  1. I agree that the Twins should definitely have Santana higher on the depth chart than Nunez.
  2. Oliver Perez is also very good at neutralizing lefties.
  3. We should have signed David Price and used him as a LOOGY. On a more serious note, you could go big and trade for Chapman or Andrew Miller, or go for a more reasonable piece like Jose Alvarez of the Angels.
  4. Plouffe could be an all star, and by the way, 29 isn't old, plus the rebuild is supposed to be over.
  5. The age of the team doesn't matter right now.
  6. We have a food thread, and we had a book thread, so why not a birding thread? Just in case you don't know what birding (some fanatical birders like myself prefer "twitching") is, it is the hobby of watching and identifying different bird species, and many birders keep life lists, year lists, county, state, etc. My life list is at 218, and I added a Varied Thrush today! I like to keep track of my lists and up to date with what is going on at moumn.org, ebird.com, and aba.org. Do any of you bird? If so, do you keep a life list? Discuss. http://www.briansmallphoto.com/images/Varied-Thrush-03.jpg
  7. Here is Randy Rosario: And Francisco Liriano:
  8. I think that people put too much of an emphasis on right handed and left handed.
  9. Trump is a sick lunatic. I don't think that CNN treats any differently than any of the other candidates on the stage with him, so I don't see why he should get any favors.
  10. It was actually Rob Antony who did the negotiating.
  11. I would tender a contract to all but (possibly) Nunez. Some one like TJ Rivera (rule 5), Gregorio Petit, Ramiro Pena, Andy Parrino, Jeff Bianchi, Pete Kozma, or Joaquin Arias could fill his role for cheaper, and probably play pretty similar.
  12. I think I should just step in and take him since Zack Jones will probably be gone.
  13. Thompson makes sense, and I am excited to see Benson, but I am patting myself on the back over the Ceteno signing, because I named him in another thread as one of five catchers the Twins should pursue this offseason.
  14. A lot of interesting names: Roberta Pena, Jake Cave, Tyler Goeddel, Teoscar Hernandez, TJ Rivera (if you non-tender Nunez), Rafael De Paula, Jose Martinez, Alberto Tirado, Luis Perdomo, Matt Bowman, Chris Devenski, Luis Lugo, and Myles Jay are ones I could see fitting in with our club.
  15. Well, what I was trying to say is that well people may worry about being shot with their hands behind their back "just because they were black" and that the community does need to heal and bond together, we also have police officers who are unfairly being stereotyped also, and that they need to go through just as much healing, and that we should not be afraid to view them as another sports fan, because they have gone miles beyond what most people have done for the community. If you don't understand that it is you who is being dense.
  16. What, are you saying I am racist or something?
  17. One thing that I would like to point out is that we also have young black men who fear that they will be shot while they are at a gas station, and just because they wear a police uniform.
  18. With the news that Kenta Maeda has asked to be posted, and with Fangraphs speculating teams could spend anywhere between 65 million and 127 million I started thinking about former Twin Kris Johnson and his success pitching in Japan this year as Maeda's teammate. Maeda went 15-8 with a 2.09 ERA and 175 strikeouts in 206.1 innings pitched while Johnson went 14-7 with a 1.85 ERA and 150 strikeouts in 194.1 innings pitched. Does anyone think that selling Kris Johnson to the Carp was a bad idea? It seems that he had a very similar season to a pitcher worth somewhere around 90 million with a posting fee, and we could have had him for much less at $500,000.
  19. Wade showed impressive power also, which is good for a center fielder out of Maryland. Stashak doesn't have the stuff to head the top of a rotation, and probably not the middle either, and as a junior he had a season that you would expect of a prospect to fit into the back of a rotation. His secondary stuff is probably a 55 at the highest, so he has three average pitches to work with, and good durability. When he fills out think Adam Warren of the Yankees, without a change.
  20. I was probably most impressed by Clint Frazier this year.
  21. It is always great to be a Twins fan.
  22. Below I will give a brief summary of who I consider to be hidden gems with solid MLB careers in front of them: http://cdn.baseballamerica.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/LaMonte-Wade-2015-pg.gif (Photo by Paul Gierhart) LaMonte Wade - Wade had one of the best seasons for a non first round pick in his debut season, putting up good power numbers and a solid .302/.418/.486 line between Cedar Rapids and Elizabethton. Wade has above average speed and is a good defender from all the outfield spots, making me think that he has potential to be an everyday player, and at the very least a platoon/4th outfielder type. Cody Stashak - Stashak has potential to be a back of the rotation workhorse in the big leagues, putting up solid numbers in a hitter friendly Appalachian League, going 5-2 with 53 strikeouts in 44.2 innings, and a 1.12 WHIP. Stashak sits around 92 miles per hour to go with an average curveball and slider. Logan Lombano - Lombano has bat missing stuff with decent command and could fit into the back of a Major League bullpen in the next four years or so. Max Cordy - Cordy was the Twins last pick, with a high nineties fastball, but is very wild. Cordy put up good numbers in the Gulf Coast League, and if he can harness in his wildness he should be a JR Graham type. Daniel Kihle - Kihle is a toolsy 22 year old that should be able to become a solid fourth outfielder in the big leagues, or possibly even a starter if he can improve is strikeout rate. Andrew Vasquez - Vasquez had good numbers in his pro debut, and although he was pitching in the GCL at age 21, big lefties are a valuable asset in the big leagues. Brian Olson - Olson is my favorite for a big breakout next year, with solid defense behind the plate, a good hit tool, and power potential. Olson will likely be a backup catcher in the big leagues.
  23. I would hate Trump even more if he runs as an independent.
  24. Here is a list of MILB Free Agents worth looking at: Adrian Nieto Michael McKenry George Kottaras Tim Federowicz Juan Centeno McKenry or Federowicz would be the best, in my opinion.
  25. I think this is the third time in four years our AFL team has won.
