  1. This game is getting too close -- Twins need to get to the Tigers' relievers.
  2. I am wondering if the Twins might break some record today in terms of fewest runs scored compared with total men on base.
  3. Watching the balls and strikes on the internet, it looks like the home plate ump has a very small strike zone today. Is that true?
  4. Six hits and one walk in 3 innings, yet only one run to show for it. The baserunning must be terrible today.
  5. I am recording this game on DVR. It sounds like I will be cursing the screen again tonight.
  6. I saw the replay of Span's miscue on ESPN -- he missed that one badly. Let's hope the Twins can put this behind them and win the series tomorrow.
  7. You make a good point. Maybe there is a reluctance to do make any change that might affect Plouffe's hot streak.
  8. Yes, is he injured or is he just getting a rest?
  9. I think that we all could do better. This is a great site for respectful debate. Disagreement makes it interesting, but personal attacks are distracting And practicing passionate debate while remaining respectful is a skill that will serve us well in the real world as well. If only our politicians could learn this.
  10. I am hoping that's the prelude to a really bad game tonight, if it ever stops raining.
  11. Thanks, Chief. And to you as well.
  12. Even Verlander is capable of having a bad game. Let's hope that happens tonight.
  13. Some of these posts are hilarious. But I do feel bad for Blackburn. He seemed to be doing well in spring training then the wheels came off the hot dog. I think that he has been trying his best and feels terrible that he is letting the team down. I remember when Blackburn was a valuable contributor, and I keep hoping that he will find his groove. That said, I agree with those who feel that he needs to be replaced in the rotation.
  14. I am a Gray fan and agree that he does not get enough credit. I did commend him in an earlier post on this thread. I was also very pleasantly surprised by the good job done by Waldrop and Robertson. Beating the Tigers is almost as satisfying as beating the White Sox, and this was truly a team effort, both on offense and defense.
  15. So maybe we could trade just before the game starts and surprise both of them.
  16. It looks like he is doing better recently -- "hits in seven of his last eight games with three homers, four doubles and 13 RBI" (per CBS Sportsline) But you make a good point about this potentially being a much worse contract than Mauer's. The same might be said about Pujols and the Angels.
  17. Excellent article. I would hate to see Liriano go for anything less than someone who is at least a potential #2 starter. Liriano seems like the Twins' best chance to have an ace next year, assuming that he continues to improve.
  18. I saw the same ABs, and he did a good job fouling off what he could not hit. But it seems to me that he might benefit from a few weeks in Rochester, and Florimon is worth a closer look. I hope that you are correct about Dozier being fine.
  19. No, but that makes it all the sweeter. And who knows what will happen tomorrow with Verlander against Duensing.
  20. I would send Dozier down for a few weeks and bring Florimon up. Dozier seems overwhelmed, Florimon is a defensive wizard, and either Florimon could surprise with the big league club or Dozier could build confidence in Rochester.
  21. Plouffe hitting one out now would make me VERY happy.
  22. Whoops. I was afraid that you were going to cast some moderator spell on me for quoting my own post.
  23. Mauer with power is fun to see -- maybe he is getting jealous of Plouffe and Willingham and has decided to try for more homers?
