  1. The more I read it the more Jay and Cody sound like a Disney Chanel/ Nickelodeon TV show about two best friends who always seem to find themselves in odd yet humorous situations... and you know it was always Cody's fault!
  2. I did enjoy the Twins second day draft and a lot of their 3rd day sections seem interesting too! I had no strong preference on who should go 1st this year so I'll take the wait and see and cheer approach on Jay and Cody.
  3. I guess my point is Barrie and Verkerk are raw and haven't done much I'd expend them to still develop GCL. Diaz and Tapia haven't played in GCL yet and then they draft high school guys Blankenhorn, Cabbage, and Kendrick. Alexander Wiel seems like the only one ready for Elizabethan.
  4. Okay, first of all the Twins Daily Organization Chart needs to be updated. Wasn't before or after spring training. I understand organizational depth... but do the Twins need that many corners for the lower minors? Jack Barrie, Ruar Verkerk, Lewin Diaz, Roni Tapia off the top of my head... Now Travis Blankenhorn, Trey Cabbage, Kolton Kendrick, Alexander Wiel.... Even if Amaurys Minier spend all year in the outfield that's a lot already for two teams.
  5. ...and a couple of MPH on his fastball. Which on a 6 plus lefty could be huge.
  6. Good for Jorge Parra! Hope he finally makes it to the states next year.
  7. I've been reading a lot about Clark today for some reason. His grips come up a lot, It looks just like a "bunt" grip, though I can see him having a lot of control hitting that way (and thus higher Avg), how does he generate power using just his fingers?
  8. 3 Scoreless inning for Huascar Ynoa today. A hitless game for Zaino and Jean Carlos. Though I have to say if were going by name and age as guys were keeping a eye on... Darling Cuesto should be on the top of all our lists! The catcher had two hits today.
  9. Your probably right, but Terry Ryan was just quoted by Mike Berardino saying Kepler's natural position is CF, but they got someone else playing that position on the team. I only mention it because if Kepler were to keep hitting there isn't much room in AAA for a 1st basemen/DH this year in Rochester, but if neither Hick or Rosario are going back down, he could get promoted up there before some of the other top prospects.
  10. Here is a tweet from Doggie Wolfson today: "#MNTwins VP Mike Radcliff on the 2015 int'l FA class: "One of the best we've ever seen." Value that they'll spend $4M on one player alone."
  11. I say...3. 2 get in right away, a 3rd after some other prospect gets hurt or promoted. World Team is always lacking in 1st baseman so I think Kepler makes it there. Buxton because people will want the top prospects take part. Leaving Sano or Berrios for the last spot. I'm leaning toward Berrios.
  12. Prep Catchers are interesting. The results are not many come out as successful, everyday MLB catchers... but some switch positions and are successful that way (like Justin Morneau). Maybe drafting with the plan to switch them over might be a good strategy to maximize their worth.
  13. Some one should talk to Nick Gordon's dad and find out how that went down. After it was reported that odds were he was going to the Twins and for around slot, did other teams call up saying what will he sign fir if WE draft him?
  14. No the problem is the Twins WILL ask Rodgers agent what it would take to sign him and if his agent gives a number way over slot and say if your not willing please don't draft him.... and they draft him and arn't willing to pay him around what they were asking that could damage relationships by playing hardball. Now like you said, it hasn't stop the Blue Jays from signing players, so it is a valid point, and teams can do that, but will the Twins?
  15. Nothing. A minimal offer has to be made, so you can't pick just anyone without risking them signing for it or losing the pick. There is also damage of alienating the agent and/or playing by playing hard ball with some one who might end up in your system for the next 10 years or with someone who represents free agents you want to sign.
  16. Baseball America reports Twins signed OF/SS Aaron Whitefield out of Queensland Australia. Old teammate of Jack Barrie on the Bandits, Whitefield has a good glove. What stats are out there don't show much power, the videos of BP don't show a lot of bat speed, but I'm guessing he's a decent hitter for average.
  17. This was posted before in another thread http://blogs.twincities.com/twins/2015/02/27/twinsights-twins-nearly-4-million-international-bonus-pool/ Last February , before the Wander Javier 4 million dollar story broke, Mike Berandino had 3 names the Twins were interested in: Javier, OF Juan Soto, and 3B Christopher Martinez. I've been keeping my eyes open for those other names neither have been mentioned by Ben Badler or Kiley McDaniel. Though I miss things because I don't have a BA subscription. On the MLB Pipeline list, Soto is listed as #19 and connected to the Nationals. Martinez is listed at 26th and connected to the Cubs. Mixed feelings. On one hand the Twins are interested in more than one guy on the top 30, on the other they may have already been out bid. I'll be looking out to see if Badler or McDaniel confirm those connected teams.
  18. Good list. This is interesting... outfielder Simon Muzziotti who is Ranked 24, has interest from several teams including the Twins, the Red Sox are favored to sign him, BUT the Red Sox have interest in signing another top 30 player and are on spending limits after going over their slot, so they still might be out bid.
  19. Oh, and AJ PUK is at #14, Iowa boy.
  20. Both Shore and Boldt in the top 10. There 's going to be a lot of "why didn't the Twins sign local talent questions" If they stay there.
  21. I think I dislike the 1st round talent in this draft more than any in the last 7 years. That could change though.
  22. Part Two from Fangraphs: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-international-signing-market-part-2/ Bottom line from Kiley McDaniel: He doesn't know of any other July 2nd prospects connected to Twins besides Wander Javier so far. Cubs are going way over their cap again.Dodgers are wild cards who also could blow by the cap on young Cubans and high priced players.
  23. Odd thing happened during the Red Wings game, the whole ump crew lost track of how many strike their were, what should have been a strike 3 for the batter was called strike 2 and the other team was... upset. By the time the official scorer could give the the right call the Wilkes-Barre pitchers arm got cold and boom! The Wings started hitting off him.
  24. Okay, How much does he feel age is a factor for observing and interpreting Midwest League results. Does he see younger players doing well as a predictor of future success or as a way to temper expectations if a older player for the league is having a good year? Or is it not a factor at all.
