    By gummmmmm..... There is NEVER a good time to walk a guy. But the unforgiveable walk is to the leadoff hitter in the 7th of a close game. Dang it- there are things you can't control- bloop hits, the sometimes somewhat subjective strike zone... but when you gack up the things you can control--- i.e., let's see... 7th inning leadoff walks with murdurer's row coming up, well, that's the sign of god-awfulness. (is that a word? It should be.)
