  1. Just say NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to Burton.
  2. I will not eat liver, ever, in any situation, no matter how it's prepared or served. Yes, that includes pâté.
  3. Yeah, good way to get your food and drink spit into/onto ... or worse.
  4. She'll just say, 'Hmm, you're anemic again. Are you eating enough dark green vegetables and raw liver?'
  5. I missed the first 4 innings because I took an unexpected nap, tune in to the top of the 5th, see that, then get a phone call just as the Twins scored their first run in the bottom of the inning, then missed the rest.
  6. And yes, I'm talking about the game, not the game thread.
  7. Geez, tune in at the right time then get a phone call and miss everything.
  8. It should ... according to my forecast.
  9. I saw that one! Honestly, being a string player, that really takes some skill to pull off!
  10. Game-time forecast: Mostly cloudy. Winds blowing in from left field at 10-20 m.p.h. Temperature around 50. 0% PoP. Tigers: SP, Sanchez Kinsler 2B Hunter RF Cabrera 1B Martinez DH Jackson CF Castellanos 3B Romine SS Holaday C Davis LF Twins: SP, Hughes Dozier 2B Mauer DH Plouffe 3B Colabello 1B Kubel LF Pinto C Fuld RF Hicks CF Escobar SS ---------------------------- And now for the entertainment portion of our regularly scheduled program, just after these messages ... (okay, there are no messages, but check back later for Brian's musings). -------------------------------------------------------- (Camel Walking around) What day is it? What Day is it? ChiTown: Umm... It's Saturday (Camel Leaves) Things to think about: 1. Sam Fuld -- Gardy seems to like his new toy... Why Not? Fuld is stroking the ball. I'd keep playing with it. 2. Offense -- Offense Stomp Stomp... Offense Stomp Stomp... Ok forget about pitching and defense... It's a whole new world... Let's just try and out slug them with Plouffe, Colabello, Kubel, Pinto, Suzuki and Fuld. 3. Pitching -- BUT WE CAN'T FORGET ABOUT PITCHING... We got to start get better starting pitching. We are hitting well enough to be 25 and 3 right now. 4. That Inning Again -- With props to Stringer for his eloquent phrasing ... Phil Hughes has been good more often than he has been bad. Each game has seen one bad inning and one bad inning alone. Let's hope we don't see "THAT INNING" today. 5. A question... Why is that people who know the least... know it the loudest?
  11. I assume you are referring to Don't Stop Believing and not Lights.
  12. Don't Stop Believing ... was the defacto 'theme song' of the 2005 White Sox. In fact, Journey came and sang at their victory parade/rally. And during the 7th inning stretch ... I think it's the 7th inning, maybe they do it another inning ... the crowd at AT&T Park sings 'Lights.'
  13. Great, now I'm going to be humming that the rest of the day. Could be worse ... could be humming Icona Pop's I Love It ... D'OH!!!!
  14. Game-time forecast: Clear. Winds blowing out to right field at 5-15 m.p.h. Temperature around 55. (Yes, back to the real weather game-time local forecasts. Yesterday's was from Aqaba, Jordan, if anyone cares.) Tigers: SP, Porcello Kinsler 2B Hunter RF Cabrera 1B Martinez DH Jackson CF Castellanos 3B Avila C Romine SS Davis LF Twins: SP, Correia Dozier 2B Mauer 1B Plouffe 3B Colabello RF Kubel LF Pinto DH Suzuki C Fuld CF Florimon SS -------------------------- Brian's deep in it at the moment. In thought. That's the 'it' I meant. More from him later. Until then ... Go Twins! ------------------------------------------------------- Oh I'm in more than "it"... As for yesterday's forecast from Jordan... I care. Things to think about: 1. The Detroit Tigers -- Our first look at the Tigers... They are not the same Tigers as last year in my opinion. No Fielder... No Fister... A supposedly talented rookie at 3B and a new speedy OF in Davis along with Ian Kinsler and Joe Nathan coming in to fill important rolls. Dombroski is trying to adjust his team after coming close the past two years. Will this be the year? 2. Miqgy -- Mr. Cabrera is perhaps the finest hitter in baseball. However... A lot of baseball experts will tell you that it's important to protect your big hitters by having a big hitter behind him. With Fielder in Texas... It remains to be seen if Martinez is scary enough behind him. Scary enough to force opposing pitchers to worry about walking him. Scary enough to give Cabrera something to swing at instead of keeping everything away from him. It depends on if you believe it that matters at all. I'm not sure I do... Hitters are gonna hit because Pitchers are gonna pitch. 3. Fuld/Hicks -- Sam Fuld has hit the ground running and is swinging a hot bat right now. So Fuld is in the lineup and Hicks is on the bench. I know this will concern those who feel that Hicks is part of our future and also feel that Fuld is not. I just think that April is too early to throw in the towel and you gotta try to win games right now. If Fuld is getting it done... Put him in the lineup and let him get it done. 4. One game behind the Tigers -- That's right... The Twins are one game behind the AL Central leading Tigers and they go head to head this weekend. I'm gonna sit down and watch the game and pretend it's September!!! 5. Don't Stop Believin' -- "Just a City Boy... Born and raised in South Detroit" There is no such place as "South Detroit" nor has there ever been. South of the city of Detroit is the Detroit River and South of that is Windsor Ontario. Journey is from San Francisco bay area... They should have put the Boy in Palo Alto and why are they taking midnight trains? An afternoon train would be just fine for going anywhere. In the song... The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald... Gordon Lightfoot calls it "De-Troy-It". He must have needed an extra syllable. I've been to De-Troy-It once... I wanted to De-Stroy-It. It's a miserable place!!!
  15. Looking forward to a Blackhawks-Wild 2nd round! Go Hawks!
  16. Hey ... you're the pixel monkey mvp ... couldn't you do something about that?
  17. Yup, it is. And I figure this can't be sustained. So I'm going to not look the gift horse in the mouth and enjoy the moments while I can. Yay Twins!
  18. Is that really them singing? They aren't lip syncing?
  19. I just can't watch this. I just can't.
  20. omg, get him out of there!
  21. Omg, finally get to sit down and watch a bit ... Yay, yay, yay!
  22. And concern has been expressed on BOTH sides, but debates ensue as to 'how much' and that gets ridiculous. This kind of nitpicking gets things way off track very quickly and turns personal. So, for now, humour this moderator and leave the nitpicking aside, stick to your arguments, stick to the topic, and leave the personal stuff behind. And that goes for everyone, posters, moderators and admins.
  23. Correction: it's currently 93 degrees F, with scattered clouds, winds at 7 mph from the SSE, and still 0% PoP. Where in the world .... ???
  24. I know. I really expected no offense, but thought we'd be ... okay ... in pitching. Glad the offense has been able to compensate for the pitching thus far but it would be nice if the pitching finally came around to at least mediocre.
