Molitor's deal is done if they so choose. If that isn't the case, that's being handcuffed. That's a much different story and a much different issue. GM's need to think longer than one year and the new GM will be brought in for multiple years. Is the manager deal ideal? No, of course not. I think it's something that most will look past considering it's only a one season issue.
  9. He pitched the last 4 innings. One can earn a save for pitching 3+ innings, provided nobody pitches after him.
  10. I'd like to point out that just because somebody has to fill the role, that doesn't mean that it isn't an audition. It may be or it may not be, I'm not sure that I care. I agree that logic suggests that they look outside of the organization, which probably makes this nothing other than filling the hole. What I would argue however, is that it really is an audition for Antony - just for his next job with another organization. How he handles this could lead to something else for him later on.
  11. No kidding. All of our blood and sweat for naught. Did you find any prospective Twins at softball last night?
  12. . Sorry sir. Won't happen again, sir!
  13. What is he gaining by sitting on the bench? Does he look less lost there? All I'm saying is that he needs to be playing. If he's going to sit 3 or 4 times a week, send him to AAA to play every day.
  14. No Buxton again?!?!!? Either play him every day or send him down. He should not be sitting on the bench.
  15. That seems akin to me blaming my receding hairline on getting married...
  16. Now I'm intrigued. What are the other 14 reasons?
  17. Belt high Matt Capps fastball is what that comment looked like to me!
  18. Hopefully not for pitchers. they have enough softball pitchers already...
  19. I'll just play it safe and blame my wife. I didn't start losing my hair until we got married. Blaming your wife is the safe play, right?
  20. Or double posting all of your replies?
  21. I know that's the rule, but my mom's dad is 88 and still has a fairly nice head of hair. My dad's side is the side with the receding hairline and bald spot on the top of the head. That is the model I seem to be following. I'm looking more and more like the men on my dad's side everyday.
  22. Where were you last year that you saw a real baseball team play?
  23. I'll take that under advisement when that time comes. I still have enough to play around with yet, but it's vanishing quickly.
