DJ Baxendale most likely played his last game in the Twins org 7 year Minor Leaguer with a 2.9 AAA era even as he was switched back and forth from the bullpen and spot starts 2 time AA All-Star Tana should have seen what they had with a big league opportunity He’ll pitch in the big leagues with some one next year
You failed to mention that the winds were gusting 53 mph out at Frontier Field tu stsrt the game. Routine fly balls were blown all over the field and out of the park Not the best conditions to pitch in
So a guy with a current 5.52 era in AAA is better than our current AAA pitchers who all have era’s below 2 Sleegers, Curtis, Baxendale, Magill All these guys should be pissed
Why would we want a pitcher that a contending team didn’t want ???? We already proved we didn’t think he was good enough to help us by not protecting him. Why would we take him back now
Let’s try someone who has been successful in the highest level of the minor league who has not already failed in the Big Leagues Recycling guys like Duffey, Busenitz + Moya is not the answer
DJ Baxendale looked awful good against the Pittsburgh Pirates, making Josh Harrison and Gregory Polanco look silly Any chance of him making an impact sometime in 2018 Have you seen him throw this spring training
If you are going to talk about guys who should break camp but won’t add DJ Baxendale to that list. Bailed Berrios out on Sunday by making Josh Harrison + Gregory Polanco look foolish. The announcers were raving about his stuff. Expect him to make the jump sometime in 2018 At some point guys like Duffey, Hughes are going to have to earn their spot
Solid outing would have been more appropriate Even if you know nothing about baseball, the number of extra base hits allowed in AAA is alarming I'm a fan of Goncalves, just not going to overhype him
More hits than innings pitched in an outing is NEVER great or impressive You overhype the guy, he's a backend rotation guy at the most....not Sandy Koufax You guys make me sick giving him pitcher of the day every time he pitches; even when it's mediocre at best.
I guess the Twins FO keeps Heston around so his crappy era of 9.25 makes Goncalves era of 4.09 look good. Most guys have stupid good success at the AAA level and can't reproduce those results once they get called up....see Turley + Tonkin. Maybe Goncalves is trying for the opposite.....FYI....that never happens
Even more alarming.... Of the 23 hits he has allowed in 22 AAA innings pitched, 11 of them are for extra bases. So 48% of his hits allowed were for extra bases That is awful no matter how you look at it There are Red Wing pitchers with 40+ IP that have allowed less extra base hits and home runs
Your love affair for Goncalves is clouding your judgement.... You said he outing tonight was outstanding Look deeper into the actual numbers instead of your opinion 1.333 WHIP 7 hits in 6 innings BABIP .437 BA .304 Those numbers do not translate to success at the next level With that many base runners, his luck will soon run out....like in his last start His last start produced: 3.67 WHIP 8 hits in 3 innings BABIP .500 BA .470 Allowed more HR's (3) then strikeouts (1) A GAME SCORE of 1 In AAA he currently has a home run rate of 2.25/9
