  1. The spots in the lineup the Twins need more production from are CF, SS, C and DH. If you remove the first 15 games of the season for Buxton where he had 4 hits in 49 at bats he's has a .250 BA, .328 OBP, .356 SLG and a .683 OPS. If he can increase his overall numbers to get his OPS to .750 I think everyone would be happy with that production based on the elite defense he provides. SS has been a real disappointment this year. Polanco looked great the first month or two but has drastically fallen down. If Gordon is still in the organization next season he might be able to come up mid way through the season. As a few other's pointed out above Garver could have a big impact on this lineup as he's an ideal platoon with Castro. I'm hoping Gimenez is moved in the next week to two weeks and Garver is given plenty of playing time for the last six weeks of the season. DH is the one position I'd like to see the Twins spend money on in the offseason. Get someone who has a high OBP and is going to hit 25 + homeruns. A bench next season of Granite, Garver, Escobar and another FA could be a strong bench.
  2. Some potentially good news to start off August with.
  3. With the new FO in place this season was all about building out the FO i.e. analytics department, evaluations and clearing out players from the 40 man that won't be helpful moving forward. It does sound like the FO has increased the number of employees in the analytics department but they haven't made any changes that I'm aware of. Mainly because from reports they wanted to give everyone a clean slate to evaluate them. Now that we're past the trade deadline we've seen the FO make moves and be decisive on which players they want to keep and have gotten rid of players they don't want on the 40 man moving forward. We'll see what other moves they make, but I'd assume at least 3 other players will be gone by the end of the season. Most likely Colon, Gimenez and Belisle. To me the real moves will start to happen once the season is over. They will have had a full season to evaluate the entire organization from top to bottom and I'd put money on changes happening in the FO and along the coaching staffs as well. The Twins now have a very deep farm system, even though it doesn't have a ton of top end talent it is very deep with quality players. I'd also put money on some trades happening this offseason with the amount of starting pitching the Twins will have at AA and AAA. Individually they might not fetch a ton but I could see them being included as part of a package to get a better pitcher. As other people have said there was no reason to get rid of Santana, Dozier and Castro if the price wasn't right and since they can help the team next season. Let the season play out, hopefully a few more prospects are promoted to AAA and to the Twins, and let's see what happens this offseason. If the Twins sign or trade for a #1/#2 in the offseason and go into next season with the new pitcher, Santana, Berries, Mejia and someone else that is a very good rotation to begin the year especially with all of the options they should have at the AAA.
  4. Watson is only 20 years old, so he's 2 years younger than the league.
  5. What about one of Tyler Watson, Rafael Bautista or Kelvin Gutierrez plus another lower level prospect? Is that too much or too little?
  6. If that is the case who should the Twins be targeting from the Nationals? A couple of prospects in the 15 to 25 range?
  7. I'd think Stewart remains in AA to start next season and I also think we could see one of these pitchers added to a trade this offseason. They aren't all going to make it to the ML and with Berrios and Mejia taking up two spots already it will be difficult to find room. Package one with Dozier or another player to either get a ML player other players at a lower level.
  8. Just posted this in another thread but could the Twins have a new trade partner? Any specific prospects from Arizona that people like?
  9. Could the Twins have a new trade partner for Dozier? Any specific prospects from Arizona that people are excited about?
  10. The Twins have to get either Adams or Sheffield as part of the package otherwise it's a no go since they need pitching that will help next season. With Santana signed through next season with an option year at a very good price there is no way I give him up for anything less than one of those players plus an additional high ceiling piece that might be farther down in the minors. Even if this is a buyers market since Santana isn't a rental piece that shouldn't effect what we get for him because the Twins can hold onto him and trade him in the offseason.
  11. Based on his numbers it looks like he's had three straight year of success. Consistently has a WHIP of 1.00 or below and striking out more than a batter per inning. And the fact he's already at AA is exciting. I'd assume he'd start next season at AAA and then could move up from there, so he should be able to help the Twins next season. Does anyone know if he has to be on the 40 man?
  12. I'm really surprised Polanco hasn't come down with some sort of an injury just so the Twins could sit him down for a week and then send him to minors for a few games to try and get some confidence back.
  13. On that note. Do you know why the MLB doesn't allow teams to trade their picks?
  14. Hopefully the player they're referring to is a relief pitcher and not Stewart or Thorpe.
  15. Congrats! On a side note I'm still completely confused on why Granite is batting anywhere near the top of the order... In no way shape or form should he be batting above 9th.
