  1. I agree with everything Thrylos said, which doesn't happen often, but he's spot on here. No need to sign Arcia to an extension just yet, especially with his history of injuries. Let's see what he's done at the end of the year and readdress. Same goes for Brian Dozier. Let's not rush into this, otherwise Twins Territory will end up hating these guys the way they hate Mauer just because he got PAID.
  2. Dumb luck. The Twins didn't get the guy they wanted the first time and the Pirates were happy to take Duke back.
  3. I really hope that the Twins find an answer in CF that isn't named Danny Santana. His speed is the only thing that allows him to not be worthless out there. He looks like a guy who has played about 50 innings of CF, that is to say, terrible. I don't know why Gardy wants Hicks to play a corner spot instead of Santana. That doesn't make sense to me. Maybe Danny doesn't profile well as a corner OFer, but that's because he's a SS!
  4. C - Not Pinto 1B - Joe Mauer, but 2014-like is as optomistic as I'd be 2B - Brian Dozier. He's probably a candidate for quick regression, but I think he'll have established himself between now and then. No reason to give this spot to Rosario. 3B - Sano, dontchaknow SS - Polanco, I think 2018 starter is very optomisit for Gordon. OF - Aaron Hicks, Byron Buxton, Arcia. that's right folks, AARON HICKS, he's going to figure it out. DH - Vargas Santana probably sticks around as a utility guy, and maybe Escobar too, but I think Santana is a bench guy. i don't think his bat holds up long term. Escobar maybe holds onto SS for a couple more seasons, but I don't think he's around in 2018. Also, I expect the Twins to be very competetive 2015 (maybe) and 2016 and beyond. They will make moves to bring in talent via FA or trade, so this is all a crap shoot. prospects will break our hearts.
  5. My mother always told me not to say anything if I didn't have anything nice to say. So i came up with something nice. It looks like John is gout free the way he moves, displaying the grace of a man much younger, but no less athletically challenged.
  6. I think Arcia is a must-see player already. If he's due up in the lineup I don't go get another beer, I wait for his AB. I love the passion and energy he displays. A lot of Twins fans want Joe Mauer to be the vocal leader, to be a firey veteran, but I'm not opposed to letting the young guys lead the way with their vigor and excitement.
  7. I've got a fever, and the only perscription is LESS KUBEL, i mean MORE KENDRYS!
  8. It's been a pleasure following you from draft day until today. I had a chance to talk to you at a game in Iowa about growing up in Minnesota, to talk MiLB with you on my podcast, and to read your thoughts here on Twins daily. It's been a pleasure. I wish you much luck in whatever comes next for you. Go Twins!
  9. http://assets.podomatic.net/ts/19/ad/da/paulpleiss/1400x1400-208x208+6+0_9647196.jpeg This week on the podcast we talk about the resurgance of Josh Willingham since his return from the Disabled List (being healthy is pretty important, I guess), we ramble on a bit about Aaron Hicks and the failure of the front office to have any sort of reasonable back up plan (has this rant been beaten to death yet? Yes? Good, we'll keep bringing it up), and we talk about all of the students Down on the Pond pitching for the Rochester Red Wings (Alex Meyer, Trevor May, Logan Darnell, Kris Johnson, Yohan Pino and the still terrible Scott Diamond). We all drank excellent beers, answered a question from the internet, gave a shout out to our listener of the week, and talked all things baseball news going Around the League. 96 minutes of baseball joy. Thanks for playing along! Source
  10. I hope that the Rock Cats bring out the HC hats at least one more time before they say good bye to NB. As a west-coaster who's never been to NB, I can only hope that maybe the Twins decide to head out West with a new PDC, but I don't think that happens. Hopefully wherever the Twins AA affiliate ends up, they're in a good situation for player development because after several years of high draft positions, there are a lot of good young players in the system.
  11. Looking forward to some serious draft talk with the Twins Hangouts gentlemen all night long!
  12. I'm not sure a C+ prospect pulls a league average CF, even if you're just looking for a platoon split. It's going to take more to get a league average guy. maybe you can find replacement leverl for C+, but that's about it.
  13. Maybe they can get him to sing during the 7th inning stretch of game 1 of the WS, with a concert to follow the game.
  14. I just confirmed with the Twins PR people, yes, if the Twins win 85 games, Luda will be performing this winter at Target Field.
  15. I'm always skeptical of the idea that changing position defensively will create a large difference offensively. I understand that you can take poor play from the field and bring it into the batters box, and that a switch from SS to 2B probably helped, but I just don't like the idea that the position change itself is the root cause of the offensive ability output. I think the change in his approach at the plate, the foot thing, that's where the real change comes from. Wherever you want to put the credit, I'm happy with the results.
  16. A couple issues with your plan. If Meyer and May come up and perform, there's not room for Hughes, Nolasco, Deduno and Gibson to all keep pitching in the rotation. And I think it's unreasonable to expect Meyer/May to come up and just keep putting up great numbers. There's a learning curve, and with the number of batters May is walking at AAA, I don't expect his numbers to translate as well as Meyer's. I love the optomism, but I think 75 wins is a good number to hope for. 80 wins would be mind-boggling. 85? That just seems ludacris. I hope you're right and I'm way way way too conservative. That'd be a lot of fun to watch down the stretch.
  17. Please draft Nick Gordon, please draft Nick Gordon, please draft Nick Gordon. -repeats forever until it becomes truth.
  18. Any time you can sit in the sun drinking cold beers and screaming obscenities at Wisconsinites is a good day, regardless of the action on the field.
  19. Everyone makes more sense than Bartlett. Two pennis and a nickle makes more cents than Bartlett. I can't wait utill I get old and can forget about his return to Minnesota
  20. Just Bombs escaped a leadoff walk. Some things in baseball just don't make sense. Jared Burton's continued presence on the 25-man roster, is one of those things (to me).
  21. With my luck he'll make it out of the inning, his ERA will creep back under 6 and Gardy and Rick Anderson will continue to think he's turning it around and can find his 2012 form.
  22. The loathing I feel for Burton cannot be quenched, even with less Ku-bell or BP fastballs from Matty Guerrier
  23. If Jared "Just Bombs" Burton doesn't give up a run this inning I'll consider bringing prayer back into my life because it will be proof that god is real.
