    On the other hand, the Twins have improved a lot more than the Astros this year. I agree that nights like this foster pessimism, but it's been a long time since I have seen so many strong reasons for hope. In my opinion, if the Twins can get another playoff level starter and another strong reliever or two, then they have a shot. It's been a long time since I have thought that.

    Most of my little league players learned how to do both better than what we just saw. On the other hand, the level of competition was somewhat lower.

    Agreed, but it seemed to me that he would likely have been thrown out even if he had tagged properly. The CF was ready to throw almost as soon as he caught it, and it was not deep.

    I liked his last inning, and his fastball was still at 93 to 95 with some movement. His stat line was not good, but he was put in a tough spot in his first big league game. At least we agree that he can flash good stuff.
