  1. 4-0 in the first inning. Sounds vaguely familiar...
  2. That's what happens when the pitcher becomes a statue.
  3. Gotta get these two ducks in.
  4. Correction: Sale vs rest of baseball: 2.73 ERA. Even more inexplicable.
  5. BTW, Texas finishes with 14 of remaining 20 at home.
  6. OK boys, 13 of your remaining 20 games are at home. Let's see what you got.
  7. Chris Sale vs Twins in 2015: 7.36 ERA. Chris Sale vs everyone else in 2015: 3.03 ERA. Some things in baseball have no explanation.
  8. Let me add that I'm totally fine with both the Yankees and the Blue Jays losing when they are not playing each other. Or maybe when they are playing Texas or the Angels.
  9. No list would be complete without Mel Hall of the Yankees.
  10. I bet the Sox would take Nolasco for him.
  11. You can't explain puns to kleptomaniacs because they take everything literally.
  12. Just out of curiosity what's the approximate Blue Jays fans to Twins fans ratio in southern Manitoba?
  13. That's true now. However, if I'm a Rangers fan I'm more concerned with the team(s) behind than those ahead because the team(s) behind are the ones that would threaten the wild card berth.
  14. 1) HOF but probably not first ballot. 2) I'm surprised it took as long as it did for the rest of the league to quit throwing him high fastballs. He's gotta adjust somehow. 3) The Twins will score a lot of runs during the next few years as their many young players learn and improve. 4) Yogi's most famous quote. 5) Santana has more potential as a shortstop than does Escobar. Escobar has more potential as a utility player than does Santana. If they both can play their best we have an excellent shortstop in Santana and an excellent utility player in Escobar. But that's a big and important if.
  15. The point is well taken, but I challenge the use of the word "huge". In fact, this year the #1 seed may be a disadvantage. Look at what happens based on current standings and assuming the #1 WC team defeats the #2 WC team. The #1 AL seed would play the Yankees in the ALDS and the #2 seed would play the Astros. The #1 NL seed would play the Pirates and the #2 seed would play the Mets. In both leagues the #1 WC team has a better record than the #3 division seed. I further challenge the use of the word "depleted". The only known depletion would be the starting pitcher used in the WC postseason game, with any bullpen depletion depending on how that game happens to unfold. And if the AL WC race goes down to the wire it could very easily be that the team's #1 starter may not start the WC game.
  16. I agree more with amjgt than I do with Brock. The best scenario for the Twins is for other teams vying for wild card berths to lose. It may be unlikely that the Yankees will fall out of wild card position but at this point it's in the best interest of the Twins for the Blue Jays to beat the Yankees when they play each other. As for the Royals vs Twins series at the end of the regular season, I think the Royals will be giving their regular position players adequate rest, setting up their rotation and making sure their key bullpen pitchers get only enough work to stay sharp. I don't think the #1 seed will be enough of a priority for them to play to win at all costs.
  17. Sno cone on that catch, Torii.
  18. Well that's baseball. **** happens. Offense needs to get to work.
  19. I tried, but there's only so much I could do.
  20. This is all Terry Ryan's fault. Our rotation should be Greinke, Arrieta, Kershaw, Sale and Keuchel.
  21. That bunt WOULD have rolled foul.
  22. I know I've posted this before but I can't help it. I read a review of this movie in the newspaper back when it came out. The review started with this sentence: "Now I know how movie reviewers in the '30's felt when they had to review a Three Stooges movie."
  23. After my years living in Duluth you learn that it's always colder near the lake.
  24. I don't think I'd wear anything that color. Or anything with the Sox logo.
  25. Sorry to talk about the game, but I wasn't paying attention. Why did the Sox take Garcia out?
