  1. For a buy low player I'd look at Givens from Baltimore. Good stuff but hasn't been able to harness it. I'd trade one of the many rule 5 eligible prospects for him.
  2. That also requires the bad teams somehow developing these very raw players. Javier would be horrendous as an MLB player next year. Horrendous.
  3. The Cinderella run to the final 4 playoffs may be over... But there's still a lot to play for. I'd love to see them play in the B1G championship game.
  4. Win win all around! Hard not to love this development.
  5. I posted in another thread I'm interested in Hamels if he's willing to do a Nelson Cruz like contract. 1 year + option year at a lower rate than the first year. At the very worst he could be cut if prospects show they're ready for prime time.
  6. Yep. We've seen so many lean years of Gopher football. This year has been a blast to watch. I was a little skeptical of PJ Fleck's schtick at the beginning, but he is the real deal.
  7. The Twins need to invest in a bullpen regardless. I was bothered before about Odorizzi's inability to pitch deep into ballgames... Then I realized the innings he does pitch are usually really good. He doesn't give up crooked numbers, and keeps the team in the game on most of his starts. There's a lot of value in a pitcher who can give you 5-6 good innings every 5 games.
  8. Yeah. I find it hard to believe some team is going to show urgency in getting Gibson signed, given his health situation. If he's healthy, I'm sure the Twins will be one of the first teams to know and they can go from there.
  9. Poor Max Kepler... He was discussed 3 years in a row to break out. Now that he played better he's a regression candidate
  10. Now I'm curious if Tracy Claeys would have done the same if his teams made it to 9-0...
  11. Hopefully top 10!
  12. I about had a heart attack... Row the boat!!!!!
  13. Penn State gets a gift TD. That was a clear delay of game.
  14. This is his statement game for sure. No doubt the best QB possibly in my lifetime for the Gophers. But that's not saying much. Abdul-Khaliq was the high mark before.
  15. Bateman 7 catches 203 yards through 3 quarters... I think he is the most talented player to wear maroon and gold since Laurence Maroney.
  16. Stop running and keep throwing the ball. Penn State has no answer for Johnson and Bateman.
  17. Row the boat!!!
  18. TCF Bank is sold out! Gonna be an electric atmosphere.
  19. You're one of Sid Hartman's close, personal friends?!! Also, Sid Hartman can still golf at 99 years old? In all seriousness, I am in agreement with you this offseason, which is a refreshing change! $140-150 is a good target to achieve for a payroll. It wouldn't bother me if they started the season below that threshold, and save $5-10 million for in-season acquisitions.
  20. KLaw chat yesterday: John: Do you think Odorizzi gets signed to a long term deal with the draft pick penalty or is he a player better off taking the QO? Keith Law: I would be concerned if he doesn’t get a long-term deal. That would feel suspicious to me.
  21. Concur with all you typed. I'm perfectly fine going year to year with all of these players. There are too many question marks that we don't know yet to assess their value.
  22. I remember when Yu Darvish was going to sign on the west coast because that had the most Japanese food options...
  23. We can go off recent history and have a pretty good idea that whoever offers the most money wins the bid. It was reported Manny Machado was offered 8/240 by the White Sox. They even hired his brother in law! Weirdly enough, he signed with the team that offered the most years and total money. Bryce Harper turned down multiple 8-9-10 year offers from the Nationals, Cubs, and White Sox. So weird that he would end up in Philly who offered the most total money. It's the off-season, so there's nothing wrong passing the time talking about where Gerrit Cole lives and goes to church. It's all a moot point if the Angels don't offer him the most money.
  24. Cole will sign the most lucrative contract offered to him. Period. That's what Boras clients do.
