  1. hahaha. That doesn't describe Jeter from everything I heard/read from/about him. Ortiz is, well, an egomaniac.
  2. they are rushing him. feel bad for the kid's development, glad the Sox are doing it.
  3. Especially for a guy who thinks the whole game is all about him and he should have special privilege.
  4. what? it's important to establish your fastball right away? that's new info from Bert :-)
  5. exactly. nothing in my posts even come close to suggesting I was criticizing the interviewer and everything to do with the responses given by the owner/leader of a MLB team.
  6. My issues have zero to do with the interviewer at all. My issue has to do with an owner who seems completely clueless.
  7. It's the second interview where he points out we only had one winning month. There are only 6 full months in the season. Not hard for an owner to notice how many winning months his team had, is it? But yes, it's clear May carried them, and that was clear before the offseason. An offseason where little was done. It was still clear before his last interview where he said it was logical to assume the team would be better this year because they won 83 games last year and he saw no flaw in that thinking. And you really wonder why one might single out Pohald's THEORY? Seriously? A theory that was blatantly obvious all along. He throws out this theory, as he calls it, after he said recently in another interview that he thought it was logical to believe that since we won 83 games last year that we'd be even better this year? That he found no flaw in that thinking? The fact that the team is looking into how they were so wrong on so many fronts is admirable (and kind of their job, no?) Nothing is being taken out of context.
  8. I've pretty much stopped drinking beer in favor of ciders.
  9. He'll be out of baseball by then. Very likely retired.
  10. 'When you look at it, they only had one winning month last year, May,' Be nice if the owner of the team knew we had more than one winning month last season. 'One theory: the team isn’t as good as we thought it was. Maybe we’re doing something wrong in developing players. Maybe last year was just a fluke. Maybe they appeared to play better than they really did.' A lot of people have said these things and said it a long time ago. I don't think any of that is theory. 'One problem with the Twins: people don’t seem to leave. There isn’t a lot of turnover' Well, um....
  11. Grossman has no business in CF. He's only tolerable in a corner spot, defensively. Perhaps you meant Kepler and Buxton are the only ones who can play CF?
  12. Well, I guess that depends on where you draw the line as one of the best. Certainly on the pitching side, that'd be true. And wouldn't that be a ringing endorsement of our draft picks of pitchers (or maybe our development of pitchers) :-)
  13. Might have been a GREAT pick and then the DEVELOPMENT of him has been bad.
  14. Just to clarify, are you saying Trout had an OPS of .672 in 1300 minor league PAs? Or are you talking about his 40 game intro to the majors before becoming ROY the following season and finishing 2nd for MVP?
  15. again, the problem could very well be how we develop pitchers, not the actual selection.
  16. http://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.cgi?id=stewar000koh Some might think that someone drafted as high as he was would be considered a much better prospect than many respected prospect publications feel he is now. Might cause disappointment. If others want to think he's doing just fine then that is awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing how he does in the majors, whenever that might happen One would hope that such a high draft pick ends up being a clear #1 or #2 type pitcher.
  17. and i didnt say he wasnt. Dont put words in my mouth. Im saying its understandable some are disappointed that our number 4 overall pick is disappointing so far and perhaps thats on develoment.
  18. And MLB, Baseball America and Baseball Prospectus didn't rank him in top 100;
  19. Scouting director Deron Johnson, 'He's adequet, er, he's good both first base and outfield.'
  20. I'm guessing we grab the HS OF from Pennsylvania. Alex Kiriiloff.
  21. Zack Collins off the board. Man, I hate the White Sox.
