  1. Even with the lack of games played for Mauer as a catcher it's still hard to believe he's only now approaching 2000 hits.
  2. I really like Dozier. He's a leader, good teammate, defender and obviously has power. As well as he seemed to learn to go opposite field better last year. That being said....I don't know that anyone will give more than say 4 years $80 million. Teams are wising up to overpaying for declining years. He'll be 31 in May and therefore he'd be 36 at the end of his deal. He's a great athlete but when his advanced defensive stats are already suggesting he's average defensively then he could be a liability at the end or middle of that deal.
  3. Is Tyler Watson the guy they got in. The Kintzler trade? I was thinking he was in Ft Myers last yr.
  4. Will be interesting to see how the staff fares against another team. I suspect the O's may be a little all or none type of offensive team. Twins rotation should be much better this year no doubt. With this offense and improved bullpen it should be a fun summer. Once Morrison gets going it could get scary for the opposition!
  5. Yes Mike I saw Chargois last night also...
  6. I thought negotiations we're done a month ago or more? I think waiting will be better for the Twins. He'll have more motivation than ever this year. Contract year and playing on most likely his best team in the majors. I see him (And Mauer) having a monster year this year. Should be a fun summer.
  7. Burdi may never throw a MLB pitch. But he could be on the 60 day DL right now. And Chargois has to have more upside than Kinley. Or be on an even playing field at a minimum. Probably the same for Barb. So still makes no sense. Hopefully Falvine has a time machine and already knows how this plays out.
  8. Is Nick Gordon the next middle infielder up if something happens to Escobar or Adrianza? Seems they don't have nearly the middle infield depth without Polanco. (On the 40 man)
  9. Will be interesting to see how this all plays put. Especially with Sano not receiving a suspension. Wonder if the Twins will try to sneak him thru waivers again.
  10. I really think the Twins need to cut ties with Grossman. I like him but a patient approach at the plate doesn't make up for his lack of power and defensive flexibility.
  11. I've been a Twins fan my whole life. Therefore a fan of the AL and DH. I can't seem to understand why you wouldn't want someone like Jim Thome or David Ortiz DHing instead of a pitcher. I realize some pitchers can hit a bit but they're not hitters.
  12. I think the Twins will give the Indians a run for their money this year. I don't know why but Polanco's suspension ruined my optimism a tad also. They have capable replacements so they should be fine but still.
  13. I commented in another article about how Morneau had said during his introductory press conference that he was looking forward to working with Kepler after watching him on TV last season. I wonder if it is something along the lines of facing Left handers. Also if Rooker has a good season he could split time with Kepler and DH/1b next season.
  14. I'll predict the Twins win the division with 92 wins over the Indians 90. Sano, Morrison, Dozier and Rosario all hit 30+ homers. Mauer and Buxton with gold gloves. Dozier and Buxton finish top 6 or 7 in MVP votes. Mauer has his best season since 2009 getting a new 1 yr deal for 2019.
  15. I'm also excited for Rooker. Hopefully he can continue to work in the corner outfield spots as well as first. Since he'll probably end up sharing time with Sano eventually. I was reminded when reading this of Morneau's introductory press conference. He mentioned how he was looking forward to working with Kepler as he'd noticed things in his swing/approach last year while watching the Twins games. I wonder if it was how he could help him when facing left handed pitchers. I guess we shall see! Could be Kepler's year!
  16. May explain why he stuggled defensively if he knew about this for a month. His head wasn't in the game.
  17. Can't you buy iron and B-12 supplements at Walmart?? Gotta be smarter than that. Does someone need to be removed from the 40 man or does his suspension open a spot?
  18. Hello Seth! I'm curious on how easy it is to watch these games when you're (anyone) in Ft Myers? Is it easy for someone without a press pass to watch these games? Also when is the best time to go to Twins spring training to get the most out of it? Would early get you more access to the big Leaguers? Or would this time be but when the big Leaguers play longer in games and the minor leaguers are also starting out? I'm curious because if like to go next year and would like to get the most out of my trip. Thank you!
  19. When I see/watch Berrios outside of baseball, I see a confident animal, but when he faced adversity on the mound her seems to lose confidence. Once he can beat that I believe that's when he'll finally reach his full potential and consistency.
  20. Vargas, Kepler and Hughes to TB for Archer. While eating a bunch of Hughes salary.
  21. The thing I wonder about Sano is if he really understands what he could do in a little better shape? What the league thinks of him as a player? The kind of money he could be missing out on by only playing 2/3 of a season every year. It's a shame to see. If the report/s I had seen about the Twins offering him straight up for Chris Archer are true and the Ray's turning it down as they don't like his lack of position flexibility long term it should be some kind of wake-up call to him. Hopefully he can turn his health around and play more games and increase his production starting this year while playing solid 3rd base and prove us wrong.
  22. I still can't understand why they let Chargios, Bard, and Burdi (who could be on the 60 day DL off the 40 man) go for nothing to keep Kinley. At 27 he hasn't had enough success to justify letting guys go that have....when healthy. I wouldn't bet money on Bard coming back to haunt us or Burdi ever being healthy enough to. But I can definitely see Chargios haunting us. I haven't seen Kinley pitch at all....only box scores but I just can't see what they saw in him over these other 3.
  23. Always hard to look at the start of the year and wonder how everyone is going to get a chance in the majors. But whether it be injury or someone doesn't pitch well enough to hold it down it always works out where you need a load of arms to cover the 162 games. Will certainly be nice to have actually quality depth this season.
  24. He'll need to repeat 2017 or even better 2009. Plus need Sano to stay at 3rd, Morrison to be gone, Rooker to be in the Minors, take a hometown discount/play for his production value, and be open to being a part time player. That being said I think Joe would be open to this if they wanted him back as he's played through all the up and the long down and is just now seeing them come back up. While having a front office seemingly more capable of filling the gaps with better pieces to be competitive than the previous.
