    Exactly. As I've said I can't believe he wasn't involved in some conversation at some point. I don't think anyone is blaming Molitor solely for Polanco, because ultimately, it wasn't his decision. But I can't believe he wasn't in the loop somewhere, especially considering his previous role in the organization prior to being with the ML team. As a manager, I'm sure he has some sense of who's coming down the pipeline and would have some kind of opinion on that, especially, as I said, given his previous role in the organization and given that Polanco had had some time with the team prior to his final trip up in 2016.

    Maybe I wasn't clear ... and if you saw what I responding to ... I think Molitor was part of the decision, and part of the problem. As I said, I find it hard to believe that he wasn't asked for input and didn't insist on anything different than what was done.

    Unless Molitor had a say in it and either agreed with the decision or didn't insist Polanco also share time at short in AAA. I find it hard to believe that Molitor wasn't at least asked or didn't share an opinion given his past work with minor leaguers, and given he was the ML manager needing a team. Polanco was either going to start at 2nd, if Dozier was traded, start at short, if no better options were acquired, be a utility infielder, if Dozier wasn't traded and a better option at short was acquired, or be traded. One of those scenarios was going to happen so he needed to be splitting time at 2nd and SS in triple A with a couple of games at 3rd thrown in. If this was Ryan's mistake alone, well then, he's gone. Frustrating, but done and gone. Seems to me they only planned for one scenario and one only. If others still there, Molitor included, were a part of that kind of decision making and planning, then I hope Falvey is giving them some long, hard looks as to their future here. My opinion is that Polanco isn't a starting SS. He might be for us, but that's not really where he should be. I'm hoping he's better this year with better preparation. And I hope the chips start falling better moving forward.

    Okay ... so ... the other day I thought something was off with the site because the photo that showed up on the homepage of the original look of the site. This morning it was ... both a feeling of all is right and wrong (in a good way) seeing that BYTO logo pop up on my screen. As for a badge or an asterisk by our names ... I want a badge of honor, courage and bravery for living to tell about it later.

    This is a big part of why I'm not a huge fan the WBC, especially at this time of the season.

    When that Day 1 photo popped up on my iPad this morning, I thought something was wrong with the site and was about to PM Brock ... lol ... until I scrolled and realized that 'Oh, it's a photo for the article.' So yes ... you've come a long way ... and appreciation just isn't a strong enough word for this place and all of you!

    Just like ... yeah ... but not the OFFICIAL official first practice. As I said ... it doesn't really matter because players have been there working out and doing whatever already. I like this time of year best ...

    Last two weeks of March. I actually prefer being there earlier, but that's just how my schedule worked out. And what time I have to be at the fields other than for games is still up in the air due to parental care needs ... and how many tennis games I can schedule.

    And is the official first practice pushed back to the 15th then? It was report by the 13th, first official practice on the 14th so if one was pushed back I assume the other was, too. Although considering the numbers already there, not sure it matters other than the required officialness of it.

    Lol, my sister, Karyn, thought she recognized you from the pub crawl and went up to a total stranger and asked, 'Are you Dinger?'

    Chief wasn't there, but my sister, Karyn was and thought the event was pretty awesome. She said she was a bit distracted by LaTroy Hawkins sitting at her table that she sort of missed what Jack Goin said. She took that photo of LaTroy reminiscing with longtime fans.

    And we don't know for sure if that's actually what we did. Your basis of argument is as much speculation as anyone else's. You don't even know how hard they negotiated but are certain that they couldn't have tried hard enough because the result isn't to your liking. It's not to my liking either, but yet, there it is. I'd certainly be far more willing to accept your premise and speculation if it were the old regime because there is history to support that, but that's not who was involved.

    If there wasn't anyone else of significance offered, then in my mind yes, it basically was a 1:1 offer. If there was no one else with real potential offered, then I'd rather buy an actual lottery ticket. And that's what I think happened. There was no one else worth having, that had the potential to make us better. Then all we are really talking about is Dozier for DeLeon. And I think that was the Dodgers' plan ... to see how much they could get for DeLeon to fill 2nd base with someone better, and how much that was was Forsythe. I also think that was what they thought, too, and all of this talk with the Twins was to see if they could possibly squeeze out more, and they couldn't. So they made the deal they knew they could. It's the only thing that truly makes any logical sense. And NO GM was going to make a better trade.They've improved their position without giving up more than they wanted to. Time will tell if they improved enough.

    What kind of a prospect is 'not significantly' more, though? I've stated all along I'd have taken DeLeon and Alvarez. I'd have tried to negotiate for more, but I would have taken that. I would have taken DeLeon and Stewart, too. But I consider both those 2nds as significantly more. Maybe we are confused over semantics, but if what else was offered, and I do believe there was more offered, wasn't anything that would benefit us, it's a no go for me. It basically means that it was DeLeon (useful) and two not significantly more pieces (not useful). That's my reasoning. I think you think that it didn't matter much to you what else came with DeLeon that DeLeon is really all that mattered to you. Again, I may be misconstruing what you are trying to say, but I believe that what you would have accepted was too weak an offer and I'm okay with a pass on it. Not completely happy, not not disappointed, but okay. I'm part of the 'side' that thinks an asset needs to bring back more. We couldn't get it done for whatever reason. I think that the Dodgers thought that Forsythe was an okay-enough upgrade and was satisfactory to them, that that kind of a piece was the goal ... and if they could get more than that without giving up much more than what they did, they were going to try. But they were going to hold firm to nothing more significant than DeLeon because they had Forsythe in the wings. Given that, I'm okay they passed ... but disappointed a deal couldn't be struck.

    Moderator note: If you want to discuss your opinions of the FO failing in this, do so. But name-calling ... no matter how 'clever' ... is a no go, especially if it's a one-off post.

    I'd say no, too, but that's part of negotiation. What did the Dodgers come back with then? JDL and what? Who? From what we're hearing that if it was something it wasn't anything of real consequence. So, the Twins say no. If the Dodgers aren't going to offer up much beyond the one (and I didn't say only that one), you walk. Not because you think you'll get more later, but because it's not a good deal, and if you took it you'd be making a deal just to make a deal. One unproven player doesn't make us better enough this coming year or the next.
