  1. Mauer and Dozier are not the difference makers between winning and losing on this team. I think we can win with them.. I think both are adequate but not outstanding so I think the answer to the question lies more on who else is on the team.. But of course they would need to step it up, but so does everyone else around them, especially the pitchers.
  2. Speculation is one thing, and yes, that is what message boards are for. But the following quoted comment was not speculation; it was flat out saying Mauer wasn't in the line up because Mauer didn't want to play. That goes beyond speculation to me and every poster who responded to it. And you doubled-down by saying the following: "Is Mauer not capable of telling Mollie that he's available despite the tough lefty?" And another poster suggested Mauer needed to 'Man up.' Again ... these comments go beyond speculation to accusation in how they were stated and perceived. Why not just say, then, "I wonder, when these lineups are made, how much the players react to them, and actively try to have Molitor go a different direction? I mean, it would've been nice if Mauer could be stronger and assert himself with Molitor because we could have use him.' And who knows what was said or not by whom, as we don't know. No ... it's all directed at Mauer, and Mauer specifically, and never another. Seriously. It's Mauer baiting and nothing more. And I'm not even a big Mauer fan, not at all, but this one-sided kind of scapegoating gets old.
  3. And the steadfast need to blame him for everything is equally as nauseating, particularly in a thread that isn't about him but about the game last night. He does NOT share the blame with Molitor on this. Sorry, but lineup construction isn't Joe's responsibility and I'm tired about everything being Joe's fault when you or I have NO IDEA how it went down. If you knew first-hand Joe did nothing to try and be in the lineup, fine ... but you don't, and neither do I. So castigating blame is really people going out of their way to find a scapegoat.
  4. What must Gibby be thinking when this isn't the first time he's been given such a lineup. Yeah, I know, we all think he won't and shouldn't be around next year ... but I'd think you'd at least give your weakest pitcher some support.
  5. How do you know he didn't? Just because he's not playing? This lineup is Molitor's responsibility and Molitor's only. It's not even Joe's responsibility, leadership or otherwise to question it. And whether or not he did, you don't know. So stop with the Mauer baiting. Seriously.
  6. Being his sister, I can attest to that. Oh, boy ... can I ever.
  7. Yeah, that was my question. If he said Lincoln Park Zoo, I could help him out.
  8. Yup. Exactly. Seriously. No. I'll take Mike's heat in the northwest over this in ChiTown any day.
  9. Just make sure you buy VIP passes. If it rains, and it's likely, the grounds become all mud. And with the drunken crowds, it's not just mud. Wear you hip waders. Seriously.
  10. College doesn't teach you everything.
  11. I'll take that trade ... I don't mind the temps ... then you can come here and deal with the LaLa crowds. Ugh.
  12. If you ever own a house with a yard, you can mow awesome designs in your yard. I have a brother who likes to be very geometric about mowing his lawn.
  13. And let me clarify further ... I'm not trying to be 'snobby' about being college educated ... it's not for everyone and it isn't the end all to be all ... everyone has to decide that for themselves. But I do believe, more often than not, it can, and does (not always), provide one with greater opportunity, ultimately. Even if one never graduates and even if one does something completely different than the degree pursued and/or earned.
  14. The mistake made is going to college in order to come out of it with a specific career or job or expectation of wealth. Go to college to learn as much as you can about whatever, to further educate yourself for that purpose, and then focus on what to do next. (Of course, this isn't always possible today with the costs it entails. But you can still take classes here and there for the sake of it. Something I also did.) That is, unless you really want to do something specific like becoming a lawyer, doctor or engineer. Then college is most definitely the route to that. While I wasn't one who really liked school, in fact, I didn't at all ... despite the grades and the intellect ... I had a lot of difficulties with the aspect of 'structured learning' and how I 'liked' a teacher or professor really had an affect on how much I liked the class or subject, and how well I applied myself in it, and ultimate how well I did in it. However, without college, I wouldn't be where I am today ... no way, no chance. And while I didn't go to school to do specifically what I do, I came around to that years later, when I figured out a few things, and again, without what I learned in college and the degree I pursued, I'd not be here, in ultimately, my dream job. But even if you go a different route ... into a trade, or self-employed something ... education is never a bad thing, however you do it, whenever you do it.
  15. Yes. His editor had a difficult time leaving that grammatically ambiguous but knew it was what he was going for.
  16. Well then, about signing up to construct a game thread intro? We have openings tomorrow and Sunday ...
  17. I liked mowing and tending to the flowers. But snowing? No way, man, no way.
  18. I wasn't being rebellious. It wasn't about rebelling. Despite what my parents wanted me to be, it was still my choice. And I made it.
  19. First time at training camp ... well then, the first time to ST can't be far behind. And I thought you had a successful road trip with the drunk cousins a few years ago? No?
  20. I think I would've enjoyed being an electrician, and I know I would have liked being a carpenter, but my parents wanted me to become an engineer. So of course I became a musician. It was my passion and what I wanted to be.
  21. You can still go to college and become one of those.
  22. Auto correct does the work I can't. And not falling down, no. More overly tipsy and now sleepy
  23. Reading the game thread drunk is a good thing. I'm going to bed now. Night.
