He just inherited the company from good 'ol pops who made his fortune as a crony capitalist by buying distressed assets during the depression, rent seeking, and later acquiring other existing companies and getting sweet deals from politicians. He didn't create any value by producing or improving upon a good or service that consumers demanded.
