  1. I selfishly am hoping he returns for at least one more year. I fell this may be a "don't know what you got, 'til it's gone situation". Don't feel I've fully appreciated Joe Mauer's career until very recently. I was always more of a Morneau, Span, Johan, Thome kind of fan. Joe was just always...there. Steady. Not flashy. Taking walks. Hitting doubles instead of dingers. My gut is telling me this is it. Whenever it happens, I will be sad.
  2. The silver lining of this being the last road trip is that they can't get walked off anymore. What are they up to now, 15 walk off losses? It's the little things.
  3. Always https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdMJrxCldzg
  4. He plays for the Clearwater Thrashers of the Philadelphia Phillies organization. His name is Mickey Moniak. Don't think he's in the plans for the Twins quite yet as he's not in the Twins' organization. Royce Lewis was drafted in 2017.
  5. Much like in the show Parks and Recreation, somebody needs to be the Jerry. Somebody on the roster needs to be Belisle. Poor Hildy drew the short straw.
  6. Saw Dozier's first career home run on 5/13/2012 at Target Field. Mothers Day that year in his 7th career game. My parents were with me, as was my now wife. I've seen many of his games since, several stick out. 2 walkoff home runs in a week in 2015, walkoff grand slam this year, and too many to count last year and 2016. It's gonna be weird without #2 playing 2nd.
  7. Total agreement. Like I said, I don't think they should trade him. Nor do I think they will. But I'm also in the camp (probably alone) to wait and sell anybody until after the non-waiver deadline. There is too many games left with Cleveland in August. I need to stop letting hope creep in.
  8. Think he had a thumb/wrist issue somewhere around that time frame as well.
  9. Sell high I would assume. Not that I'm advocating for it, but it's probably the thought process.
  10. Feels premature. The numbers look good, but do they mean anything? I guess I was resigned to maybe seeing both Buxton and Sano in September, but no sooner. Did not expect to see either of them at all until 2019.
  11. He's entered or is entering Rondell White territory. As with most of the lineup outside of the Ed's, they seem to be sleepwalking through the season. Which is a shame, as the pitching has been much improved.
  12. Man, they could use a 7-0 or 6-1 week. Unfortunately, probably not going to happen. The Twins seem to play up to or down on the level of their opponent. So I'll predict that they'll go 1-2 or worse vs the White Sox, 2-1 or better vs the Brew Crew and Cubs. Keep dangling that carrot. This is how we baseball.
  13. Since the start of the 2nd half of 2017, Gibby has a ERA of 3.50 in 159.2 IP in 27 starts. Walks are a bit too high. But he may be finally "getting it". As others have said in the game thread last night. He has been spectacularly above average. And has been for some time.
  14. I think if they can be within a 2-3 games of .500 by the All Star Break, (45-47 wins). They might have a chance. I've now tempered my expectations for the season. 81 wins would be ok. Anything more is gravy. I think the starting pitching has been good enough for a better than .500 finish. Just have to:
  15. Maybe they need a rainout https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLMxmZr3S5s
  16. I'll echo what others have said, the series against Cleveland is a big one. Need to almost get 3 out of 4. A split would be ok and a sweep is too much to ask for. My glimmer of optimism is that the 2006 team was 25-33 on June 7th, 11.5 GB, and went on to win 96 games. Unfortunately, it seems that the hitting and bullpen were obviously better then. But the starting pitching seems better as a whole. Albeit without a ace. So, probably not going to win 96 games. But it's what I'm clinging to.
  17. What do they have to learn in the minors? It's sink or swim time for both of them. Both have been dominant in the minors with Buxton slashing .302/.379/.504 and Sano .278/.373/.564. They don't need to dominate a lower level again. The only way they get better is by batting against the best possible competition. Neither of them will get that in AAA.
  18. So that's why North Dakota tourism needed to hire Josh Duhamel to promote their state. Can't even compete with WI
