Obviously I'd prefer Lux, but DeL+Alverez+Stewart is a steal for Dozier.

If this is true, the Twins would be nuts to not accept a De Leon+ Alverez trade. I can't imagine them not pulling the trigger and haggling over 3rd and 4th pieces.

This is sorta where I am with this too. The Dozier rumors have gone ice cold today. I think the trade for Dozier is already on the Dodger's backburner. I think the Twins missed their window of opportunity here to maximize their return. The Dodgers have other options, the Twins really don't. The trade market for secondbasemen is pretty poor for the sellers- there aren't too many landing spots.

I don't envy you. I work on the other end at financial advisory firm that sells health insurance and medicare supplements in addition to regular financial planning. MNSure is an absolute clusterf***.

Tell them Plouffe is still available! I'm half joking, but Dozier+ signing Plouffe would replace Turner's production and would be cheaper. Plus the Dodgers would be Twins West.

That's probably a pretty fair deal. I know people were hating on him, but I'd do De Leon, Stewart, and Calhoun. Then if the Twins got creative, they could package E. Santana and Calhoun to the Mariners, O's, Pirates, or some other near contending team that's looking for a reliable #3 starter.

I think that's what they're thinking with the spin rate. It's better to be at the forefront of a trend for once, instead of trying to play catch-up with previous trends a la chasing pure velocity. Besides, adding pitchers with plus spin rates is probably a better way to achieve the goal of missing bats than pure velocity. If my degree in economics and years of working in the finance industry has taught me anything, it's that being a late adopter to a trend is always a losing proposition. In other words, teams are placing a premium on velocity- no good is going to come from playing catch up and having to pay a premium, why not look for other areas in which we can gain an advantage? Otherwise we're buying high and selling low. Buy low, sell high. Always. -

Haven't you heard, velocity is so passe? But seriously, one of the big takeaways from Pitch F/x is that "effective velocity", spin rate, and command matter much more than the reading on the radar gun. -
