  1. Here is what Dave Cameron said in his Fangraphs chat yesterday before the Tigers-Twins game even started. 10:44 a.m. CT. 'It’s the first Wednesday of the regular season, so let’s chat right up until the Tigers start pummeling the Twins.'
  2. 'The issue isn't the Twins being too slow to promote guys, but rather not having players good enough to bring up' So is this because of: poor drafting poor development poor evaluation of prospects when trading for them Some of the above None of the above
  3. Two hour rule for professors? I totally thought of something else when you said that :-)
  4. So, a normal Monday then? :-)
  5. The bolded comments in your post are the kind of comments that inspire the kind of cordial, respectful debates that you've stated you so much want on this site, like in your last post on the negativity thread, for instance. They bolded comments aren't preemptively insulting or antagonistic at all. They really show you are open to points of view other than the ones you have.
  6. Man, TWO WALKS!!! In only 2 innings? Still needs seasoning.
  7. As opposed to the faith that people have (or are supposed to have because TR picked him) in a man who has never managed anywhere at any level? :-)
  8. Early June? When at least two of those three still won't be up? :-)
  9. I want Escobar to do well today and shove our words down our throat :-)
  10. So, the Tigers are starting a righty, so the Twins are sitting the left hand hitting LF Arcia in favor of an IF who hits lefties well and righties poorly.
  11. Didn't take long to put an IF in the OF. And it wasn't the guy who played a bunch of OF last year.
  12. In Dave Cameron's chat yesterday he started it by saying: 'It’s the first Wednesday of the regular season, so let’s chat right up until the Tigers start pummeling the Twins.' He said that before the game even started.
  13. Yeah, again, for me I didn't have any issues with his comment. I was just pointing out how some people might not be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because of those kind of comments. I'm from LA, I spent my first 21 years in California. I can't see myself ever going back unless my kids want to go.
  14. At 25 years old I think both should be well seasoned already and If they aren't seasoned enough by now shame on the organization. At this point, the team is just wasting their bullets versus inferior talent as the team waits for some magical moment when it's the exact right time for these guys. They shouldn't be getting to the majors and experiencing their growing pains during their prime years which is what is going to happen. Additionally, maybe these guys aren't the talents they were hyped up to be since we've trade for them since they can't break into THIS rotation. Meyer hyped to be an Ace/#2, and at 25, still in the minors without even a cup of coffee in the bigs.
  15. It didn't bother me in the least, but it was more than once, wasn't it. Pretty sure. He basically repeated it this offseason, didn't he? In either event, my point was comments like that doesn't inspire giving a player a benefit of the doubt.
  16. He doesn't exactly inspire devotion with how openly he speaks of wishing he was back in LA and not in Minnesota.
  17. What's the address of Target Field? Why did they call it that?
  18. Remember who hand picked him to be his successor? :-)
  19. Nishioka was an inexpensive mistake in baseball terms though. His salary was a drop in the bucket. In FA terms, he was getting scrub pay. When it's all said and done, it could be Nolasco as the worst player and worst contract (to go along with him seemingly not wanting to be here) I think resigning Pelfrey after his first season with us could be the worst decision made in quite some time though.
  20. Well, Smith was responsible for Nisioka, so it's Nishioka. It was nice to see him forfeit his pay when he didn't have to :-)
  21. Which 'young kids' you talking about? The 25 year old Meyer, the 25 year old May or some other ones? :-) Ryan has spoken of Buxton coming up soon, but what else is he going to say? Maybe he will or won't, but I wouldn't expect any other kind of statement from Ryan. Got to sell hope. And, while there weren't many options for CF out there in FA market this offseason, there may have been options available in trade either this year or in FA or trade the previous two years.
  22. I'll be to-the-floor shocked if Buxton is up before September at the earliest.
  23. The article I read said that the Red Sox expect the FA prices in 2016 to be crazy (and that's not a bad guess) and since Porcello was going to be a FA after this season, they decided paying a bit more for less years (4 years) to a 26 year old was better than having to pay the same amount for more years (6 or more) to an older pitcher that will likely include go in to declining years.
  24. I''m hoping they replay this game tonight like they often do.
