  2. Wow, I've not seen much of Rogers, but what a bender he has. That's good stuff.
  3. Welp, is Molly gonna try to get 2 innings out of Gulfa tonight?
  4. Nah, he's one of those one-name folks, like Madonna, or Donovan, or a soccer player, like my all-time favorite, that Brazilian defender "Fred."
  5. "You watchin' the Twins? You watchin' the Twins? Cuz I don't see anybody else out here watchin' the Twins..."
  6. Just getting in to the game here. I was even typing out my congratulations (and astonishment) about getting a lead, then a zero, last inning. Ah, well...
  7. Heh-- I like that ad: "BD wants to give you the shirt off his back!" ---you mean, while it still says "Twins" on the front?
  8. Hmmmmm. Guy was recently in Florida. Knows a lot of Florida trivia...... Serge? That you?
  9. True, but just like Jepsen's performance last year, why not ride that mirage as far as it goes? There is no excuse for Molly throwing him out there to fail again and again- and costing the team wins in the process. This game just followed the same damn script as the rest of this lost season. I'm glad Bux is performing right now, and making me eat my words about keeping him in Roch for a while. I'm also glad Kep is out there regularly, although I still think he's a little undercooked. But by gum, leave the rest of 'em down there til the AS break, and after that, I don't want to see the likes of Jeps, Hughes, the Dozey/Plouffe 3/4 split, Zuke being the regular catcher, etc- ever again. Get those kids up here by late July, and let 'em take their lumps the rest of the year, and get ready for 2017 and beyond. And maybe, just maybe, a new face in the dugout, please.
  10. Heh.... been a long time since I read that one-- But that rain was so heavy this morning that I have seen the mermaids swimming, cheek to cheek (Sadly), I do not think they swim to me.
  11. Yes, Sano needs to get out of the OF. He needs to not have been there in the first place, but that's water over the dam. And good observation on the hammy issue- it's entirely possible it was set up by that play in right. I was surprised he didn't come up lame on that play. A month ago, (against all sound reasoning for the over-50 set), I was out on the rugby pitch, against a touring side from the UK. Since it's off-season for us, we didn't have a very full complement of players, and many of us went the full 80 minutes. 5 minutes left in the match, same thing- I had to change direction quickly, and even after warming up and playing nearly 75 min of crashing and bashing, a short, simple lateral move like the one Sano made, and suddenly *pop*, and the hammy was done. So it's conceivable that little move in RF may have contributed. A guy that big, having to do all that extra sprinting from a standing start in the OF is not a recipe for delicious brownies. Disaster brownies, more like. I respect Trevor Plouffe- he didn't succeed in his original position, got moved around a lot, and worked hard to make himself a competent 3B. But the situation with the club dictates this move, and it should have been made long ago.
  12. I concur. But shouldn't that point be some time around the Ides of March?
  13. So, he "bunted on his own," did he? Gee, good idea, Molly- hang your one and only guy who's been hitting this year out to dry. I am in complete agreement with many of the comments like this one. You're the manager. You've got to control those situations. You've got to communicate to that player, (again, your ONLY guy who's hit the whole year), what you want done or NOT DONE. I was not on the Molly bandwagon when he got hired, but more than willing to give him all support once it happened. Since last year, though, it's been at least one mind-numbing decision each and every game, (often way more than just one), and a constant string of lineups that look like they've been pulled out of a hat that says "10/6" on the side of it. Add to that the ridiculous way he's handled nearly every prospect that's been called up, and It seems readily evident he's not the guy to hone this club for the future, nor give the team a chance to compete in the present. Not only do we have a whole dugout full of guys who are not meeting their own or the team's expectations, we keep on shooting ourselves in the foot with these stupid decisions every damn day. Now, I ask you, who's responsible for that? And who's responsible if, like Nunez "bunting on his own," you've got 25 guys in that rowboat all pulling in their own individual directions? Molly needs to go. Now.
  14. Man, I'm a team-first guy, and it would truly suck to lose Mr. Meyer, but I would not blame him in the least if Boras gets him moved to another team. The way the Twins have jerked him around, and never given him a legit shot to prove himself- 2 sips of coffee, not even a whole cup- is ridiculous. We gave up a heck of a lot to get him over here, and it seems it's all been wasted. Granted, he did look out of his depth last year, but it was good to give him a look, albeit a short one. But he went down and did everything asked of him, (OK, you're a reliever now. Nope, you're a starter again...), and was finding success so far this year, until.... It's just a howling disgrace how Molly 'used' him in that recent callup. He's a starter, been throwing lights out, and then he gets dragged up here, only to sit way past his regular rotation turn. Then thrown into a useless situation, then finally given a start, only to be pulled waaaaaaaay too prematurely, and then gets bussed back out immedidately. Cripe, the 'vets' we've got have turned in far less competent performances, repeatedly, and been given enough rope to hang themselves along with the entire James-Younger Gang. But in an already lost season, Molly decided to run that particular game like the ALCS decider. He personally went out of his way to completely wreck whatever shred of confidence that kid had. I don't think this current issue is totally shoulder-related. Alex Meyer knows exactly what the Twins gave up to get him. He knows exactly what the expectations of the team and the fans have been since his arrival, and it's a lot to live up to. No doubt the pressure he feels going after it in the bigs is even more than the average rookie feels. I think the Twins manager really damaged his psyche with the horrible way he jerked the kid around up here. And the Kremlin-like way management 'handled' the surrounding situation didn't help dispel that perception one bit. I really do hope he gets back on track some time this season, and heck, once the manager has been changed by the AS Break, maybe he'll even get some time in the bigs again. Maybe he'll never pan out, in the long run. But he's a unique talent, and to give up on him without a legitimate shot, or callously wreck his confidence in the process is a disgrace.
  15. Haw haw haw-- I read that on the bus this morning, as I was rolling up my trouser bottoms to step out into the pissing Hong Kong rain. In my case, it's all true.

  18. Last night- which would have been about 7AM for y'all. With 150K or so other souls in Victoria Park, remembering Tiananmen Square. I'm glad to share baseball losses here, to help take the edge off losses in another sense.

  20. Man, our one All Star had a heck of a good AB there.
  21. Had he raised his head from his 2nd base pillow, he would have. I guess we could call it a 'wild pitch opportunity.'
  22. Well, a tiny silver lining in this gi-normous thunder cloud today. Nice to see Bux squaring that one up.
  23. Hi, y'all. Just tuned in, at the moment of the intentional walk wild pitch. Twins Way!! Yee haw! I hope you've all been having fun so far--
