  1. Soler has nearly 3x the walk rate of Rosario. And then it depends on how much you buy into defensive metrics. The Royals seem to be a bit old school when it comes that, but my impression of them may be wrong.
  2. I obviously haven't figured out how to embed tweets yet. So if anyone cares to school me, that'd be cool.
  3. Isn't the opportunity to non-tender Santiago the reason we traded away Alex Meyer? Why in the world would any team pay Santiago $8+ mil to a pitcher with a career 4.78 xFIP and hasn't even had a sub 5.00 xFIP since 2014? I doubt he'd get that on the open market. Personally, I think non-tendering him is a no-brainer. The only defensible reason I could see for keeping him around would be if they plan on trading Ervin this offseason and want some extra depth. Even then I'd probably still be against it.
  4. This is the catcher I was hoping they'd target. A bit of an over pay, I thought he'd sign for 3 yrs in the $20-24 mil range. That likely has to do with the Ramos injury making Castro the top catcher in the market. But big picture this not something that is going to hamstring this team. Catcher defense is such a huge low-hanging fruit for this team to improve. Yeah, Castro might be a downgrade offensively over what Suzuki gave us last year, but he's still an average offensive catcher and by sitting him against tough lefties we can minimize his weaknesses. But it's likely a 30+ run swing in run prevention- going from one of the worst framers in the game to one of the best. Not mentioning that Suzuki was a liability in controlling the running game and in my opinion one of the worst game callers out there.
  5. I think Gibson will be the biggest winner here. If I'm not mistaken he typical leads or is among the leaders in most strikes called balls for the last couple of years.
  6. It was the right move. I think releasing him now was a classy move by the FO. It gives Plouffe more time to search for a good deal as a free agent and opens up an extra space for an additional minor leaguer.
  7. What happened to that college catcher that was supposed to have all that hype?
  8. LOLOLOL. As the British say, "That's mental." This team is on pace to go 58-104. Last place. By definition we are the farthest away from competing.
  9. I always think of this when someone makes this reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7LH__BPqSY OR: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmJKY59NX8o
  10. Square peg, round hole- Twins player development strategy. More evidence of the Twins trying to change the players into something they're not and taking away what makes them successful.
  11. I have done neither, but I'm assuming it's easier to hit in the minors, no? He has 372 PA between MLB and AAA. I think we should wait and see what a full, healthy year would bring with him. Just because signing him and not trading Plouffe were poor decisions I don't think we need to throw the baby out with the bathwater- Park still may end up being a good hitter.
  12. My understanding is that he hurt his wrist in Spring Training and that various wrist/hand injuries have been nagging him all year. Wrist/hand injuries can be extremely detrimental to a hitter, especially when it comes to bat speed.
  13. Baseball is tough. I'd like to see you go and try to hit 95 mph fastball.
  14. I hope we don't see the 2104 version of Hughes, but who knows, maybe he'll be the first cyborg to win the Cy Young.
  15. That's most sports towns- when things go bad fans demand blood. Even more so in places like Boston, New York, Philly. But Minnesota is pretty much ho-hum about everything when things go bad- which is probably part of why when many of us get out our pitch forks, some people's Minnesota sensibilities get offended.
  16. "These are not the posts you are looking for."
  17. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDAmPIq29ro Twins' front-office defenders.
  18. Get off my lawn you damn kids with your video baseball!
  19. Nice. I just hope they get the right person in place to lead the team. What are some people that we should consider for the job? I'd like to see someone from the Theo Epstein group or from the Pirates, Cardinals, Houston orgs.
  20. Well, I hope his recovery is short. I want to see what he can do when fully healthy.
  21. Depth has improved because we are drafting higher from all the losing.
