  1. Wow- came back just in time to see the leadoff 7th inning walk.... Sorry. I shoulda stayed away.
  2. Touchdown, Buckeyes- It does look like some guys are volunteering to sit down when Santana comes back. Oh, well, off to do a workout for a while.
  3. That was the prototypical "nice piece of hitting" by Barnhart
  4. OK, let's see... We had 1st and 3rd, nobody out and scored 1. Wonder what happens here for the Reds?
  5. Oh, jeepers, it's starting to feel like Gophers vs. Ohio State out there. If they start actually hitting the ball hard, watch out...
  6. Wow- how about that prescient #4 in the game thread? Was that a classic Vince Coleman/Billy Hamilton trip around the bases or what? Way to give that run back, Pelf...
  7. Well, we got one. Just goes to show, tho, unless we're playing the White Sox, who start throwing the ball all over the yard, we can't score a lotta runs these daze...
  8. I'm wondering why it feels with the opposing team having bases loaded-nobody out, the over/under feels like about 5 runs. While with our offense, it feels like 1. Maybe I'm just a pessimist pretty much all the time.
  9. Mats Zuccarello. He plays with a ton of heart and despite his small size, ain't afraid to mix it up in the corners. Oh. He's a hockey player. Never mind, I guess.
  10. For the love of God, no K-people on this site, please! I've already got the K-blocker on my browser-- http://www.kardblock.com/
  11. Well, there goes my evil plan. Nunez, Zuke, and Vargas reach, Buxton GS. Hawk goes..... silent. Oh, well. It was a good evil plan.
  12. Heh... watched a WWII doc recently. Topic was bombing runs, and how the new-fangled bombsights were supposed to be able to drop one in a chimney. One old-timer was scoffing at the PR, and said, "yeah, they told us you could drop one in a chimney. Hell, we were lucky if we could hit France..." I'd say Mr Hunter's throw right there couldn't hit France...
  13. I still have some old stone tablets lying around with warning messages on them. We thought there'd be no more flint, hence no more fire. Fire good.
  14. Thompson- nice snag. But... OK, if you're a lights-out shut-down reliever, you can wear the ironic mullet. If you can't get guys out, and give up late-inning runs, you need to cut the "party in the back." Even if only to change the mojo...
  15. Makes me think Big Unit Jr may be due for a callup sometime soon...
  16. Hm. Somehow he calls Beckham Beckham. But everyone else is Geo, Avi, Adam, Jose... Does he have something against Beckham? Or against the name Gordon?
  17. Now here is the pitcher who should have come in in the seventh...
  18. Aw, shoot, and Hrbek got gunned down stealing second. Wait a minute, Buxton? How is he out by 10 feet? Did he take a break halfway down? Or just get the worst jump in the world?
  19. I seem to remember a lotta potatoes that looked like Nixon...
  20. Oh God, Thompson's warming up- and not in a Red Wings uniform.... Oh, the humanity!
  21. Heh-- he reminds me of old Jim Adelson. Growing up in ND, he was the guy who always got the play by play job in the state basketball and football playoffs. He was terrible homer, just like Hawk. He was from Fargo, knew all the Fargo kids, called em all by their first names, knew what their dads did, told their stories, etc, etc. Anybody other team he would barely make the effort to learn their names. "And a 30-foot jumper by #45 there..." As I recall, tho, at least he never gave the silent treatment. Everybody in the state who wasn't from Fargo just hated watching his broadcast of our little state's biggest sporting events of the year.
  22. Dang it, Pelf. Missed his spot. And just when Hawk was in epic whine mode. I thought he might go down to the dugout himself and throttle Ramirez...
  23. Hello Darkness, my old friend.....
  24. Hopefully, a glimpse of the future-- Shutdown starting pitching, yowza defense, Buxton racing, Vargas (and others soon to follow) mashing-- I wanna wreck the AL. Twinkies are long overdue. And we long-suffering fans are hungry for some Chicken Dinnah!
