  1. I know it's not ideal, but his situation isn't all that different than Miguel Sano's was.
  2. I'm glad this happened now instead of after he got smashed 4-5 times. Go sign Clevinger and be done with it.
  3. He left out Lopez's shoulder tightness and Correa's foot amputation.
  4. Supposedly the hang-up with Taylor was that he was insisting on a 2-year deal. Which seems bold considering it's February 26th.
  5. In MN/SD/ND you can, you just have to sign for Fubo/DirecTV Stream if you want to stream them. The Iowa blackout thing is $%%^ up but it's been that way for decades.
  6. They will have even less TV $$ last year. Joe Pohlad is going around crying poor and saying they admire the Rays. So a payroll of about $90 million next year shouldn't shock anyone.
  7. Fubo and DirecTV Stream
  8. TV rights have nothing to do with the stadium. You can have the opinion that the $.03 on $20 tax is not worth having a major league baseball team. But you can't pretend there is a magical world where the Twins would still exist in the Metrodome in 2024 or would have paid 100% of the cost of a new stadium.
  9. You could be right on the broadcast signal, but I think they're more available out-state on cable systems than you think, given they pay big $$ to carry the state tournmanets etc. I know for sure they're on DirecTV everywhere in the MSP market and I imagine Hubbard makes KSTP/KSTC a package deal with most operators.
  10. We don't need to base our feelings on the Royals payroll. But the Twins payroll last season was $159 million. Even factoring in that they may have lost ~$10 million and might lose another $15 million in TV $$, they still should be at least in the $135 million range. They are currently ~$120. If they spend another $15 million to upgrade the starting rotation and bring back Taylor, I'm OK with it. If they stand pat at $120 million while the divisions is there for the taking, yes they should be embarrassed.
  11. You can't tell me that KSTP/KSTC at a minimum wouldn't jump at the chance to televise Sunday Twins games. The Twins used to get very good ratings when they did so before 2011. And I don't see why doing a one year deal would have been a holdup, so it wouldn't impact anything for 2025. Sure Diamond/Bally's wouldn't like it and they'd have cut the fee by that # of games, and you wouldn't make all of it up from the OTA partner, But getting at least some of your games in front of the portion of the fan base that's been cut off has long-term advantages well worth losing a small $$ in the short-term.
  12. At an absolute minimum, the Twins should have used this as an opportunity to put Sunday games back on local over the air TV. It's not like Bally's would have walked away if the package was 130 games instead of 155.
  13. I'm not sure how well MLB is at sniffing it out, but I imagine it's possible to use a VPN to get around the MLB TV blackout.
  14. Supposedly they spun it back off into its own company but when you log in you still end up in some AT&T billing hell, so don't even know. I was looking forward to calling them to tell them to go jump in the lake, but I guess they get a 6 month reprieve. 😡
  15. It means you must subscribe to a TV/streaming carrier that carries BSN. DirecTV, DirecTV Stream, Fubo or one of the local cable companies that do. It's not as dire as some make it seem, but it does suck.
  16. Most likely Iowa fans remain in the 6 team black-out twilight zone. I know courts being involved makes it harder but I can't believe MLB isn't putting a greater emphasis on fixing it.
  17. What makes no sense is why they won't just allow Bally's to stream it on their app for $20/month like the Wolves and Wild. Sure the app sucks and crashes half the time, but it's better than not allowing anything. The argument last year was, "the agreement was signed in 2011 and didn't foresee this and they're going bankrupt and might not pay us, so it makes no sense to renegotiate anything new with them." This is an entirely new contract. To just leave the blackout in place and make yourself unavailable to half your fan base is insane.
  18. It sure seems like they should have just streamed the games with MLB and then gone to Fox9/KSTP etc. and put about half the games on over the air. But I suppose Bally's can offer more $$ even bankrupt than they would make that way.
  19. I'm not sure it's that so much as who wants to invest in the infrastructure for a one year deal? That's why the court cases and Amazon swooping in at the last minute makes it hard. Chances are this will all end with Amazon negotiating a package with 10-15 clubs all at once as a package deal, not teams negotiating a bunch of one-offs with random streaming services.
  20. I assume they will be on, though I'm not sure when DirecTV's current agreement with BSN ends.
  21. They're not though. There is no contract, so nothing is in place. Bally's may WANT them to remain but the Twins are under no obligation to agree.
  22. It doesn't say that, but I tend to agree. There's no reason the blackout has to continue. It was an issue before because Bally had exclusive rights within Twins territory from the deal signed 10 years ago. But that deal is dead. There's no obligation for blackouts to continue.
  23. I'd much rather have Clevinger than DeSclafini for sure. Does he have options? If not and you can't flip him, it's always an option just to eat the $$ and be done if he doesn't have a good Spring.
  24. Another reason I don't love this is the DH spot isn't really filled. So sure Julien can play 2B, but who's the DH then? Larnach? At least now go out and sign someone like Carlos Santana for 1B/DH.
  25. I know the tool is imperfect, but in what world does a 33 year old reliever with one good ML season have a value of 7? Come on.
