  1. Yup. Look at the Golden State Warriors ... DEPTH = WINS.
  2. I will add that Wilson Ramos's WAR (whatever you think of it) with the Nationals averages 1.1 per year, which translates as a "Reserve," not a "Starter" and not an "All Star." So I think enough has been said about that trade being so terrible for the Twins.
  3. I believe that is a reasonable hope.
  4. Did you read the article? It states that that wasn't the issue. The issue was that Reusse "heard a Twins official say in an MLB Network interview that Sano was in Fort Myers, working every day on right field skills, while he was in the Dominican hanging with buddies." That might bug the organization a little. Maybe. I don't know. It's not LOL funny though.
  5. Please - no comparisons to Star Trib commenters and those at Twins Daily! Let it not be so.
  6. Two second half fadeouts is pretty telling though. Something to be leery of going down the stretch.
  7. I'm glad we cleared that up.
  8. A sub Revere arm? Is that possible? Evidence? I hadn't heard that.
  9. That would just confuse the hell out of the old timers looking at the box score in the newspapers.
  10. Solid trade, in that Murphy is a catching prospect, and we did not have anyone coming up.
  11. Statistical experts say that the University of Northern Iowa, when they led by 12 with 35 seconds left, had 99.9% chance of winning! So ... you ... never ... know. (Then again, you usually know.)
  12. I just saw that Paul Krebs (29 years old right now), out of UM Crookston, was drafted by KC, and he batted. 1.000 in his minor league career! With an 1.000 OBP! (2 At bats; a hit and a walk). The only player ever drafted from that school. Funny stuff.
  13. Yes, me too. Of course.
  14. I think you're kidding about the dog, right? Did his kitty kat die too? I mean come on, you're kidding, right?
  15. Very cool project! I hope you haven't forgotten about Mike Kingery.
  16. Yes, A list of "players that got away" from each MLB team would make for a fascinating article. I agree that Ortiz is just one of many, but he was ours, therefore it is kind of understandable that some still have a hard time letting it go. I'm long done with it.
  17. Here is an ESPN article suggesting just such a signing. http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/68880/if-adam-laroche-retires-white-sox-should-go-get-justin-morneau I'm a Morneau fan and even if he were to play for the dreaded White Sox - and do well - I would greatly enjoy it.
  18. In previous years it has seemed some people (more on the comment section over at the Twins official site) have complained about how injury-prone the Twins are, pointing a finger at our organization as the worst of all possible organizations, mindless that similar "fans" are complaining exactly the same about their own organizations. Regarding injuries, the Twins have had no significant injuries so far this year (as far as I know & knock on wood). How about that? Note: The Dodgers have six players most likely out for opening day, and The Angels, Cardinals, Mariners and Mets (to varying degrees) have four players likely out for opening day. Only the Twins, White Sox, and Yankees have no players out with injury at this time.
  19. Subbuterean could become a word to use on a regular basis. "The seafood at Seafood Foodie Heaven was subbuterean. "Yeah, I agree. it wasn't really a hit with me with me either."
  20. I'm hoping. Will be fun to watch his development.
  21. Excellent article, as always, Nick, but I think it's presumptuous at this point to anoint Buxton as "in another class entirely" than Hicks and Gomez. Time will tell. Many first overall picks have failed to make good in the past. If he's not significantly better at the plate through April he will need further seasoning in AAA. And then time will tell again.
  22. You didn't mention if the movie/experience was worth it.
  23. There's a lot to shake out: Will Buxton blossom? If so, when? Will Arcia make a comeback? But only that, he must improve. Will Santana flame out like he did last year? Or play like he did the year before? Will Sano work out in right? Will Rosario match last year (would be fine), or will be backslide or improve? Will Quentin come back and surprise us all? Or will be released soon? (Same with Sweeney.) None of these players are established. The new season shall be fun to watch from this perspective.
  24. I can almost hear certain rabid Yankees fans drooling over snapping up Sano one day.
