  1. Time value of money. A dollar today is always worth more than a dollar tomorrow.
  2. Yes, and they still aren't good. Which is why I'm still skeptical of him going forward.
  3. May is no longer a "legit starting candidate" at this point. He's a starting pitcher- elect. Just that the Twins are preventing him from being sworn in.
  4. Were you watching Buxton's first attempt at the majors? He was as overmatched Aaron Hicks his first go-around. To be perfectly honest, he needs more time in the high minors to learn some plate discipline and really should be in AAA the rest of the year.
  5. If our bullpen is bad (which it is) then why isn't May pitching more innings? 3-4 inning appearances means less for Bowyer, Duensing, and co.
  6. Gibson, May, and Berrios should be in the rotation next year. Full stop. This team needs its young core they've developed to be let off the leash finally so we can see what they can do. Trade Milone and dump Nolasco. That was easy, wasn't it? The Twins have painted themselves into a corner with 3 averag-ish major league starters (when healthy) getting paid free-agent rates, exactly the kind of thing I was worried about when they signed Santana. Not only is it expensive, but it makes the roster inflexible. May, Gibson, and Berrios can do what Hughes, Santana, and Nolasco have done, but for a fraction of the cost and should they falter- they have options. The free-agent signings can't be optioned. And we all know Terry Ryan and the Twins' M.O., they aren't going to do what I suggested above, but instead we'll be stuck with 3 declining average to mediocre vets on scholarship.
  7. Well now that TR has made his move, we can all get back to work.
  8. TR couldn't help himself around that shiny ERA and the 5 whole saves this year!
  9. If the Twins gave up anything of value for Jepsen I'm going to lose my ****.
  10. I would imagine that would be an offseason move. The AJ trade was an offseason move.
  11. I thought this said "Buxton to the Cardinals." It caused me to spit out a little bit of the soda I was drinking and do a double take.
  12. How many more years of team control does McGee have? I'd prefer him over Benoit (...Balls! Nailed it.) any day.
  13. Twins might need to through in Duensing to get it done.
  14. Ummmm... just say no. Why are we talking about trading for a 30+ year old player who has managed to play 140 games in a year once since 2009 and has missed significant playing time in 5 of his 8 full years as a regular. Furthermore he plays half his home games at Coors Field and is under a mega-huge contract for another 5 years. May I remind everyone how much Mauer's has hamstrung the team, soaking up over 25% for an aging, injury prone vet. And why are we talking about trading away one of the few, young, cheap and established pitchers in the rotation (Gibson) and the only pitcher left in the minors with a shot at giving us a number one- (Berrios). If we are going to mortgage the future- do it for Lucroy or an ace pitcher. Just say no to Tulo.
  15. Gibson is really turning into a great pitcher. Check out his monthly xFIP and strikeout rate splits. The Twins should just stop stealing bases. It's really hurting an offense that is OBP challenged.
  16. I'd bet against Arcia ever being a good major league hitter. His plate discipline is just too poor.
  17. How do we know he would have gotten hurt had he been the starting catcher? No way of knowing, but by being #1 on the depth chart, vs #2 he would have been in a different situation in ST and likely would never have got hit on the back of the head by Adam F@$&ing Jones.
  18. Or that a sound process begets quality results. Sound processes are something sorely lacking on this team the past few years.
  19. What the Orioles and Twins are doing to Gausman and May, respectively are fireable offenses if I was the owner of the team, IMO.
  20. Agreed. From the limited games I've seen him play (ST in '13 and '15 and the Royal's series) he takes professional ABs and has a solid understanding of the strikezone. That's why I'm bullish on his bat. He could turn into an absolute MONSTER at the plate in a year or two.
  21. I don't care about velocity so much as I do missing bats. And he can miss bats. 94 isn't enough to miss bats on it's own, so I figured he's got a good breaking ball.
  22. Counting stats. The only reason he does so well with RBI's and Runs, is because he plays on teams that score a ridiculous number of runs. Those stats mean nothing.
  23. I think based on Peterson's 2014 in FTM he should have started the year in AA, and very well could be moving up to AAA by now had he.
