  1. Besides Hernandez the only one of those guys I've heard of is Shortstop Edwin Diaz... which isn't a surprise this low in the draft. To bad about no high bonus signings in the 11th. I would of love to see them take A.J. Puk.
  2. No one wants to spend the money or waste the pick on someone who's asking for 1st round cash without playing at all this season. Someone will pick him late, they'll watch him play summer ball, and see if they can find cash if his play is off the charts. But at this point there's a 98% chance he's Nebraska bound.
  3. Kohl just got interview on MLB. Seems like a smart kid. Can't wait to see him pitch.
  4. Good pick. Lets see what he signs for.
  5. Oh wait... How long do I have to listen to Harold Reynolds? Uh... Let me know who the first three picks are....
  6. The Kernals website has probable pitchers. At the top, just click the arrow to the right it will sometime go 3-4 pitchers out. If its a bunch of 'TBA' count out like ascheib50 said. Berrios is going Tomorrow ' Thursday June 6th' if that helps.
  7. Okay... Let's play... Pick 4 will be Kohl Stewart who will sign for somewhere between 200 K Below slot to 50K Over slot. The drama around Twins Daily will be that one of the top 3 (Appel, Byrant, Gray) falls to the Twins after the Astros or Rockies pick Moran. Over the next few years Stewart will be unfair compared to the player the Twins passed on, because he's 3 years behind the others in development time. Pick 43 Will be Tom Windle. Windle will be an easy sign and a low floor pick. A safe pick to go with the "riskier" Stewart, but a pick they can save a little cash with for signings later on. Hunter Green and most the top end catchers will be off the board but the Twins pass on Ryan Boldt... much to fans dismay. Pick 78 will be shortstop Jan Hernandez from Puerto Rico. After passing on "Better" talent with the first two picks., Fans will be happy they took the best player on the board... though the "when does he move off short" comments start the day he signs..... or sooner . After that a lot of pitching (Maybe Jason Hoppe on Day 3) and a catcher in the first 8 rounds. Followed by an agressive spending spree on the International market in July on postion players. Lets see how close I get....
  8. I follow you. I haven't heard of any of the top 3 teams connected to Stewart, so I have to think he,s ceiling is still 4. The Twins are big on character though, so I agree with you it is a possiblity the Twins pass on Gray at 4.
  9. With Benson now gone, this is a good possibility. On the other hand, Twins have a lot of prospects who will need to be added to the 40 Man this offseason. Somebody is getting exposed.
  10. The're can also be runs on catchers, where guys get drafted early too.
  11. Harold Reynolds and Mayo both high on Reese McGuire and Kohl Stewart.
  12. Thanks for the link!
  13. I have a feeling the Twins board looks slightly different then the consensus. It's sounds like they like Reese McGuire 4-5 spots higher on the Twins rankings then most other public rankings. Moran has never been connected to the Twins, even though he's getting looked at by the Astros and the Cubs. I think there's a chance Stewart might be as high as #2 on their board. So the Gray vs Stewart choice might not be a slam dunk decision for the Twins as it would be for most of us.
  14. According to Radcliff, The Twins currently have 4 guys they like for the top pick. We know Stewart is one and McGuire is another. But there are 3 guys consider the top of the class in Gray, Appel, and Byrant. So who out of these three do you think the Twins don't like at 4 and why? 15. That's not completely true. The Twins scouts did identified Kepler and Polanco and payed then highly. Bill Smith might be a more "in the room guy" for them. Sano on the other hand, was outside the Twins usually International budget by the point he was ready to sign. The story goes, Sano's agent called The Twins directly and told him his price, Smith said okay it but only if Sano's agent didn't use their bid to try to parlay it into a bigger bid from another team. Sano's agent honored their agreement (even though he got A LOT of flack from the Pirates for not giving them a chance to get in a final bid). So I give Bill Smith at least some credit on getting Sano. Part of Bill Smith current job with the Twins is improving relations with Latin America. So the Twins must think that was a positive part of his regime too.
  16. Oscar Taveras. His write up is not behind the pay wall.
  17. I went to the same game and that was a very good recap of the players. It was a fun Star Wars night. The one thing I don't agree with grover is though Polanco bat looks advanced, his arm looked a little weak for SS. I think he'd be a very good defensive 2B, but the plays happen faster at the MLB level and I'm worried teams are going to hit a few too many infield hits against him.
  18. He looked good tonight. Glad to hear he's getting a shot in High A.
  19. I like how Stewart is one of the best athletes and has one of the best fastballs.
  20. I'm starting to hate looking at the AAA line up. Just a a whole lot of nothing.
  21. What is it, 45 is average? A pitcher with 2 pitches is more of a reliever, A guy with just a bunch of 50's is a... Hendricks. So 3 pitches at 60 or higher would be #2 stuff?
  22. Manaea was always a catch 22. If he dominated he wouldn't be around for the Twins at 4. If he struggled at all he became a risk for the Twins at 4. I'm hoping he really shows increase velo in his last couple starts before the draft.
  23. Picking Thurman while boldt is still on the board at 43 is interesting. He must be thinking the Twins wouldn't take two high school outfielders with their 1st two picks.
  24. This assumes Bryant isn't a Boras client...
  25. Kamara was signed with last years international pool. The Twins already spent most, if not all of their budget from last year. In early July they'll be able to spend on international guys again.
