Afraid he's a no go. Heard he was hanging out in Tibet with Sidd Finch.

That 99 from CF should be interesting....

Would have preferred to see Baez or Story, but I've been a fan of Simmons since his Atlanta days.

Sad day. I had the pleasure of seeing Hank play in old Fulton County Stadium several times. Quite a team being assembled in heaven the last year. Hall of Famers - Tom Seaver Whitey Ford Bob Gibson Don Sutton Phil Niekro Joe Morgan Al Kaline Lou Brock Hammerin' Hank Tommy Lasorda Other memorable players from my earlier years we have lost in the last year : Ron Perranoski Jimmy Wynn Dick Allen Phil Linz Dennis Menke Lindy McDaniel Mike McCormick Bob Miller Claudell Washington Bob Watson Ed Napoleon Glenn Beckert Ed Farmer Eddie Kasko Don Pavletich Johnny Antonelli Bob Oliver Tony Fernandez Mike Ryan Horace Clarke Jay Johnstone Lou Johnson among many others...... Rest In Peace to all of my childhood (and later) heroes....

As long as you're not flying in on the Enola Gay you should be okay.

The original point was how many aces have the Twins signed/drafted/developed in their history. Both Johan and Camilo were aces in my opinion though Johan came from Houston. Both Pascual and Kaat were in the Senators organization when they moved to Minnesota but I would count them both as home grown. My error in not clarifying Pascual as an ace in my original post. Though I was a huge fan of Radke, I did not consider him an ace. Again, just my opinion. The premise is - if you wait to develop an ace, you may be in for a long wait.
  14. Rigby
As an ace, certainly. Home grown - probably not.

How many aces have the Twins home grown in 60 years of baseball? Kaat, Blyleven and Viola by my count. You could stretch it to include Santana (originally an Astro) and Pascual (pre arm trouble). Home grown aces occur infrequently, thus all acquisition avenues have to be examined. I too would not include Balazovic, Larnach, Kirilloff or Lewis in a deal for Snell. Possibly a package built around Duran or Garver. If the Twins' farm is as deep as believed there is significant value beyond the top four or five.

If you could only add Hank Izquierdo's two doubles together....

An optimist might say that's halfway to Brad Hand.

    Yes.

I had the opportunity to meet Stan on his way north from spring training in 1970. The Twins stopped in Charlotte to play their last spring game against the Mets coming off their Amazin' season. He gave my brother and myself a couple of baseballs (which I still have). Incredibly nice man.

One of the Twins best all-time relievers. Godspeed Ron.

Dust in the Wind? We're not in Kansas anymore....
  23. Rigby
Yeah. For those that buy into Baseball Trade Values (personally I believe they are quite flawed), an equally valued package from the Twins would have been Duran, Wade and Gordon. Additions of Thorpe, Smeltzer, Cave etc. would have created a surplus from Twins....

My thoughts exactly when I first read the MLBTR article. They apparently missed the eligible MILB players.
