  1. I hope you were referring to Van because dude, I wear yoga pants.
  2. Um, you aren't comparing me to a warden for suggesting we be respectful, are you?
  3. Um, they're just wearing regular clothes, not yoga pants so that's hardly an equivalent. And meh.
  4. Yes, they do. But they also wear them out and about, too.
  5. Lol ... well, there's a big difference between 18 and 35. If you were my age I'd have said much much.
  6. I'm all about casual. Jeans and t-shirts sounds good to me. Yeah, glad you stopped where you did. I have a niece just out of college, one in college, and one to start in a year. Hearing a random much older male stranger on the internet possibly referring to one of them in such a manner could be creepy and brings out protective auntie which, believe me, you don't want to mess with. I guess it's okay to admire, but draw the line at specifics. But then I led you down that path rather intentionally. Those young women are someone's daughter, granddaughter, niece, sister, mom.
  7. I'm not sure I understand the fascination in yoga pants? They are exercise clothes; like wearing sweats.
  8. If they stopped singing God Bless America I could convincingly disagree with you. As it stands, I can only unconvincingly disagree with you.
  9. Yoga pants are so comfy. Do you lounge around in yours, too?
  10. Yep. Well, except for the ones who vandalize petrol stations and don't acknowledge their wrong doing.
  11. I don't think it's uncool to have national pride. But I do think it's uncool to overdo it; and for me, the way the Olympics are presented here in the States, it pushes that envelope way too far. As I said, when I lived in Canada, I saw a much different presentation and it was much better and made me want to watch and not only cheer on my 'own,' but to just cheer on the best of all athletes no matter what country. It just seems that the Olympics have became first and foremost about national pride, and the athletes and competition seem secondary.
  12. Maybe it wasn't a CBC reporter, but after winning a tough match, the male interviewer asked her to 'give us a twirl, let's get a look at your outfit.' Then coaxed her, 'Come on, a little pirouette.' She did it and moved on, but the fact the No. 7 ranked player was asked to do something like that, ugh.
  13. I'd forgotten that the 'twirl' incident came from a CBC reporter.
  14. Lol ... right on ... http://www.vox.com/2016/8/19/12551190/sexist-sport-coverage-olympics
  15. No one seems to be signed up today to do the game thread. So ... first come, first serve ... just go out to the main forum and click on the small, black box that says 'Start New Topic' and have at it! Otherwise you might get stuck with me again. Or nothing, which would be equally bad.
  16. Yeah, I like the conspiracy theories, too. They tend to be a lot more exciting than plain ol' logic.
  17. Another emergency start up ... if you don't like my game threads, please sign up and do one. I'm sure whatever any of you come up with will be way, way better than me. Here's proof positive: Let’s see … what shall we discuss in the game thread tonight … hmmm … 1. Metrics, stats and all those fun numbers and how to evaluate/predict players and teams … NOOOOOO!!!!! Let’s not go there tonight as game threads, even in our disagreements, should be amicable and fun. 2. Okay, so, how about Mauer, HOF or not? OMG …. NOOOOOOOOOO!!! Mike now hates me for mentioning this. 3. Well, then, there’s always the FO … ACK! ACK! ACK! ACK!!!!!!!! Too hot to handle! 4. I know … my favorite topic … eating crow. Yup. We’ve had some crow eaters in these here parts. Yes, indeed. What makes a crow eater? Whining in the 2nd inning of a game about how the pitcher is shaky and how not only is the offense not doing their job, they don’t seem to know how to do their job. Yup, that’s the way it went down on Wednesday night after two innings when the Twins were up 2-0. Kyle Gibson went on to complete the full game and the Twins won 10-3 with Plouffe going 3 for 5 and pulling in 3 rbi. Okay, yes I’m rubbing it in a bit thick and will now give credit where credit is due. Those who ended up eating crow were the first to say they should. Yup. Knowing and admitting when you've overstepped it is good stuff. And it makes for good game thread fodder. 5. I'll be missing the game tonight. Dinner and whatnot with friends. And I'm on vacation for three weeks! Woohoo! Other than a quick trip and back to Florida, and taking in a Miracle game while there, I'm staycationing. For those that know me, I travel enough during the year, so staying home once in a while is nice, too. ____________________ Lineups: TWINS Brian Dozier® 2B Jorge Polanco(S) SS Joe Mauer(L) 1B Trevor Plouffe® 3B Max Kepler(L) RF Miguel Sano® DH Eddie Rosario(L) CF Juan Centeno(L) C Danny Santana(S) LF Jose Berrios [R] P ROYALS Jarrod Dyson(L) CF Cheslor Cuthbert® 3B Lorenzo Cain® RF Eric Hosmer(L) 1B Kendrys Morales(S) DH Salvador Perez® C Alex Gordon(L) LF Alcides Escobar® SS Raul Mondesi(S) 2B Edinson Volquez [R] P Forecast: HOT and MUGGY with some clouds. 18. Yup, sure, Ggolf, just like that.
  19. yeah, you obviously don't get it either.
  20. Then you aren't playing doubles right. It's a very quick game, and yes, you need to cover quite a lot. Lob retrievals anyone? In doubles you are moving constantly. If you aren't, you aren't playing doubles right. You are just attempting to play tennis with two people on a side.
  21. Whoa ... he didn't just walk away. This is equivalent to workman's comp. He suffered a career-ending, work-related injury. This wasn't due to him being negligent or related to any off-field activity. You stated that as if Fielder just willfully said 'Well, I've just decided I'm just not going to play anymore for no reason, so pay me anyway' which is NOT the case. If I suffered a work-related injury, my employers would be still obligated to pay me. Short term I'd go on sick leave; long term I'd go on disability.
  22. Ish? An angel dies when I say ish?
  23. Are you kidding me? No way. I'm riding this one to the end of the season!
  24. Ish. I really don't like bacon.
