  1. Just checking in. I think TR should offer Grossman a 5Y 30M extension.
  2. I agree, but my wife insists a couple can be two or three. Although if the Kody Brown legal action gets far enough, maybe a couple can be five.
  3. That's the one I remember hearing about when I was in college. Had a dorm neighbor from Crookston and another from EGF. Had to be one of them who told me.
  4. No headline writer could resist doing that.
  5. Not watching the game but saw the video of the Twins' second run. Mauer was out at second base. Did a little hip-hop on the pop-up slide and was off the base while the tag was applied. Ump called him safe. Blue Jays should have challenged. Did they?
  6. Dammit, Jim, I'm a doctor, not a very good actor!
  7. The more I think about this the more it bugs me. I didn't see the game; did Molitor take Rosario out of the game after this happened? This was not a stupid play. It was an easy steal for a team that needs a few sparks. As I said above, Molitor made a career out of taking advantage of every edge he could find. To say anything remotely critical about Rosario goes against how he played the game himself. I think Molitor owes Rosario and the team an apology.
  8. When I read the title of this thread I thought this was one of the sportsmanship-related unwritten rules, like don't do a dramatic bat flip, so I was confused at first. Yes, there is a time-honored guideline never to make the third out at third base. In fact, Bill James takes it one step further and says never to make ANY out at third base, and I think that's very valid. But on this play there was no out made. What I'm confused about is why Molitor would be bothered by it. It seems to me that this was exactly the type of play he would have made as a player.
  9. I haven't read the whole thread yet, but I essentially agree with Seth. The purpose of this season should now be to optimize the development of each prospect. Do what is best for each individual. Some are best off in AA or below, some in AAA and some in the majors. Have them play the position that is projected for them in the future. (Put Sano at 3B, for example.) The W-L record of the teams in the organization is of little to no importance, other than making the minor league playoffs provides more games for the players to get in their work.
  10. I used to keep book when I went to a game on my own back in my single days during the late '80s. I never did it for the purpose of compiling stats or anything; it was more just an OCD thing to do and it really kept my focus on the game. My routine was to purchase an orphan single ticket from a scalp---um, independent broker---and find a vacant seat near the field by the second inning or so. After that a visit from a beer vendor and a hot dog vendor and I was set.
  11. Two hard-hit balls in a row in a 1-run game, one more hard-hit ball and the score is tied. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
  12. Pitch to contact is good, as long as the contact referred to is ball contacting glove.
  13. LIsten, guys, I've got a fever. And the only prescription is more Kubel!
  14. That bunt would have been a good play only if it worked.
  15. Daughter: Is Suzuki fast enough to try to bunt for a hit? Me: Obviously not.
  16. If it was newly-baked in a restaurant I could handle the burn. Leftover reheated, not so much.
  17. Twins players to Dean: Shake it off, rook, and don't worry. We got your back.
  18. Who posted this? Obvious jinx. Sheesh!
  19. Gotta get through the bottom of this inning in case it starts raining.
  20. Twins players to Berrios: Shake it off, rook, and don't worry. We got your back.
  21. Dick Bremer: That was about five-hundred-seven-twenty pounds
