Congratulations to the founders of TD and Brock. You have created something special here. It might be interesting to hear what you expected at the outset and how things are different from what you imagined.

It was an easy gain and I grabbed some of it. I wish that I had grabbed more. As for ethics, you can always give part of your profits to freed starving children.

I am in HP, but expect to be taken out soon due to a call option that I wrote. I like the stock.

I am got into Disney at $109 then sold a July call at $115 for $2.70. I am also overweight oil. My sense is that things may go badly in the Middle East and this could reduce supply. Also, some of these stocks pay good dividends. How do people here feel about oil stocks?

Thanks, Brock. I like the fact that the call market seems bullish -- July calls at $115 were trading for $2.70 per share today. And if the stock does not hit $115 by then but stays around $110 then I can rinse and repeat.

Any thoughts on buying Disney around $109 per share?

I would add one thing to what my fellow moderators have stated. If you vehemently disagree with someone in a thread, you will be on safe ground so long as you make the effort to be polite when you respond. We mods all want to encourage interesting, passionate debate. It's the personal attacks/bickering and disrespect for other posters that lead to most interventions.

I am wondering whether a lot of people are waiting to realize gains in January based on the expectation that tax rates will be lower in 2017.

For me, the best part of TD is the fellowship with other Twins fans. Although people often disagree, sometimes passionately, we all share an important obsession. We are brothers and sisters in a Twins family and our disagreements should always be debated in that context. I wish everyone the best possible Christmas/Hanukkah or whatever you celebrate, and an amazing New Year.

There were a lot of good posts here, people. And some very funny posts. I am disappointed that we came to a point where snepp had to close one of the most popular and entertaining threads in TD history. I believe that as a community we can and must do better than this. We are all Twins fans and that is an important, eternal bond. If we wanted to be insensitive or to bicker then we could become Yankees fans. Let's remember that we are in this together and try to express our fundamental brotherhood by thinking about how the other person might feel. I did not have the privilege to grow up in the Twin Cities and for a decade I had to follow the Twins by radio. I did not meet a fellow Twins fan in person until I was 30 years old. You people make me feel sad when you fail to appreciate the value of your fellow Twins fans. We moderators work hard to create a place where you can disagree and argue like you might with your best friend, NOT like you might argue in some anonymous forum. Please note that this lecture applies only to a handful of you, and they know who they are.
