  1. I'm pretty sure it was the plan, but we had injuries pretty fast to the starting rotation which put Winder in, who I think would have been the natural piggy-back for Archer at the beginning ... but between injuries to our starters and our relievers, it just wasn't possible
  2. No, it isn't. Honestly. Sometimes there isn't a medical solution to body parts that won't cooperate. His surgeon isn't part of the Twins org, and even his surgeon doesn't really know what to do. I'm not sure why, in this instance, there has to be blame on anyone. Whatever the problems, I hope the various entities ... AK, his surgeon, the Twins medical people ... can help find a solution. But sometimes injuries just suck and shorten careers ... to no fault of anyone. Why do you insist on blaming someone here? It just plain sucks.
  3. Yeah, at face value, one has to wonder. Although, I'm not sure there is a strong track record yet for pitchers recovering from thoracic outlet syndrome. He's had to learn to pitch differently, and I'm, honestly, amazed he's still here and doing okay for a #5 starter. Yeah, wish it would be different, and wish he were piggy-backed with someone (as I think was the initial plan, but injuries to pitchers kind of depleted that plan).
  4. His doctors outside the Twins doesn't have an answer, either ... I don't think this one is on the Twins.
  5. Chicago did acquire a RP. But yeah. I said this in another thread, but local reports on the Sox inactivity had the GM stating that they just didn't line up with anyone and that he is as disappointed as the fans. It sounded as if he wasn't willing to deal away their top most prospects, but then didn't have much to offer behind that.
  6. I concur. Even with gold caretaker status, I’m still seeing lots of ads, until/unless I refresh the screen I am on, then they go away and ‘back to normal’
  7. @Sherry Cerny, nice write up. Question - and maybe this was mentioned in a previous thread discussing the possibilities of a trade for Mahle, but do you know, or heard about the FO having any conversations with Gray, or did Gray have any comments for the FO prior to the trade? Just curious. Read something about Correa saying something to Rocco about López prior to that trade, wonder if Gray gave any thoughts on Mahle.
  8. Two relief pitchers, a starter, catching depth ... not bad, not bad :)

  9. It certainly isn’t a good thing, either. I’m not saying we should have thrown everything in for Montas or Castillo, but some relief help is most definitely needed if we want to be competitive into the final stretch
  10. I never really know what to think. While it is certainly ‘convenient’, I don’t think teams really do this. If they did, I would think there would be repercussions and the MLBPA would get involved, but I don’t really know. So, better to take it at face value, I guess
  11. Squirrel

    75 RBI or 75 RBIs?

It’s RBI and MPH. Context tells us when the plural should be applied. Sheep, sheep. It’s never sheeps.
  12. Until they no longer lead the division, as weak as it is. Some think it’s a matter of time, and I can’t deny their reasoning on that, any more than I can deny the weaknesses of the team’s pitching. And it could be stated almost every game. But, despite that, the Twins are still leading the division. Even when they win, threads are filled with comments complaining, finding ways, sometimes creatively, to rip apart anything good, as if it’s a mirage we should all ignore. Some are genuinely constructive criticism, and those comments I appreciate. But most are just complaints to complain. That is a willing and purposeful choice, imo, and deserves some calling out as trolling.
  13. Actually, you can tap the hamburger menu from anywhere on the site. Or, if you click ‘Forums’, you will see all the links to those resources above the forum list
  14. This has been pretty well documented his reasons for taking the job ... close to home, less travel, more money, and it started NOW, he couldn't wait until the end of season because of how college sports/baseball works and what their schedule is ... let's not invent things because of your dislike for the Twins right now
  15. Is this a surprise? Or, will be if/when he signs? I didn't even expect this to be a discussion at this point; never figured he'd even consider signing
  16. Seriously??? I don't understand why people say such things ... why do you think this? CC is one of the best SS in the league and certainly the best SS we've had since ... I don't know when. But I will agree we aren't going to get a windfall return for him if traded, but not because he isn't worth the contract.
  17. Indeed ... but ... while giving up 3 runs, they didn't give up the lead ... this time ... and we still won by 4 ... ahhhh ... perspective
  18. I misused a comma there, so, that added to the confusion
  19. Well, but he doesn't have a full no trade clause now, so that's what I'm going on; I'm not talking about trading him in the offseason but before the deadline ... isn't that what most are on about? And, that actually brings up another issue ... wonder who is on his list with his limited trade clause. That could also be in play if the Twins actually were thinking of trading him before deadline (which I don't think they will, because I think it would be a huge mistake to do so, no matter what our contention status is). If he opts in at the end of the season, I'm ecstatic. If he opts out ... WAAAAAAAA ... but it's what I expect, and am happy we had him for a the year we did
  20. Who was upset by that? Was anyone? Maybe one or two persons, but certainly not people. I think most people were worried about anyone taking time away from Arraez and finding space for Arraez in the lineup.
  21. Honestly, once the inning was over, and I double-checked the score, I said to myself, 'Wait, they only scored 3 runs? Okay, phew.' It felt close, yes, but I don't think it really was that close ... once it was over. However, as I said in my post, with our PB, you just never know.
